Musical theatre is about much more than hitting the notes, Jodi's passion is palpable. Halle is massively talented but she can't act and sing simultaneously... or the movie was so rushed they wouldn't let her. All the live action remakes have been rushed cash grabs so it wouldn't surprise me if she wanted some additional takes but wasn't allowed.

Although she already had collections of “ the above world”, which already told her stories, but she still wanted something real. She wanted to experience on her own, earned her own point of views and knowledge. The world is scary and sometimes can be cruel to women, but understanding the real world is the key to grow some girls into women. I understand how Ariel had been through, because I have been exactly like her. My conservative and loving parents tried to protect me by all costs, provided me everything I needed for an easy and comfortable life in my hometown. But all I wanted was going to study abroad and earning some working, traveling experience. I had a big collection of foreign friends and treasure from different countries 😂, stories of religions and cultures that my friends told me about. But “ no big deal, I want more “. Yeah, I want to discover on my own, write my own stories and grow into a more experienced, strong and and adventurous woman. I want to enjoy life, see what makes me happy and what I can learn and should avoid . The outside world is scary, but it is all worth it.
Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of one day in grade 7 when my middle school had a talent show and he girl with the very last performance sang this song. She has the best voice I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I never tend to have much reaction to music, but her voice made me tear up. She sang every note beautifully and perfectly in tune and it made me wish I joined chorus instead of orchestra (I absolutely love my violin😭)
ariel was the first redhead character i ever saw--as a little redhead girl who had never seen anyone like me it meant a lot. halle bailey is very talented and put on an amazing performance, but the original will always be the superior for me ❤

Ariel has always been my favorite princess just because of how curious she was and how she wanted to explore so much more like I do. Both Halle’s and Jodi’s are great for different reasons. Halle’s has a very strong and powerful voice but I felt like Jodi did a better job of showing the meaning and the curiosity of Areil. And for that reason the original will always be my favorite. (I’m not judging Halle though her singing was magnificent this is just my personal opinion.)
When me and my father were visiting my mom because she was very sick with ovarian cancer I was comforting her by singing this song to her it was one of my favorites because I could identify with Ariel and when I was done singing the song my father was crying I had to sing this very song to let my mother know then I will always be her Little mermaid just like Ariel from the movie she has always been one of my favorite Disney princesses in fact she's one of my top five favorites the others are Jasmine Aurora Rapunzel and Cinderella!
