The best thing that ever happened to my drawing improvement is that I discovered you😍 the wonderful way you teach has helped me tremendously thank you so very much!
What you said about having a few landmark points that stay in a permanent place, and other points around it can be kept more flexible and movable until the accuracy is found, was really helpful. I'm going to be keeping that one in mind. Thanks.
I've enjoyed this video, Florent has the capability of to explain clearly the principles of drawing, and how he use the charcoal is amazing, thanks a lot
Simply amazing! This spoke to my heart since my charcoals come first and I know I have a long path of growth ahead of me. These are amazing pearls of wisdom. Thank you for sharing this!
I just found your channel and wow you're such a great artist and even better (for me), is that you're a great teacher too. Great lessons, I can't wait to explore your channel and learn. Excellent.
Excelente clase de dibujo . Desde mi punto de vista , mi principal foco de atencion son los dedos entre el pelo .Los ojos es muy reiterativo en todo tipo de imagenes . Saludos de un aficionado al dibujo
Great tips that seems to help with most of my problems while drawing portraits! It really helps to keep those few secrets in mind, I love the aproach of leaving some parts of the drawing flexible. Also, this is a superb artwork, I simply love it. Thank you!
Thank you Florent as you're given very useful tips about essentially geometrical shares, coherente ,landmarks as revérence points...l think it'll be a lot easier to do my portrait studies now!
These five ways that you have described are very simple and very good. I will definitely follow you on this 5th day, I will use it. I found it very interesting technique.
I started teaching myself to draw last year and I'm ever so slowly shifting from graphite to charcoals. There's a rawness with charcoal that can't be had with graphite. I was wondering if there are charcoal holders, that work similar to lead holders. I ask because I have Osteoarthritis in my left arm and both hands, so holding charcoal can be a bit of a nightmare.
Thanks for your presentation and sharing your process. I've been painting for awhile now, but I recently started developing my portraiture more as I've always admired the work. Good job
Isn't reference line (usually vertical) anchor for artist drawing figure, face, bust etc. as well? With engineering background my sketches were always XYZ "coordinated" . :-) :-) :-) Impressed with your NITRAM sticks, I have ordered one of each from your NITRAM link. No art store is selling it here in my part of Canada, and Amazon charges $22 before tax for ONE box + $ 6 shipping.
I feel like there was more than 5 secrets to drawing in this video. Like, I will refer back to this video often long after I've watched it multiple times.
This video has definitely gave me stuff to consider when I start my fundamental of drawing class in college! So excited to show off what I learned here!
I just learnt a very helpful key from ur video ."every one has his own style" of shading. After being afraid of spoiling my drawing last night, this video just proved my fear ...wrong...Thanks a lot.
Hi Florent, with drawing do you ever use grids? I find drawing a very difficult thing to do free-hand, and to get utmost accuracy I try to grid and re-size. I also try to convert my images to black and white to get tonal values. Do you do this in your art work for any types of subjects? Thanks for the great videos!
Florent, very nice! What type of white pencil are you using? You said that it was "white chalk" but is it a conte pencil, which is more like a crayon, right? Is there a benefit of using that vs. using white charcoal?
Using the eyes as visual landmarks is risky...who would have thought? It’s true I learned! My favorite subject does have a wall eye that’s important to getting his look.
Lately, I have learned a little more about the advertisements that play before and during content. Do I correctly understand that the vlogger receives more compensation if I do not “skip” past the ad? I just watched 18 minutes of advertising before this video. I stared doing this for preferred bloggers in the hopes that they receive the compensation they need to maintain their channel. Thanks in advance!
Hi, is this really nitram charcoal? I have square nitram charcoal in three different grades, but it doesn't seem anywhere close as dark as yours on the video. Kind regards.
Also look at Nathan's Fowkes charcoal figure drawing if you want to learn about drawing. He has a book on it too. And also, of course, and without a doubt: Cesare Santos.
I left the material list in the description box. it's arches watercolor paper heavy grain but I forgot which kind exactly; i tone it myself before starting with a wash of gouache.
This needs to be reviewed several times, he has good points , his teaching is simple and easy to understand but as he said, "It takes time."
Rarely can someone that possesses such talent, teach others. Thank You!
