I pulled this off today at open mat on everyone. Amazing technique and it’s a unicorn because you’re baiting someone to any escape from something the a jiu jitsu principle.
Just taught the early part in class. Will review the rest of the video to teach next week. I'm not old but I prefer old man Jiu-Jitsu. Old man jiu jitsu is the most "proper" variation. Low energy.
Ok, I think this stuff is gold. BUT... I watched this once and tried to hit an early ghost escape on my brown belt buddy who was almost past my guard and ended up giving him my back before getting RNC'd. In hindsight, I don't remember getting that overhook like Kirk emphasized in the beginning.
The problem with the ghost in the GI is good players will grab a paper cutter grip on you and stop your head. I was hoping this video would address that.
He did address it. 13:10. Top person has a crossface and under hook. In order for the top person to put in a papercutter grip, they must take weight off their crossface side to feed that grip. When they take weight off, it's go time. If you wait until they have the grip, you have to go to something else, not continue using the ghost expecting it to work.
I'm getting caught in the transition. As I move my hand underneath to the other side they quickly switch to the paper cutter grip. So if I'm not fast enough I'm stuck.
@@jaredh713@jaredh713 the top person shouldn't have enough time to make any meaningful grips in that time unless you're telegraphing the move. In order for top person to get the grip they need to papercut you, they always always have to take pressure of their crossface and you would feel that instantly. But lets say they do get to papercutter, you can swing your legs like @ 9:05 which is a strong movement to power through whatever little attempt of a paperchoke top player has. Also, you can bump bump like @ 18:20. Top person will have a very difficult time holding you and will likely abandon papercutter grip for base/post hand. Another great option is you can reverse the paper cutter on them and go to the paper cutter choke he shows @ 20:30. Your grips will be superior to his and plus you'd be on top to finish because you just swept him. So many options.
Kirk is the MAN!
Good solid instruction
I love this content! Thanks for sharing ❤
That one is a game changer for me. The reason why I'm able to avoid the bottom position for a long long time.
[5:07] Ghostbusters Theme starts playin'

That loop choke is gold. Darce is also there especially for no-gi.

16:40 then connect to reverse figure four armlocks.
08:44 12:00 15:30
Kind of deep half guard entry
Guy in blue is danaher in his 30s
Danaher had hair back then but yeah, strong resemblance.

If you are getting stuck or a paper cutter, drill the mechanics in stages.
is that Vince Vaughn at the end?!
Brilliant detail 👌
