I haven't played WoW in a while, but watching this is great. I remember I got this in 2004 in Best Buy when PC games were still sold hard-copy, everything was in a big rack of boxes but there were no WoWs left. There was another kid looking for it at the same time with his mom - the hunt was on. There must have been at least one WoW stuffed into the wrong spot - we searched, it was heated - it happened, I found it. Stealthy, I hid the box behind my back and lamented that there must be none left (fake sad face) and ghosted away, the boy and his mother none the wiser that I would soon be home, roaming the fields of thunder bluff........ Anyway I played for a couple of months and then stopped.
Man, Greg Kasavin was my hero. He still is by far the greates video game reviewer ever (miles and away). I used to spend SO much time on Gamespot, and I was pretty sad when Greg quit. Viva old Gamespot.
@@YepX It didnt fail. :D It literally surpassed retail in terms of active player count. Now ofcourse its dying since the content has been done and experiences experienced... about 2 years of glorious nostalgia. Didnt regret a moment of replaying it... not gonna touch retail tho, its not even the same game anymore. Its a theme park now, the game holds your hand all the time and all the distinct features and details that made the original so good have been ironed out for convenience and accessibility. Only graphics are still great... but you can get your fill of graphics by watching a movie so... no point in paying every month just for that.
@@Otakahunt I stopped playing in nov 2019 now because I got sick of how Blizzard was treating their player base, just a cash cow and not fans. Even with legacy content like classic wow, it wasn't enough for me to stay. Blizzard keep making up new expansions but there's no creativity or originality anymore.
id say YES get the game! if youve played the trial and liked it, Youll Love the full game Theres ALOT more to do, Raid , Do instances, PvP,BGs,Auction house, buying a mount, exploring and Alot more! Have a nice time playing
The problem about WOW is that it assumes everybody has tons of time to play it, therefore making it harder to get to higher levels. I mean, they could, for example, servers for more hardcore players (more challenging) and also for casual players, so it would be easier to et to higher levels.
0:50 That's what's missing from MMO's today, not end-game content, not balanced PvP, worlds that make you want to play, worlds that just leave you in awe.
i agree they need more content, but i didnt think blizzard expected such a fast rise in max level characters. it must be hard keeping up with the desired content while managing the game bug-wise as well.
@kakkashin May happen, but as GW2 is buy to play, meaning you can play it forever once you buy it, there are no monthly fees restricting you from playing, meaning you can easily play them at the same time.
I actually remember watching this review on gamespot back when WoW released. I was a FFXI player back then so I never bothered with wow except for a little quick free trial
well, there are just a couple of things i want to know about WoW (wich is why i watched this). Is there a system where you can make things (like in runescape with the smithing and mining) and then sell them to other players or to stores? I was addicted to RS for so long simply because it had the ability to create your own armor and wepons. also how is the archery class? do you have arrows/ammo that you can run out of and can you make arrows/ammo and bows/guns?
Actually the game support is fantastic, when I was playing it crashed completley and the support team told me everything to get the game working again and I mean every single thing
@@werdle92 but I'm a rank 14 pvper and hardcore raider. I expect everyone to min max and control their character just like my awesome self. Don't even join my guild if I see you back pedaling.... AarGh!
Back when WoW was good. Making friends on your server (none of this cross server PUG stuff), fully immersive exploration and gameplay (seeing a new zone for the first time) and most importantly a living world. None of this standing around in SW or Org waiting for a PUG, players would be out questing, helping others, exploring, making friends. Also, the game wasn't piss easy like it is now. Some fantastic memories and friends were made in Azeroth. Cataclysm truly was the apocalypse for WoW. R.
heh yes it was funny. Still one of the greatest games to have ever existed... unfortunately its not experiencable anymore since the world has been explored in every way possible. I would claim that oldschool wow is even now one of the most satisfying games to play... due to how the combat is designed and how the game is designed to hook you into playing more, all the way up to level 60 and then some! Cant quit before all raid bosses are down. :D
The details havent been announced. Some people are saying that it might be based around starcraft, but who knows. Hopefully they'll introduce it at the next Blizzcon.
I have a friend who is a real WoW nerd. He looks on the Net only about WoW (mainly PvP) clips, online communicates only in the WoW forums and his favourite band is the Elite Tauren Chieftains.
It's been announced already. It has a cinematic trailer and has 2 gameplay trailers presenting 3 characters. The only thing that is uncertain is the release date, which seems to be very far away...
@wayteyy: Aion wasn't the WoW-killer many people expected it to be: just a WoW clone that improved the most superficial areas (and did great at that) but left out the substantial elements that made WoW what it is. Guess the only thing that may eventually kill WoW is Blizz's next MMO.
I am buying this game soon have played the trial. I have a rogue on the eonar server named zaney. I love this game because of it's variety of classes and Races, everyone has there place
@LogicalReign well,I dunno, try setting yourself a time limit on a clock. When your limit is up,you turn the game off immediately and/or set only certain days for yourself to play on E.G Mondays(for the Monday blues)Wednesdays and Fridays(to celebrate the weekend).
Nah, something that still hasnt been officially announced yet, but Blizzard has been talking about this new mmorpg for a while. Hopefully they'll give us some ideas of what it is at the next Blizzcon

@ScreagleAce I used to think no but I decided to try the trial and was still iffy. So I decided to buy the battle chest which comes with a free month and I have to say it is pretty damn fun. At first 15$ a month seems like a lot. But if you even have the lowest paying job it's nothing really.
@YummyFrenchFries1 Ahhah. I kinda doubt that : /. Many WoW players tend to try new games, BUT they come almost ALWAYS back. You grow so strong bonds to the game! Almost all of my friends have tried to lessen their playing or quit the game, but they always came back. Happened to me too. The game is just so good
Runes Of Magic Is that game your looking for, its completely free to play and to download, its basically the same as world of warcraft but with many different features, it hasn't been out as long as world of warcraft but im sure you will enjoy it as much as you did with world of warcraft.

well what i do is , time myself , i play 4 hrs a day , maybe less , and if i exceed the 4 hrs or the time that i set down , i do 100 push ups , if i cant do the push ups no WoW the next day xD , after 2 or 3 wks you should be trained to get off when needed . Just alittle advice =D
raids which are huge dungeons and bases which have bosses which are fun and challenging to take down with 40 or so people. Theres pvp which is really fun and you can pvp for gear, theres so much that you should just try it its like a drug its so awesome
no its true i did, i was the bull creature thing when i started out, and the guy told me to get these feathers then pelts and all this other stuff, which i got from killing things...
to MeowMix140 there the archery in it is awesome and yes you do have ammo that you can run out of, if you like archery then iif you get it definately try a hunter as they are the best archers, as for making ammo i cant quite remember as i havent played in a few months =] its a great game though
well, i player with all horde races, and with night elves, humans, and draenei from the aliance, but now i think i finally chose a race, my female human warrior, she is soo perfect
This game is truly an amazing accomplishmet, so many games trying to beat it..but you can't build a game that help set the frame work for the gaming your building. its going downhill now, but wow has some good memories.
Greg Kasavin was one of the best, if not the best reviewer Gamespot ever had. When he left it was a sad sad day. Amazingly talented guy.

Vanilla wow was the most fun i ever had with a video game in my life
It's sort of funny to look back on this and see WoW's combat be called "fast paced" and "action packed." At least, in terms of leveling content.
