2021 has literally been the best year for deathcore or just metal in general. It's always nice to see bands expand on their sound and really make themselves stand out.
This is a tough, *tough* call..
2019 still holds the title when you consider not only the releases, but the amount of resurrected bands that came back with unbelievable releases.
2021 is a _very_ close second so far. VERY close
Best year for music EVER imo. Most of my favourite bands have and will release music this year.
It's just good for metal and music in general Because i like rap. For example AJ Tracy's new album was 🔥🔥. I know people here probably don't like rap but i do 🤣🤣

@@RemmyRiffs our touring line up at the moment is David, Jeff, myself, and our fill in bassist Michael Cassese (you can find him on UA-cam if you want to check him out!).
We’ve been jamming with Michael for a while, but obviously haven’t had the chance to hit the stage with him yet because of the pandemic, so I’m looking forward to that!
The band has gone through so many changes over the years, while it’s never ideal, we pride ourselves on being able to continue and grow from it. I can confidently say that our live show is a massive step up in every way from our last tour in Jan 2020 and we are all so excited to get back out there.

Your not giving this band enough credit. Check their view count under all of their video's, check their listeners on Spotify, live show video's, how many people wear their merch at show's...these boy's are definitely out there in the public eye. There is a ceiling with this kind of music, SOTS will never be mainstream if that's what your looking for, but WITHIN this genre SOTS is most definitely recognized.

David’s really settled into his vocal style 💀 Integrating cleans was ballsy in this elitist genre of deathcore/slam, and they were tasteful, meshing well with those filthy vox. Can’t wait for the rest of the album to drop ✊🏻
I agree but…I feel they could of been a bit louder, almost like you could tell they were scared to do the cleans but tried it anyway and just kept it quiet. But it was a nice way to introduce cleans and will say it definitely went well with what came next 🤪

I didn’t like them, but I rarely like clean vocals. At least it was short. I also didn’t like the breakdown, especially the gliss-pick. I wish those could be left back in the mid 00’s where they belong. The rest of the track was 👍. It’s not CJ, though. 😒
*Edit: Ok… I’ve listened to this album all the way through multiple times now. I’ve changed my mind. I’m quite fond of it. Even the cleans. The vocalist is just as good as CJ, just in a different way. This is a great album.

The cleans really freshen the song up, adds great atmosphere. Also, the ending of this song is MASSIVE.
Signs of the Swarm just brings themselves to a higher level, these guys perform heart and soul to bring forth such amazing tracks, mad respect, they definitely one of my fav bands for sure.
This just changed my whole opinion of this band.

This has to be my favorite SOTS track so far. The production, the structure, the riffs, the melodies, the sheer relentlessness... Absolvere is going to be my AOTY for sure

Nothing tops Nightcrawler for me but this is sick. I don't really fuck with the cleans though. I get really annoyed when bands with disgusting vocals add cleans. It's like they're trying to appeal to a wider audience but that wider audience doesn't even exist.

These guys have evolved exponentially since their last release. I've just been a fringe fan of SOTS to this point, but they've always had me enamored with their skill level. Now it's the fact their actual songwriting is next-level-not just their abilities-that has truly roped me in. They're now an artist that I willingly seek out and am enjoying thoroughly. I haven't enjoyed deathcore this much since I was in high school

It's not commercial but it's quite modern. However, it is mostly proggy and the experimental, creative energy is so genuine, raw and all-encompassing that one simply cannot help but become engulfed in this track and totally consumed.
Great atmosphere, amazing band.
But how good have Signs of the Swarm become! Creative songwriting really stands out and David elevates the sound to another level. New favorite Vocalist.
They've actually gotten worse. Listen to their first 2 albums with the original vocalist. So much more raw & heavy with even better song structure and distinction between songs.
This is just a masterpiece...
I'm gonna probably need David to collab with Will Ramos from Lorna Shore, with his lows on lock and Will's highs on lock they could make a fucking masterpiece

This is the best shit I’ve ever heard from them. Their vocalist is so damn unique sounding (every other deathcore band’s singer sound nearly identical). And this was somewhere between progressive and deathcore. Absolutely insane. A total masterpiece.

When you think signs of the swarm is heavy and brutal. Then this absolute destruction of all existence comes along. Between the instruments, to the very unexpected cleans which work really well. Then the breakdowns just got heavier each time. With the name Death whistle this far exceeds anything I thought I could hear.
