Guarantee there was no backstory when 173 was originally written, just a statue that makes your head literally spin if you aren't looking at it. Art imitates life. This was a really good origin story, really no rhyme or reason why it came to be, it just did, and I love that.
This SCP is based on a real world sculpture that was made for an art exhibition. This origin story is a tribute to the artist.
There’s another Irgun story. About it being made and abused by children. Or something. Supposedly made out of stuff from a construction site. No artist involved. I liked it better

@@Sucker4Suede I prefer the peanut not having any backstory. The fear of the unknown was what drew me into SCP's in the first place after all. Give them backstories, and they become only half as scary. Sometimes no explanation is better

Only the original picture, because it's copyrighted. It wasn't because if the artist though. He was fine with using the picture. But it was easier(and safer) for the wiki that way, because of the creative commons license stuff.
This story explains how I always felt about the statue, everyone thinks its lame, even calling in peanut for its looks. I always gave it the name " Famous statue " Looking at it, admiring it, the only way that it would spare you.

He was pretty pleased by how well it was received as far as i know.
It was only changed because under the creative commons license you're not allowed to use copyrighted pictures, even if they allow it.

A laser strong enough to inscribe that statue with a good haiku of protection and peace would be great. Looks like the randomness impasible manner that was formed made the statue to act chaotically. So a laser artist is needed to inscribe the statue with positive haiku to counter the initial bad haiku made before.

Nope, there is no 'canon' for SCP universe, but I go with a simple origin for the sculpture. It's the anomalous creation of a pretentious tool of an artist in AWCY, representing humanity. Demanding attention, violent if it doesn't get it, and produces nothing but gore and sh*t.

Please no just no.. I think I speak for most true scp fans when I say that I’m sick and tired of SCP channels going down this route of “sad origin story” or “scp vs blank”.. scp explained use to be my go to channel and now they are just recycling the most well known scps with different stories. It sucks

like most things it simply anomalous. Its part of the insanity of creation and exactly what the artist wanted to create. something completely incomprehensible to exists for no reason nor can it be explained why it came into being simply that it did. This happens all the time at the SCP foundation

Please listen to what the community has been saying about SCP channels taking this route. Scp Explained has sold their soul to the sad origin story and crossover devil and I don’t want to see another good UA-camr go down that route. I will watch anything you release but I can’t say I will be happy if you choose to keep making these kinds of videos. I haven’t watched an scp explained video in over 2 weeks and they were my favorite channel.. you and dr.bob have to keep the scp channels alive

I do some research in google about scp and I just found out
Scp-173 is a described as being an "art piece made" by a woman out of her husband whom she killed by a baseball bat for forcing her abortion. This gives credence to the "baby" sculpture.
