I bought one all original, mirror copy of yours about 5 years ago for $800 from a farmer in WI. I am extremely hesitant to restore it. I just do mechanical maintenance (piston rings/ crank seals/ nikasil coated cylinder) and ride it with repop plastics, another set of rims/ tires to protect the OEM stuff. Have fun, beautiful bike 👍

A mx 125 was my first dirt bike back in earley 80s. Mine was a dog with terrible suspension. That i realized after i got a brand new CR 125 . but it was fun! Cool piece of motto history! Wish i still had mine!

@@chrismorgan-b6c yeah the suspension is terrible but it reminds you how far things have come 🏁

Ha! For a sec I thought the kick starter activated the garage door opener! I had one of these when I was 15 around 1980. Absolutely bulletproof and rode her hard! Disconnected the oil injection and ran premix. Seized it and rebuilt it a few times....super easy to bore and slap a new piston/rings in. Try working on a new MXer today! Don't dump money into it...just rattle can the frame, exhaust and put new tires on and ride it!

Yeah mine is still running great but maybe a little on the rich side. I need to adjust my oil pump 🙃

I just got a my first dirt bike. A 1975 Yamaha MX100. I’m gonna try to get it running and clean it all up. It doesn’t have spark, but I was told it needed new piston rings. So I’ll just go with that diagnosis first.

Luckily a lot of the parts are available on eBay 👌🏻🏁

Dennis Harrison yeah I love this bike. Don’t ever plan on selling it honestly, such a cool and fast machine. I’m still on the stock bore 👍🏻

I had one back in the early '80's, I rode the wheels off that thing! I'd love to find one to restore and ride again!

Just picked up the bike. Do you know what rims are the OEM rims for this bike? Mine has DID rims, exactly like my 73 and 74 Honda elsinores.
Someone said these had TAsakaga or something like that. Thanks

You caught me at a good time. Just happen to be in my shop. I believe my wheels are OEM and there are no branding on them.

Very nice bike. I've got one of those I picked up years ago but have never tried to get it running. I'm about to pull it out of storage and see what it will take to get it running and restore it. Where did you buy the plastics? Mine are really rough. I'll be subscribing to follow along.

mrbojangles thanks! Make sure it has spark and the oil pump is working. A lot of parts are still available. Goodluck on getting it running 🏁
