    Olá Maria: Soon, I think, once I have sufficient grammar then may I start writing in portuguese. For now, let me briefly describe how I apply myself to language study.
    Your videos, (say, this one, in fact and, although not 5 minutes long, yet to it, 3 hours will I devote; and with particular attention to pronunciation and nuances, sentence structure and definitions. For, oftentimes not merely the literal translation will I make, but critically and so to discover the mind and perspective of the native speaker also the cultural meaning of a specific word, or part of speech. So, that unfolds is how the language linguistically developed.
    Today, I learned the comparative definitions and applications of Ca (my computer is not making accent aigue, sorry) and of Aqui. The visual concept behind Ca is absolutely engrossing, to me, revealing the singular nature of the people; indeed, although and in words, expressions and grammatical construction, even similarities (say, to Spanish] abound yet, in sound and identity entirely unique is Portuguese and so, necessarily also its people and representatives.
    Let me, please add that and to your video today, here given that the on-screen background color blue to the white font (of your verbal explanation) written out comes through much clearer and far easier to read than the video on numbers ("Saying numbers 1-100; 100-1,000,000"); (For, as noted in a previous 'Comment' the yellow font against the light colored wall, into this pale background literally the numbers and written words blending and dissolving does pose a difficulty to see and to read. them. Today's video however, and with the blue background, acting as dialogue box is a vast visual improvement that only enhances the quality of your video and in turn, facilitates learning. To the host of your valuable videos, will you not, please consistently apply similar color treatment ?
    Adeus por agora e com tantos agradecimentos de apreço.
    Ficar bem, por favor e melhor saúde sempre. /D.C/

    Thank you so much as always, Marija!
    One question: you said that "aqui" is always used with pets, but you also gave a few examples with "cá" that translate to "come here."
    Would the difference be that in the latter, the person being addressed is not (yet) currently present in that location, or is it more complicated and nuanced than that?

    • @portuguesewithmaria
      @portuguesewithmaria  10 місяців тому

      Hi Adam, yes, it would be too rude to call a person by saying "aqui" 😃 it's just a command.
      Let's imagine I want to show my friend something in the kitchen, I can say- anda cá, vem cá, so we are using the verb in imperative form, TU person, you can also use it in the 3rd person, formally- venha cá, asking someone to follow you, to go with you somewhere, or to come to you.

    Adorei o seu vídeo! Continue a levar a nossa língua além-fronteiras! 😃 Porém, "dá cá ver" nunca ouvi. Não soa nativo. No máximo diríamos "dá cá a ver", mas ainda assim o mais natural seria "deixa cá ver". Parabéns pelo seu canal. 🤓

      Hm, quiseste dizer- "that company is not on this address"? A/essa empresa não é/fica aqui. ☺
      usamos o verbo "estar" para falar da localidade temporaria e os verbos "ser/ficar" para falar da localidade permanente. "Não estou na empresa, sai". "A minha empresa é/fica a 10 minutos daqui".

      I am from Serbia, I should actually write it this way: "Марија" but I adjusted it to Latin scrypt so that it's clear to the viewers what name it is. My language is a phonetic language which means that one letter represents one sound and the way I write it is actually how everyone pronounces it /marija/. I dropped the letter J on purpose on the channel because I'm sick of people calling me wrongly because they are too lazy to realize that it's the same name but in another language just spelled differently. My name is neither /mariʒa/ nor /maridʒa/ but /marija/.
