Johnny Winter, in his most humble way, has told most guitarists to just about hang it up with this display of talent. He is "The Man!"
Holy shit..."Rumble"...I almost fainted at my keyboard! Not many people even know the tune..."Rumble!" I saw Link Wray play that a long time ago in the 70's. Johnny was my all time favorite.
How fortunate for anybody who got to attend his concerts.
I first saw Johnny around '72...5 other times since. Johnny was the "King!"
My first show was '68. Then 5 more including shortly before his death. The best picker I have ever seen or heard!
I also saw Johnny about 5 times over the years. He's my all time favorite
Glad to see so many great comments here about JW. I saw him 40 years ago and hearing this or anything he plays still gives me a jolt like it did back then. I don't have words to describe the the good times I've had listening to him.
RIP Johnny Winter..you're Still Alive & Well..
Lucky to catch some shows in the 70s, it was loud but it sure was fun!!! JDWIII was a master of blues/rock!!!
The late, great Johnny Winter, absolutely tremendous, gone, but definitely not forgotten!!!!!!!
Johnny Winter is my ShredMaster DeLuxe Blues Man!!!!!..Ever since 1969 Baby!! And his gravely voice just makes it that much more Special. He has the best sounding chord change-ups and well, you know about his riffing chopsl Just Fascimazing
I'm with you man...nobody...but nobody...could play Blues and R&R as well as Johnny. Shredding...chord change-ups...never being lost...never making a mistake...the "King of Kings" of Blues and R&R. I've seen him 6 times and he never was "less than superb."
Johnny's vocals were just about as good as his guitar playing. I have never seen another player that can sing and play lead guitar at the same time like him.
got to see jw 8 times. many times at the spectrum in philly. the last time was a theater in knoxville tn. wasnt long after that, that he passed away. still an awesome show. without a doubt one of the best guitar players of all time. saw him one time in a dive bar just outside edgewood md, it was back in like 78, 79. the whole time i was no more than 5 ft away from him. was an amazing show. now that building in a peep show, sex toy store.
This is the tour I got the chance to meet Johnny ...the nicest person I have met ...that was a good show
My very good friend and I saw Johnny on this tour at the Beacham Theater in Orlando and he ended that show with this same combo. We were jumping out of our skin during "It's all Over" and then, like flipping a switch he blended it into "Rumble" and immediately the whole crowd went into a trance and fell as silent as a church mesmerized by a musical master at the peak of his game. We talked about that for years but it wasn't until we found this video that we could relive it. Thank you for posting it up.
Seen him 3 times here in the uk love him since about 73 I bought import album blues experiment over cost a few coppers more but worth every dime John rip
The best of the best! No one, but NO ONE comes close to Johnny or Edgar. Thanks for posting! Got any more? Pleeeeeeeze?
Incredible talent!. JW has an endless vocabulary of licks. Take 10 secs of any one of his solos, pick up your guitar and study it, learn it. Inspiring!
Totally agree. There is so much learning in 10 seconds of him ripping it up. Especially when he keeps changing what he's doing. Sometimes it makes me laugh what he's doing. So much information in so little time. The best, the fastest, the greatest.
Far beyond WOW!!! Got to see him twice. Thanks Johnny. Pray you are at peace with God.
I do believe he is. When my friend and I saw him at the Bechum (sp?) Theater in Orlando we were buying our Tshirts and out of the blue my friend asked the guy working the booth what Johnny was really like and to our astonishment and delight, without hesitation, he said, "Johnny Winter is a God Fearing man" .
every time I listen to this it blows me away...
The Best of the Best !! 🇦🇷💎! By Far Ever !!
I appreciate him, absolutely fantastic.
Robust, whiskey and cigarettes vocals and one of the greatest bluegrass guitarist steel Dobro steel guitarist both innovative and influential
outstanding!!! thanks for this great post!
Great Post. Jimi, SRV great musicians no doubt. But JW is the best at what he does ,because he's the ONLY one that does it. lightning fast/slide pickin master!! I caught Link Wray in 75 . I thought Rumble was a groovy tune. But WOW I cant stop listening to this version. Thanks so much for the upload. PS Fuck the Hall Of Fame
johnny puts on a clinic wow!
Rock and Roll Guru,,,Listen to Rumble,,,Thats the DNA,,,,,,
I have been trying to learn guitar as an old fart. Rumble is one of the first songs I can play. So simple, yet not so simple. Wife is getting tired of it LOL.
how fast can you go? wow! it's all over now before it started!
Every now and then he knows it's kinda hard to tell but he's still alive and well............
I'm from Europe and I love JW... amazing "brillio"
Like the crowd singing along !
Dang that's some serious rockin guitar right there!!! :)
Well said gtrich1!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long Life Johhny Winter!!!
God Bless The God! May your resting place be anointed with yellow roses.
Best of the best
Legend...
He's fucking flying ! He really played great in the 90's with the amazing Jeff Ganz on Bass
Nice pair of 100 watt 4x10 MusicMan amps .
I disagree, I think his playing in the 1990's was when his playing ability started to suffer and slow down a bit.
@@ontariobuds , more like 93-94 . Thats when things changed for him in his personal life . He got depressed when he had to choose just 1 woman over having 2 . Then he went on anti-anxiety meds . Read his book Raisin Cain .
THE BEAST OF BLUES
RIP JDW111 and SUZIE Q
awesome as
JW por siempre vivo en tus fans!
according to Roling Stone magazine he is the 73th best guitarist of the world.
Mr Winter is not inducted in the RR Hall of Fame till today.
That's a travesty. No way in hell there are 72 guitarist better than Johnny Winter. I refuse to believe it.
Rolling Stone is a fuckin joke. The same clown who owns it owns the rights to the so called Rock hall of fame and doesn't have Johnny in there so you know their lists of whatever are bullshit.
Johnny Winter is easily in the top 5 ever , different but right up there with Page, Hendrix, SRV ...
Égal à lui même
Magnifique
Guitar genius,,,
just think what he could do with a whole guitar ! (joke) saw him live back in the 70's,
just an awesome guitarist
Great stuff! Now, if we could only find someone with video footage from his "And Live" days.....
Johnny is speedhand end slowhand yes'yes!
just outstanding, above the rest full stop
Outstanding video,,,, Fucking Johnny!!!!
@rockncleve yeahhhh!
a guitar singer that could sing
Icon
True statement, SRV had major Hendrix influence, Johnny was a peer and equal to Hendrix--Muddy Waters major influence on Johnny's slide style though.
Thats "Rumble" Link Wray
Johnny is the link
ACE!!!
Archeology and astronomy combination tout the Petra monolithic structures spirit technology revealed through dream interpretation and meditation.
Where is this show at ? Great Crowd !!!!
did he get that gee taarr from toys r us..?
Ronnie woods wish he could kiss Johnny's feet !! far superior guitar player to Ronnie ...PERIOD !!!
what !
Saw JW 8x and EC 2x.
EC is the Barry Manilow of rock/blues guitar.
Johnny is one bad %#$&&^$...shut your mouf! (Shaft hommage)
Rolling Stone opinions have no merit ;what so ever . The magazine might be more useful for hamster and birdcages
Always, always, always loved Johnny's version of "It's all over now" because he puts so much energy into it! Love the Link Wray as well. I still consider Johnny as one of the most under-appreciated guitar players in the world. Rock on brother Johnny!!!
Link Wray's was another song. It's All Over Now Baby Blue. But, Johnny is the most underrated guitarist. I never understood why. He's right up there.
