- “Extra’s” Tanika Ray chatted with Fantasia Barrino at a tribute to Aretha Franklin, where Barrino revealed the legendary singer gave her relationship advice and tough love over the years.

I especially enjoyed her singing with her mom on the Superbowl Gospel show "He's Done Enough" , I just love her spirit and anyone that she's done a tribute to dead or alive she always delivers.

It's good that Fantasia sang with other artists. It Just shows how she stands out and how great her artistry is. Fantasia deserves another grammy. But, we gotta nominate and vote for her. Buy her albums and listen to all her UA-cam videos. Don't just talk and complain. Do something about it.

I am really disappointed that Fantasia did not have a SOLO at the tribute. They keep pairing her with other artist. This was not right , she was the only female artist that did not sing a song alone. I believe the audience was anticipating her singing a Aretha classic alone. Doctor Feel Good would have been great for her. Fantasia just comes on stage and RIPS IT UP AND TEARS THE HOUSE DOWN !!!
That's okay, she's giving other a chance to salute them, remember she's the Queen of tributes. Can't no one take that from her. Plus she's letting the Academy of music know that she's here.

The thing is, the mainstream industry has no clue wtf to do with her. They need someone rehersed, someone tame, someone the audience can digest easily. At the Grammys, they literally turned down her mic when she was about to go off. They know that, if they let her have it her way, everybody else can just go home.

Fantasia is a force to be reckoned with! She’s powerful and she cannot be ignored. I’ve seen how she’s been slighted and paired with other artist, and being held down. It’s working together for her good, her time is not yet, but when the vision comes forth it shall speak (sing)and not lie . It may tarry, but it will come.

Thank God for the elders advice and wisdom. They teach from experience don’t make the same mistake. Lady Soul is gone but thankfully we got Fantasia and in the words of Aretha “she can sang”.

Joyce Cunningham That’s an unfair comparison. That’s not to say Fantasia hasn’t had a successful career and I hate that she’s overlooked when people mention successful American Idol winners. However, Jennifer won an Oscar, has done films, Broadway and live musicals, and is coaching on The Voice; Kelly is on her way to being a pop legend; and Carrie Underwood is Carrie freaking Underwood. Need I say more?

The ONLY reason Aretha chose Jennifer instead..is because Fantasia wouldn't sound believable as far as TALKING goes..the little girl voice just won't work..Aretha talked ..tho bashful in the early years..talked just the same..Jennifer TALKS well too..so in order to nail the "at home average family parts" a regular mature sounding speaking voice is needed.

ARETHA didn't like her and y'all know it. Fantasia could sing CIRCLES around ARETHA the past 30 years and Aretha was jealous of any artist that could hit a note higher than her. If you can't hit a note CHEST anymore, it's time to sit down.

@@beautifullymastered1914 I've been following ARETHA for 50 years and she NEVER has liked women who were STONE SINGERS. ARETHA was limited vocally. Look at how she was unresponsive when Fantasia honored her. But when A MAN songs her songs, she grins.

She usually chooses who honors her and it's NEVA really a vocalist that will tear it up. Yes Patti honored her on ESSENCE that year and sang AINT NO WAY and Aretha has NEVA (even in her hey day) been able to sing that song like Patti did. Ain't No Way belonged to Patti after that night. Look it up on here. 2ndly, Fantasia SANG HER HEART out to ARetha when she sang Baby I Love You to her (also on here) and Aretha just SAT THERE but when Rueben Studdard sang Angel, she cries. And that she was thinking about her dead sister mess doesnt fly.

Aretha Franklin may have gotten on her, but she still didn't listen. A chest tattoo, abortion, lawsuit for home-wrecking, and suicide attempt later she finally woke up. But, then she rushed to marry another (less financially secure) man all because he prayed for her one time. With her inability to make good decisions, she should have been trying to take her time with anybody new. But, when you can't control your flesh and lust, I guess it's better to wed than burn.
