We beta tested this during the free phase when it was just created, it's fantastic and the team behind it are a good bunch of folk, So i love the product. But the video is click bait and I am guessing paid advertising. It's not how to REALLY deploy apps, and gives the wrong impression. That being said, the video was informative if someone is in the need for a self managed solution.
Thank you for saving me the 9:00. I am trying to help my environment, not see a sales pitch.
Luckily I have over 100 other videos for you to enjoy. Thanks 🙏
Viewed this at the right time. Signed up using your code. Good Stuff
Awesome to hear. Really hope it helps!
It’s really incredible and easy to deploy like this.
I was practicing to do this when i assigned the group that the device is assigned it showing available to install not straight away installed in the device
Do they have a list of applications available for deployment?
Hi
, i have created an VPN tunnel on Intune for MDM. and its working fine for my iOS devices. the problem is for the Android devices tunnel initiated and in browser everything working fine but Android Apps(slack, workday) not working or extremely slow. can you guide me please how to fix this.
Thank you
Pure gold. Especially for MSPs with multiple customers to manage.
Exactly! I didn’t even look at that part in too much detail, but that’s the icing on the cake!
How to disable macro settings via Intune, by default macros are disabled but users can go Macro Settings and enable it. any wat to gray out the Macro settings in excel via Intune.
Dear Dean after trying this solution and Patch My PC. Could you list Pro and Cons, eventually make a video of it, even comparing modern store (winget) for Intune? How do you think about it?
nice, I wonder if the packages could be retrieved and pushed to SCCM :D
Does this also update the apps deployed?
Its more keeping apps up to date that is the current downfall rather than installing apps I find.
I agree. Given my limited experience with this tool, I would have thought the “auto update” feature would help with that.
i have a self develop powershell script to install softwere , but need user to manual to click Next
I think you're best Microsoft vloggers in the world. If not the best, probably near the top 5.
Wow! Thank you!
My concern with WinGet, is it does not support using a Delivery Optimisation plan currently. For very large organisations i foresee this being an issue. Does this solution offer any performance/content sharing integration. I cant find anything in their documentation.
I doubt it - I think it just uses winget.
Now that looks cool.
If only there was any similar service for macOS devices...
Strugging to package and update software as I am not that used to Intune yet.
I agree! I’m recording a series of MacOS content over on my other channel UA-cam.com/@deanellerbymvp :-)
Does AutoPkg have an intune plugin yet?
Why would you pay per tenant every month. Wouldn't you typically do this once and then remove the tenant from the service?
This seems decent, but given that it uses winget I'm not sure what the point of it is versus using the new store experience? Intune>Applications>Windows>Add>Microsoft Store App (new)
The new store app experience is not great yet - it is being improved, though.
I wonder how this will compare to Microsoft’s new store experience when they add in the winget repo. As far as I can tell the only advantages to this will be the auto update function and that it currently installs to the system context.
Who knows how long Microsoft will take to provide a system and user context option for that though.
@@joshuafrias7455 fair point, I did speak to one of the WinGet team on Reddit a couple of months ago. I was whining about the new MS Store and they did say that they were adding the WinGet repos shortly. What that means is anyone’s guess.
@@joshuafrias7455 Well erm... they might just have done this!? I went to add Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager to Intune this morning and noticed that the package allows you to select System under the install behaviour (it defaults to user). Just tested and it correctly installs to the system.
Oh wow. I didn’t see that announced anywhere…
Wow, you are correct. I even see Visual Studio in there today. Light em if you got em!
awesome
:-)
yes but is it a lef tenant or a loo tenant?
Have tried integrating with my tenant but seems it does not login even after giving consent. any ideas? Thank you
do you have conditional access policies limiting login from only specific locations?
Does it work during Autopilot ?
It does interact withe endpoints, it works with Intune directly to keep applications up to date within Intune, so if you have appls deployed via Intune they will get installed with AP, This app just deploys them INTO Intune.
@@Devvbot Thanks for your answer, I understand that it just keeps the apps in Intune up to date.
However WinGet.exe is used to install applications and it does not work natively during autopilot
@@skwino2011 I’m not sure this uses winget? If it does you’d be better going with free solution like Winget AutoUpdater with whitelisting?
Yeah - it uses WinGet.
Whilst it may not work during Autopilot, it'll work shortly after the devices are logged into, which may be an option. Or not.
This is really similar to patch my PC but more expensive
It is similar, yes, although I’m curious how you determine it’s more expensive than PMPC? This is a small one off cost per tenant, so for an org with 1 tenant it’s quite cheap?
@@theCMC To be honest I'm not too familiar with the pricing of PMPC so 😅
PMPC is at least 2k. This ends up costing around 300usd per year. This is much cheaper.
So they're just using winget and the community winget repos I guess.
You can do this yourself pretty easily with some very basic powershell scripts and a reusable win32 packager.
How can I deploy a home-grown application?
Is it MSI, executable, or something else?
@@theCMCIt is for *.exe file. Thank you.
It doesn't work intune won't deploy apps to my vm's
This looks third party. What's the background of the site? Connecting a third party app to your tenant with any permissions would depend on the security procedure. It looks easy, and nice, but this seems... weird
Fully agreed! This is definitely a third party app, hence it requesting some Read and one Write permission. Always consult your security team and follow your approval process before adding third party apps into Intune. Good shout!
It's no different to using a solution like PatchMyPc where you grant permissions via an Azure Application.
cant even try this shit bcos security concerns. u could even lose ur job
None of the real apps we used are available through winget so this doesn't work for our org.
Do you have an example?
This just packages the app for you. This isn't really worth the price. You're basically completing the steps with a more simplified GUI. It's possible to do everything this is doing without paying the extra subscription fee.
Hi Dean,
I was just on the chat with them and this is the reply I got from them
"Funny you ask, I had a meeting with my business partner today as we have been getting this question. We have decided to leave it at the price it's at."
So maybe It's a good idea to get it now with your code?
Oh interesting. I assumed the beta price would increase. I'd have said it's worth more!
It was nice of them to make the code available to be honest! I always run my reviews past the developer before I release them incase there's something they'd like me to amend before it goes live.
so this was just a long ass ad?
Seems like giving a lot of corporate information away to a 3rd party service. Is this basically a paid partnership?
5$ Dollar Discount for a cheap 25 bucks Azure Tenant a shame on the enterprises not willing to pay 2.5k for this modul...😂😂😂
sales pitch, paid shill.
Nice but it costs money and in our company nothing should cost any more money. Welcome to swabian-germany. So sadly no option for us because it's not free if you want to rollout custom applications with it
