I didn’t know that ghost was getting big on tiktok until a friend from high school told me they had heard Mary on a Cross on tiktok and wanted song recommendations. Ghost is the last band I would’ve expected to get popular on tiktok, but I think that’s the ultimate sign of a band making it. Reading through these comments almost brought tears to my eyes. Ghost is the first band I watched grow from relatively unknown to a chart topping band and I’m so happy to see people experiencing the same feelings I felt a decade ago

@@morgan5370 to me Mary on a cross has quite a different vibe from a lot of there other songs but I think if you like this one there is a good chance you’ll like life eternal life eternal is a more slow kinda you know sadder song but it kinda has a close vibe I’d check it out lol

loving the part "your beauty never really scared me" because quote from the secret history by donna tartt is always engraved in my mind and it says "beauty is terror. whatever we call beautiful, we quiver before it." this verse from mary on a cross always reminds of that quote and i think it would mean even if beauty is terror, and we are afraid of it, yours is familiar, and it doesn't scare me. it never made me afraid of you, and if that couldn't, nothing did.
I also thought of that quote!! It also makes me think of how Mary has been called the "second Eve" (as she was humanity's second attempt at perfection) and Eve was said to be incredibly beautiful. So Mary would also by by association, but the kind of beauty that is held by someone untouched by literally any sin or negativity

I knew of.ggost. never listened to them. But this song on tik tok got my heart and now It is on my "artists to explore" list lol

As a long time listener since middle school, the attraction Ghost has been getting all of a sudden makes me happy to see how far they’ve come 🤧🤧
They're on Tik Tok? I'm so proud of this band lol. I saw their first show in Canada, the Infestissumam tour, tickets were like $22 with no VIP in a tiny club for about 50 people. I see them every tour and it's been like watching a seedling grow into a beautiful flower.
The first time I heard them was when their first single Ritual was played on Octane XM. Crazy how long it's been. They've been my favourite band for.. Nearly a decade. I met Forge as Copia on the Pale tour. Can't wait to see them again. It's been way too long. He's never once released a Ghost song I don't like.

I don't give a shit about Grammy's but I was still overjoyed when they won the Swedish Grammy and then a US one because he's worked so hard for so long and he deserves recognition for his talents. I know he sees his albums as a progression of improvement, I respect that, I personally love all the albums.
Even Opus Eponymous, even though he only plays one or two songs at most at this point, I still love the doom metal album. I'm very open with music. That's why I love Ghost so much. It's dynamic.

I personally like all of it, I prefer the material with Martin but the new music is pretty good. I will say even though I bought 3 different copies of impera it was easily their worst album and it's still not bad. I don't like the misrepresentation of ghost on social media though, they are easily is the most misinterpreted group.

Idk what people think of them or really care, it's extremely difficult to misinterpret Ghost when Tobias Forge routinely says what he's doing is akin to drawing a little moustache on the Pope, and has always rejected the idea that he believes in Satan or any other Christian ideological beliefs.
Anyone who doesn't know that doesn't know anything about the band and thus is not someone I'd be interested in listening to speak on the subject. I feel like one major issue with responding to those people is that you're inadvertently validating them. Giving them attention perpetuates the amplification of a voice not worth listening to.

I feel like leaving a comment because im so glad they blew up with tiktok recently! Ive been listening to them for nearly 5 years now. They dominated my teenage years and helped me forge my taste in metal (even though back then I had no clue what the real signification of each song was lol). I remember being very sick and bed restrained for 2 full weeks and only playing the prequelle album on loop the whole time because it never got boring… they’re easily in the top 3 of my favourite groups of all time and my favourite metal group ever! Cant wait to see them on tour one day ^^

Ghost helped me recover from religious traumas, helped me through my breakup, it gave me something to look forward to and distract myself with. Though my days of working at Hot Topic are over, I still listen to Ghost every day on my drive to work. If I could thank Tobias personally I would, because he helped save my depressed ass and make me feel like a functional 20-something human. Tl;Dr Ghost is awesome and I hope they become more popular and help others the way they helped me.
