    Can't wait for the review of the version 2 of the Pulsar line up! I really like those, main issue being that Contagrip tends to suffer a lot in downhill running, and you end up having no logs (so no grip) after about 300 to 400 km :(

    Great shoe however, I feel like it is slightly less stable than the Pulsar "dry version". Perhaps it has to do with the "taller" lugs raising you further off the ground. I've also found that even a half mile of road running on this compound deteriorates the lugs alarmingly fast.

They just dead to me. They were great and yeah, I took them to 100 K but I surely didn’t enjoy that last 12 I think question on these what is the ground feel like tried summer in the pulsar of the non-S lab and I thought they were pretty dead on the ground him for like in ground field of just curious if you if you had to get this, but that was like thanks Ray video

    I loved the sense 4 so I bought some ultra glides last year but found them to be too unstable on rocky terrain. I'd love to replace the sense pro but I really don't know what to get now. (I work for a ski shop so we get salomon discounts). This seems like the 2nd best after sense pro

    How are you doing with blisters on these? I had the 10's.. caused significant blisters on 10+mile runs under 2nd/3rd nails, toe ends.. 2nd pair 10.5 still caused them, but less so, not as snug..Some rocks got in..

    Hey Jeff, it's Jeff. I know you're sponsored but do you have a special link for referrals? I'm not looking for a discount. I just want Salomon to know I came their direction via your recommendation. I was hoping to support you in that way when I purchase their shoes here soon. Never tried the brand before but seeing what you put them through continuously has encouraged me to give them a go now that my Sauconys are on their last miles. P.S. Love the channel. I wanted to love the Pulsar but found it to be too narrow especially in the arch area and also considering I run a lot of single track trails where there is a noticeable camber in the trail which resulted in the Pulsar hurting my feet in the arches. Since the SGs fit similar I suspect they wont work for me…as much as I was hoping that they wouldn’t be as narrow

    • @JeffPelletier

    • @baydet

      I think problem not in the narrowness of the shoe but in the stack height. I’m feeling less stable in pulsar and rolled ankles several times. But I don’t have any problems wearing s-lab sense which as narrow as pulsar but lower to the ground hence more stable.
      In my opinion pulsar is much more demanding shoe to your feet. If your feet are strong, and your running technique is good, you’ll fly in these shoes. Otherwise, you might not enjoy running in pulsar

    I bought the new red and white S/lab Pulsar early this year, the best and most comfortable shoes i ever used love them, but i would love them even more if the had a little more grip and protection, now i need new ones with more protection for a 50k trail race coming up and i can't decide if i should buy the S/lab ultra 3 v2 or these The S/lab Pulsar Sg. I´m definitely going to running on more harder/rocky surface roads rather then super soft ones. i usually just sign up trail races between 20-30k but now im going for 50k for the first time and need the perfect shoes. Any advice would be good.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier Рік тому +2

      I’ve actually been using the Slab Ultra 3 v2 more lately for the reason you mentioned, they offer more protection underfoot. I also find they work better for distances over 50k than the S/Lab Pulsar SG so are much more versatile overall.

    Thanks for this informative video!
    The Sense Pro 4 is one of my all time favorites, but it is now hard to find.
    As for a replacement, I think in Salomon's current lineup, the S/Lab Pulsar SGs make the most sense...
    I just put my feet in the shoes in a store. The fit seems great but they are probably much less stable than the Sense Pro 4s. I could live with that if the outsole is much better than the SP4 in the wet. This is my only complaint with the SP4, the grip on wet rock (granite or limestone) is really lacking.
    Is this Contagrip compound really better (as advertised)?

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier Рік тому

      Totally agree. While not a perfect replacement for the Sense Pro (also my all time favourites), it’s the closest we’ve got.
      I find the traction to be great - but one thing that can affect how it performs in different conditions is the lug depth and spacing. There may be a bit less surface area on the Pulsar SG than the Sense Pro which can limit traction on some surfaces.

    • @antoinedaina355
      @antoinedaina355 Рік тому

      Thank you@@JeffPelletier . What about the outsole compound. I guess it is not the same Contagrip, correct ?

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier Рік тому

      I might have misunderstood you actually - thought it was the grip on the Pulsar SG’s that you found lacking. I believe it’s a similar Wet Traction Contragrip used in both, although I’m sure not if that’s something they continue to improve each year or not.

    • @antoinedaina355
      @antoinedaina355 Рік тому +1

      @@JeffPelletier Sorry for not being clear. SP4 are Contagrip MA. Maybe the Wet Traction compound is better. I would dream about Salomon to make a deal with Vibram…

      I’ve used the regular S/Lab Pulsars for quite a few long runs and races 50km+ and they’re great for dry trails. The soft grounds do offer a little more foot protection thanks the lugs, in case you’re worried about them being too minimal.

    Hey Jeff! I'm looking for my next Salomon trail runner and want to potentially switch things up from the Sense Ride line. With you being a bit of a content expert on the Salomon line, I'm looking at the Pulsar Trail and Trail Pros, as well as the SLab Ultra 3s... how would you compare for a runner that's used Sense Rides for years prior and is trail running 2-3 times/week (moreso dirt, crushed limestone and XC ski trails than consistent soft ground).
    A bit of a loaded question but appreciate your responses, as always. Also, keep up the great work on the 2023 training series! 🤙

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier Рік тому +3

      I’d forget about the regular Pulsar Trails and look at the Pulsar Trail Pro 2. I think you’ll find they fit similar to the Sense Ride, but with the built-in gaiters which I personally love. The energy blade and their slightly higher stack height make them best for crushed gravel and more cruisy dirt trails, rather than really technical stuff.
      The Slab Ultra 3’s have become by go-to for longer runs over the past few months but are at a higher price point. But they’re probably best for more technical trails than the Pulsar Trail Pros. They really can do everything.

    • @drewking
      @drewking Рік тому +1

      @JeffPelletier Perfect, that's the general sense I was getting as well. Appreciate the reply and feedback! Would you say the SLab Ultra 3s fit similar to the Sense Rides/TP2s and perform similarly on terrain that isn't as technical? Not overly concerned about price point, just want to love my next trail runner.
