Well....Now I can blame my bridge for not playing well.
My violin doesn’t have a good soul.

I always love seeing Olaf. I always have mad respect for a guy who can basically break shit whenever he wants just because he knows for a fact that he can fix it.
I know nothing about violins, but I can tell he's WICKEDLY talented! I love seeing him create something that many people admire.
@@Tsukasamimi haha i love your RADICAL vocab dude! And yeah Olaf's rad too.
And I like how he has a good sense of humor🙌🏼👌🏻
Olaf has a channel it’s called Ask Olaf the violinmaker
I got my viola made by Olaf. Well, when I say viola, I really mean a violin with viola strings because he’s a cheap asshole
I love how Olaf was the one suggesting doing weird things just for the fun of it this time 👍🏻
Yeah i loved it too, bc its teaching us in a fun way - we don't even know we are learning until we've already learnt it! Lol. But it's true!
It's kind of amazing to be given permission to screw around. There are variables that, as a craftsman, you KNOW you are not supposed to change because the result is bad, and making bad things is wasteful and maybe even damaging to your reputation. But once you can kind of crack the shell of "what's right" and get into that "We've allocated some resources to experimentation... for science and demonstration" -- then the creativity starts to boil. It's totally awesome.
@@rcb3921 yeah I know, I love you for saying this bc its fun, and there are so many silly social taboos about doing stuff we know is wrong like an inverted bridge, but its fun to fool around with it bc then we get creativity bc even though we know it won't work, we do it anyway and we get silly ideas that lead to o ther ideas and our creativity can grow. I didn't say that right but I know you know what I mean.
Hi, And in their next Grand Tour we will hear TwoSetViolin in Concerto for inverted bridge "The hammock"

Speaking of bridges, if anyone ever heard a cello or bass bridge pop off, it sounds like a gunshot.
jay yu dude, my school has an orchestra and istg one of basses bridge poped off and eleven people screamed two fell out of their chairs and I swear I almost yelled shooter
I play the bass and mine popped of... At a concert 😂
My mother was playing in a quartet onstage during a concert. They started the piece, and as they started the cello's bridge popped out. The others kept playing and the cello player got the bridge back in and didn't miss her entrance. That's when you know you are playing with professionals. My mom (on viola) said she was having a panic on the inside as she watched her friend getting it back in.
Heard? Had it happen while playing a cello I was renting. Not a pleasant experience, especially trying to explain it to the repairman.
@Jonathan Stiles Allow me to clarify: not only did it pop off, it snapped in two. Definitely beyond my skillset to fix at the time.

"It's kinda like a guitar bridge, isn't it?"
I wasn't aware that guitars had bridges...
Course they do. The design varies a lot from guitar to guitar and brand to brand, but they absolutely do. You need the cutoff point from where the instrument is strung and where it's played, otherwise it's just going to buzz against the body. If you look at a guitar like an Epiphone Sheraton II, it's much more obvious than say, a Fender Stratocaster which has a bridge that's almost flush with the body. Instead of elevating the Strat's bridge, they string the guitar THROUGH the body. But because of the design of a lot of guitars to have the bridge flush/almost flush with the body, it can be easy to miss it if you aren't looking closely
@@JohnDoe-xx8yw well actually the strings of a guitar rest on saddles, which are connected to the bridge. Also, him saying it's like a guitar bridge is not entirely correct. The only guitars that don't have a radius are classical guitars. Pretty much any other guitar one would encounter would have a radius just like a violin. Though not as small of a radius.
@@CrazedGin there are some flat radius electric guitars, there are metal shredders who prefer them.
@@sorrenblitz805 The only one I have ever seen is the Vigier Shawn Lane signature, but that's a super pricey boutique brand. But if you could find any other brand that makes that, I would love to see it, because I have never seen it before. Pretty much every metal guitar you will find with a "flat" radius has a radius around 16 inches, so...not flat.
Not only bridges, but saddles and necks.
2:06 now you can play chords!
with no hecking problem!
But all the string need to be in fourth tuning like the guitar. The Viola Da Gamba(family of Double Bass) is the good example. The Violin, Viola & Cello is Viole Da Braccio.

Actually hungarian folk music uses flat bridge deep violin its sounds amaizing
Yeah, but they know what they're doing when they play such an instrument.
Hi guys! Love your channel! And probably this whole topic or the concept for this video originally started out as a joke, but you also might want to know, that this instrument (one with a flat bridge) is actually an existing legit viola type used in traditional rural folk music of Transylvania, especially in the village of Nagysajó (Șieu). Apparently one can only play chords on this instrument, but thankfully that's the whole point of it. And it even gets crazier than that, because the musicians of the mentioned village used to swap the upper two strings of the viola (D&A) with a C and G string, and they tuned those up to the corresponding pitches, thus being able to play very closely packed chords, sometimes also using their thumb to reach lower notes on the original C string.
@pinta- mapache hi, I might be late, but I think this is it: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kontra I'm not a musician, so I can't say much about it. I've found this channel just a few days ago and I've been wondering if they ever have tried this instrument.
