In Episode 1 of this series of Classic Flights I have taken we board the majestic 747 Queen of the Skies to indulge in some first class luxury with Thai Airways.
First Class on the Thai Airways 747 is sensational! This really is Royal First Class in a classic sense.
The Thai First Class experience starts when you arrive at Bangkok Airport and are greeted at the dedicated Royal First Class check in. You are then escorted through security and driven to the Thai First Class Lounge.
This first class flight review covers the first class lounge at Bangkok Airport, boarding the iconic Boeing 747, take off and the wonderful onboard service of the Thai Airways staff. I cover the first class cabin layout, the first class seat which converts into a fully flat bed and Thai Royal First Class amenities including their PJs! Dining in first class is an experience - and on Thai Royal First Class it is a wonderful experience!
The food is full of Thai flavours and there is so much food that you will definitely not go hungry!
This flight was filmed on TG475 from Bangkok to Sydney Australia.

Flight: TG475
When: February 2018

LOVE Thai Royal First. Flew BKK-LHR on the A380 and the meals/beverages were outstanding. Mid-flight, my iPhone fell through the partition between the seat and the window (upper deck). There was no way I could reach it. I informed the crew - the lead purser got straight to work and made a makeshift reaching device to get the phone. They sent me to another seat to be comfortable. After about 15 minutes, they had my phone back. Remarkable! They had to actually damage some of the seating to get into the area it was lost. I was so thankful and amazed. Over and above!
Love hearing that music; know the next 10 minutes or so are going to make me smile! Just reminds me of all the things I live about flying, the gorgeous lounges and staff X
Thanks Lisa - oh yes to be able to enjoy a pre-flight drink in the lounge and to fly again!
Having relatives in Thailand on the maternal side meant frequent (sometimes only) destination to fly and certainly with TG. My earliest memory is flying with their 747. Still remember vividly walking along that galley after watching the control surfaces and the wingtips on the starboard side is definitely cool. They are also the carrier when I first fly regional and international business class seats with while the premium economy experience goes to Cathay. Missing the queen of the skies and getting airborne quite badly, and hope to run into you someday during your trip. Congrats to the 100K subscribers!
Congratulations on the 100K subscribers !!! You highly deserved it.
I’ve been watching your videos since almost 4 years now !
Welcome back mate...the food alone would get me to go 1st...as you rightly said a brilliant flight with all you could need...and more. You and the team stay safe and well...not much light at the end of the tunnel here in Victoria at the moment...dreadful situation !! Thanks again !!
Thanks mate, all the best over there. Hopefully the numbers keep heading down and life can get back to some sort of normality.
@@DennisBunnikTravels Hear Hear take care DB !
First Love Your Shirt! Love The Print! Beautiful Lounge! Gorgeous Aircraft! Stunning First Class Seat/Cabin! I'll Probably Never Fly First Class On A 747! Envious You Did! Thanks Stay Safe! 💖
Thank you - it's a Ted Baker shirt i picked up a few years ago.
@@DennisBunnikTravels Thanks Dennis! Love Ted Baker Apparel!
1A is the seat for royal Thai family especial Princess Sirindhon. In case high majesty is onboard. This seat will be reserved for them.
Congrats on 100k!!!
Thank you!!
Congrats on making it to 100k!
Thank you!!
Love your vids Dennis! Never fails to brighten up my day! Stay safe :)
747 😍
I don't understand the fascination with seat 1A, though many/most flight reviews feature the reviewer sitting there. I agree that row 1 on the B747 is best because of the curvature of the airplane, but the 1A fixation extends to other equipment as well.
I know what you mean. On the 747 it's cool but on other aircraft in first class I tend to avoid it because it is the most well used seat!
Having used Thai many times, I am so sorry to see they are having major financial and other problems. Their staff deserve the best outcome possible.
Agreed, it is a very good airline and I hope it doesn't suffer too much. Cathay P is in trouble too I hear.
Yes it's so sad for all the staff going through this. Hopefully they will come out of bankruptcy and live to fly another day.
Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers, a great achievement. You've joined the big boys and girls club on UA-cam now, so we expect an unboxing video when you get your plaque!
Thanks - from all reports it will take some time to get through so that may be my Christmas video! 😂
I'm glad that you started a new chapter with Thai Airways
I had the same seat (1A) on the same route last year. Used "United" points which I purchased during a special promotion. You are right the Thai First Class lounge is one of the best. Using points is the only way we can afford premium cabins. So far have used them on Emirates (1st Class), Etihad (1st Class), ANA (Business), Qantas (Business), Fiji (Business), United (Polaris Business) between Australia & Asia Pacific and Europe. Love your videos, can't wait for the lockdown to end as we have nearly a million Qantas points to burn on flights!! AND we have not had a "revenue" flight in over 7 years!!
Congrats on 100K subscribers Dennis! I knew you could do it! Stay safe during these tough times and as always...
keep up the aviation spirit!
Thanks so much!
"Had someone tie my beans into a knot" - sounds kinky
Sounds painful.
Regrettably, I cannot recall the whole original version, but for the comment about the 'central seats being the best for couples'. As for the alleged copyright law infringement, I recall a famous literary reference to the ( copyright) " Law being an ass!". Cheers Dennis, it is wonderful to have you back in the air and the electronic channels. Look forward to your next 'original ' review, hopefully one that links Melbourne to the rest of the world.
Linking Melbourne to the rest of the world, dont hold your breath the way we are going with Dan the Man in charge of all our movements!! Its 8pm and not a creature is stirring not even a mouse👍😷
Thanks Otto. The issue was the music - turns out a particular artist stopped using the music library we got their music through. The new library has put in copyright claims against about 10 of my videos and the unfortunately the UA-cam system of disputing these is cumbersome and not very helpful. Therefore easier to change the music and re-upload the most popular of the videos. I still have a couple of original reviews up my sleeve so keep an eye out for those.
@@DennisBunnikTravels, you want to fight the strikes anyhow. If you don't, they're assumed true and if you get to many, they may suspend the account.
Edit: Congrats on 100k!
Thank you for your reply, Dennis. Will be looking for your 'reserve ' reviews to put some electronic excitement back whilst in total Melbourne lockdown. Current other stuff on TV leaves a lot to be desired; it simply does not 'take off ' like your reviews.
like if dennis is amazing, make sure youtube sends you your award!!!
Disappointed in Thai Airways as my last flight to Bangkok they cancelled the return flight could not get hold of them to change to another flight had to book a new flight asked for a refund they said that look at it in 180 days but they not required to give one very poor service would recommend you fly with Qantas great service
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video! I wish you will soon have many more flights like this one! 👌🏼
I know it's a bit silly but as a seattle area resident whenever i hear someone refer to the 747. as iconic or the queen of the skies ...i feel a lot of pride. cool to see something. so well known built right in my backyard.
airjordanseattle23 not silly at all. Be proud. In my city they did the Concorde engines and other bits. Immensely cool but not quite as ‘for the people’ as the 747 has been!
@@desiretheright wow..from the town of the mighty rolls royce olympus. I'd be proud too. what a sound that engine made! i remember staying at the sheraton skyline as a kid and hearing the roar as that GORGEOUS plane took off. Never got to fly one..but been aboard the one here in seattle at the boeing museum of flight. Did the olympus power the vulcan too?
@@airjordanseattle23 anybody who has ever heard the mighty roar of the Olympus engines and seen the graceful takeoff will never forget it.
You should be proud - it's a great heritage for your city to have. One massive regret is that I have never got around to visiting the Boeing factory - would love to have seen the 747 line in action.
@@DennisBunnikTravelsone of my best friends is a machinist there and have another friend who does tours of the plant. sadly the line just ended but the 787-8/9 and the 777 line are alive and well. next year hopefully the 777x line starts. it's a really fun tour to do. plus right on the property there is the boeing museum and boeing flying heritage museum(old ww2 and modern war birds as well as tanks. In downtown seattle is boeing field and the museum of flight. you can sit in an sr-71, tour an old 727,concorde, the prototype 787-8 and even the original prototype 747-100 from 1979. defo worth checking out if you ever find yourself in the vancouver or seattle area.
Great video Dennis! Love seeing the Thai 747! So happy to see it flying again soon! 😊
Thank you for re-posting this beautiful flight, Dennis! The days when we were able to relax pre-flight in a lounge, take to the skies and stars, revel in the iconic beauty of the now gone Queen of the Skies, enjoy the sincere hospitality and graciousness of beautiful flight crew...oh how we long for those days!
Oh yes I can't wait to be able travel long haul again. Let's hope this virus nightmare ends soon.
100k subs, congratulations mate😊👍🍾
Thank you so much 😀
Far too many decent UA-cam creators getting these malicious copyright claims.
Glad to see this. Sadly, I won't ever get to enjoy that for real, so thank you for taking me along.
Never say never! 🙏
Great hearing all four engines roar on take-off - a sound we will soon not hear again as numbers of 747s, A340's and A380s dwindle
Thanks Dennis. Great Video. Can't wait to get back flying again, until then your videos will be the perfect replacement
Thanks Claire - I agree, I can't wait to get back to long haul flying.
Congratulations on hitting that magic 100k subscriber count Dennis! Hope you and your family are doing ok and staying healthy.
Thanks! All good at this end, hope you're doing well
Always love flying with Thai.
The service at Bangkok always great from check in process to buggy ride to the lounge and free massage.
Until we travel again 🙏
I love the 747 there will be no plane better. Love your vids Dennis looking forward to seeing more like these.
Thanks Eddie, yes definitely a few more on the way.
The music in the beginning is so sweet and we know the video is gonna be ossam
Congrats on your 100k subs! I've been here since 20k... love your videos
Thanks heaps for your support.
Nice video content today Dennisbunkink travels and keep up the great content on your channel
Great music, great aircraft and great video as always Dennis. The 747! What an incredible aircraft. My father worked on the very first 747 delivered to South African Airways , on the day of delivery, back in the early 70s. I enjoyed many happy flights over the years on the 747! Thanks for such a great review
Many thanks!
EXCELLENT - I have flown the Sydney- Bangkok flight.. what amazed me about this 6 hr flight, is 4 hr over land in Aussie airspace from Darwin to Sydney.
Can’t wait to get some updated videos when things open up again! Love your content.
I am patiently waiting for the Australian border to open so I can get back to Thailand. I really want to try Thai Airlines B747! Maybe not First class..well after seeing the food onboard, i'm going to have to save my pennies and go for that first class ticket ;)
Congrats on 100K subs! Well done.
Thanks mate. Best bet is fly economy and spend the savings on more time and food in Thailand.
glad that your Thai Airways First Class was so good, sadly mine was very lack luster!!! I is ashame that they can not provide the same level of service on all there international flights. My experience was not bad, it was just a far cry from your experience My flight was LAX to Bangkok wish my flights were as nice as yours. GREAT JOB
I'm with you; I think the 747's are beautiful, even the shorter 747 SP's, and I'll be sad as they all age-out from service. What a successful airplane series. I can't believe we Americans allowed Boeing to be sacrificed to the MBA business model. But we did, and now they suck.
Thank you Dennis. Cheers from San Diego. It is so good to see your flight review videos again, even if it is from past flights. I love the idea of a classic flights series. Keep up the good work. My family and I are going to get some carne asada burritos and go plane spotting at Liberty Station right by SAN tomorrow afternoon. Mostly its just a handful of 737's and no wide bodies, but it's still fun
Thanks. Enjoy the spotting. San Diego is definitely on my list to visit again - only been once and that was back in 1985. All I remember is the Wildlife Park and eating lots of Mexican.
I can't wait to get back to flying. I still have a return ticket with Thai. Not quite first class though
Nice to get to see this again.
I flew Thai 4 times in 2019 and yea they're one of the best airlines there is so I hope they recover. I didn't get to fly the 747 which is a shame as I really want to fly on a 747 before it's too late but I did fly their A380 into Heathrow which was and still is the best flight I've ever been on. Anyway nice video Dennis I gave it a thumbs up and I'm thinking about your sponsor link as I have the software on my new laptop but haven't used it yet so we'll see maybe I will try it. Ok looking forward to your next video. Bye from the UK.
Pj's are also good for showing off..... Come on... I wear my Qantas top dog walking... Btw... All the best to you and your business during these times
Burnt some SQ Krisflyer miles on a regional leg on TG in business class, Manila from Bangkok. Thai have a great airport experience for premium passengers, the business class lounge is massive and the staff go out of their way to welcome you unlike the western carriers. The massage service is great, 30 minutes for Business and 1 hr for first class. The first class passengers can also use the spa. What i recall most of all was the food on board. Catering ex Bangkok for Thai was fantastic, even on the 3 hour regional flight i took. Memorable.
oh what i would do to go flying ! i remember my last flight was a ELAL 787-9 . i miss the old 747 .... please keep making vids , they are always cheerful and informative
nice video! I can't wait to fly agian. Miss the normal. Flying on a B747 is cool, eh?
So sad to see airlines waving goodbye to the 747s and the A380s. The sight of these majestic aircrafts will become rare day by day. We can only witness the end of a golden era and be glad we were around to see it.
Hi, Dennis, good that you got to fly on Thai, always liked the Thai inspired food on board .
I'm very happy I got to experience it. The food was incredible.
Even though I've only flown with one airline in my life (Belavia Airlines), I've wanted to fly with Thai since I was a little boy, it was the first livery I could recognise.
Smooth as Silk
Hi Dennis,
Many thanks for your impressive trip reports.
I like it :-).
Cheers,
Christian
Man, you just slipped into this plane. HS-TGY was stored in March 2018.
Thailand Is My Country Hope You Enjoy
Thai Airways Flight!💖
nice flight i enjoyed it greetings from the netherlands
Thank you very much!
Looked at the video portion of the menu a few times but couldn't find the champagne that was served.
What was it?
Thank you for posting. I really enjoy your content and hope the unboxing gives a nice sense of pride!
Nice
7:52 In Malaysia we call it 'Nasi Kerabu' 😁
BTW congrats for 100k subscribers...
YEEEAAAHH PYJAMAS!! 😂 Dennis you’re a crack-up
comgratulations on reaching 100,000 , fabulous milestone 😊❤
Love all your videos make me wanna fly business class to Australia next year hopefully
Love Thai Airways, and good to see you on their 747. Nice shirt by the way!
Been in seat 1A, Philippines Airlines Business class, Manila to SFO, great seat!
Congratulations on 100K subscribers!!!!!
Thank you!!
DennisBunnik Travels You responded!! Thanks!
i fly syd bkk 747 first as well best ground service i had
Great video, horrible music. Very distracting.
This is the first time I’ve heard someone refer to a time after smoking on planes was banned as the “golden era of air travel”
well, get used to it.
Nice one Dennis, but key question....can one rub one out in that seat?
Congrats on the 100K Dennis! I've been onboard since early on and have loved your content ever since. Can't wait until you're back in the sky on a regular basis!
P.S. would loveeee to see you a review of the Etihad Residence product one day; seems like the most luxurious product in the commercial market.
Thanks Ashley, really appreciate the support. Would love to fly the Residence one day but fear I may have missed it forever. Etihad has had a lot of financial issues and I fear their A380's may not fly again - I hope I'm wrong.
Awesome video congrats on 100K subs
Thanks!!
Great vlog Dennis !
The Thai 1st lounge in Bangkok is terrific !
Congrats on reaching 100.000 subscribers Dennis!
Avaiation is not the same now without the 747s. Slightly lost a bit of interest in aviation now 😒
I agree with you, Michael. No other vehicle compares to a 747. We'll just have to watch Dennis's reruns. 🤣
I agree - visits to Heathrow won't be the same now that the 747s are gone.
Definitely, the 747 was the open of the door of the fly. It last fly should be celebrate around the world 🥳🥂!
I also flew that route but the other way around I also flew the 747 but I was in business class
Great to see you Dennis. Miss your videos.
Thanks!
Thank you Dennis for the re-upload of this video! Let’s hope air travel returns to this golden age soon! Stay safe and thanks very much for this video!
Thanks mate.
Man I miss your videos. Hopefully see you in the skies one day soon
Congratulations on 100k subscribers
Dennis, Great video. You always look smart and dress appropriately for first class. Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers. Hope you are well and get back to flying soon.
Thanks George, really appreciate the support. Yes, can't wait until we're all flying again.
Yet another superb video! Congrats with 100k, well deserved! (Seen all your videos since approx 25-30k))
Thanks!
You look similar to a UA-camr who speaks Portuguese. I am sure the audience get confused. I like both of you’d UA-cam videos. By the way, both of you are good looking!
Thanks - yes I've heard we look alike. Would be cool if we bumped into each other at an airport.
Nice lighting in the
suite before bed.
Good to hear your voice again and indulge a world of aviation which we have no hope of seeing again for the foreseeable future. Just out of curiosity, what was the copyright problem with the original video? Also, have you changed this version for compliance?
Thanks Peter. Also gives my opportunity to highlight some of my earlier videos to my more recent subscribers.
Best seat on Thai is either 2A or 2K on the A380!
TG first or business is often open for star alliance mileage ticket... used to use many times for free. BKK lounge with massage service was excellent.
thank you for flying THAI
I have missed your videos. We would like to know where you get your amazing shirts! :) Have a great flight!
Thanks! That shirt was from Ted Baker, picked it up a few years ago. cheers D
What an amazing experience, thanks for sharing! Also, congrats on 100k subscribers 🎉
Thank you so much!!
I wonder if the flying experience that Dennis recorded in this video is gone forever in the new post-covid world, or if what we're experiencing now is just a temporary interruption.
I fear that the Thai 747 experience as it was will be gone forever. I do think though that most of the other experiences will come back - eventually!
Thanks Dennis for another honest and genuine review! Really helps and informs the rest of us on what product to fly.
Just waiting for my vaccination before i can act on your advice!
So excited for these classic flights!! Great video and congrats on 100K!
Thanks!
I have take this flight few times
Excellent presentation!
Wowza! 100k subs well done Den. You could fill the G. Best of luck
Thanks - it still freaks me out how many people that is. This hobby has got well out of hand!
I must cart myself over to Thailand one day. Bangkok looks nuts and the north looks special. The beaches in the south don't interest me too much, there's already those at home.
Yes definitely put it on your list - especially the north which is beautiful and a world away from the chaos of BKK
@@DennisBunnikTravels I'll get there one day
You are hilarious. Love the pyjamas commentary.
Thanks mate
