My copy is coming in the mail tomorrow, and I'm beyond stoked. I've been a fan of double dragon since the arcade days, and I'm so glad to see the franchise getting some much needed love. As always your game play is on point my dude. Great video 🎉🎉🎉
It's definitely fun but I wouldn't rate it that highly although there's always the potential for me to change my mind after I've played it more. I'd rate Streets of Rage 4 and Fight'N Rage much higher due to the depth of the combat and I like that they take a lot of fighting game mechanics.
@@fiendishshape Yes, I would 100xs rather play this than SOR4, The learning curve for SOR4 is high for rewards that are underwhelming. SOR4 has less variety besides increasing enemies on screen.. the game gets boring fast even with survival... The music is great, but I don't find myself enjoying that game for more than 5 mins... DDG is fresh, every stage changes based on your route, bosses change, stage rewards and challenges change, and the upgrades are random, also the gameplay is simple and rewarding considering that randomness... The music is just as good if not better than SOR4. This game has blown me away, no need to play any others from the genre revival so far, TMNT is fun but too long, SOR4 is fun IF you can learn the ridiculous combos, but there is nothing much else to do with that game... DDG got it right, and you can play it over and over and over....
I am enjoying the game so far, but I do not know if I would say the best. At least not over all. The character models are a disappointment to me bro. After playing the large characters in SOR4 and Mayhem brawler this is almost shameful. I will say I was surprised that I am enjoying the crowd control feature the most out of the game. I expect other games to copy this feature and the remaining stages being altered based on what order you play them in.
Amazing run @iconoclast! I got Ending B a few nights ago with Jimmy and Matin. I did a 1CC run with Billy and Jimmy earlier tonight! I stopped at Ending A, after beating final form version of Anubis. Not worth the stress tonight.
I like SOR4, Shredder's Revenge, Final Vendetta, Jitsu Squad, Ninja Saviors, and Fight'n Rage more off the top of my head. I probably had more fun with both River City Girls games as well, but those don't have an arcade style structure so it's hard to compare. This game is still fun though, the others are just great. It's a good time to be a fan of the genre.
It really is weird that the developers didn't think that those crowd control notifications would completely destroy the flow of what looks like an otherwise solid game. Have they never played a beat 'em up before? These kinds of interruptions would have made games like Streets of Rage 4, Shredder's Revenge, and River City Girls 2 unplayable, and I love those games.
I watched these playthrus before I bought the game and I was thinking they'd completely kill the pacing and somehow for me at least they didn't which is crazy I feel. like I didn't ever get annoyed or feel like they got intrusive or took me out of the action. BUT... I KNOW they have to for some people. so I'm glad they have the option to turn them off. also I JUST got the game like a few days ago so maybe I haven't gotten tired of it yet lol.
I don't like them being chibi but whatever. Looks very fun, though I would like to know if those hamburger and hotdog animations can be turned off, I feel those take me out from the gameplay experience.
That music brings back memories of me being a kid in the 80s Playing Double Dragon on the NES. This is one of the 1st videos i have been recommended of you by UA-cam in quite a while.
I haven't played this game, but those crowd control notifications constantly pausing the game are very irritating, even as a spectator. It shouldn't pause the game considering that you're going to be doing these crowd control things like extremely often.
Yeah, it would be good if you could reduce it to a pop up on the side of the screen or something and not pause the action, but there's no option for that. It actually doesn't bother me when playing, but when I watched some videos before it came out I thought it would be annoying. That's a big YMMV though, I totally get anyone thinking it sucks.
What in the world. Isn’t the game just a few hours old and you already cleared it?😅 Good stuff! I love to browse through you library of videos to get inspiration for arcade games. Keep it up!
Streets of Red (previous game by the developer) isn't long either, but has crazy replay value. Honestly most arcade Beat'Em Up Brawlers were only 30-50 minutes long.
Thanks guys. I understand that Arcade games are on the shorter side (which I really like), but I feel that they require „more“ or a different kind of practice, because they are not easy. In my opinion it is an accomplishment to be able to understand, execute and finish a new (hard) game in such a short amount of time.
The town doesn't look TOO bad considering the world has been through AT LEAST 2 nuclear wars per the in-game canon.... you'd think any vehicles or anything requiring power wouldn't be working so well though.
Hey I was nine years old in 1987, And I spent many quarters playing this game in the Arcades. The last Real good double dragon game that ever came out was GAME BOY ADVANCE. But this new crap Along with sony three and all that is garbage In so many aspects There's no need for me to ever mention it! I love double dragon but not this TRASH!!!🗑🚮
Marion looks like the girl in Gundam Stardust Memory. I think Double Dragon should introduce post-apocalytpic mechas. LOL Maybe a DLC where you encounter the mad scientist character from double dragon 2 and free a spy from prison and he joins the fight by taking a powered suit in the lab and using it to fight in. Yes make him overpowered and is the final reward for beating everything.
Personally, I think the bosses need to be reworked a bit. They don’t seem to flinch much when getting hit. And they seem to move a lot faster than players in terms of attack movements. Other than that, game good.
Yeah those parts are a little annoying, but the platforming and falling rocks in Lady Okada's stage are the worst things in the game imo. I'd rather skip those than anything else.
When you end the false final boss okada and anubis are most difficult than willy and duke and of course when cursor are at max good luck enjoy everyone this game is great(my opinion )
It just depends on which order you play the stages in. The last two stages you pick will have 3 sections to them, and the last stage you choose will have the boss in his final form.
@@iconoclast575 Hope they do some DLC. 4 more stages and more characters would be nice. Also maybe the ability to have another move set like they did with SOR4. A survival mode like sor4 would be cool as well.
Ofcourse the Law route is the bad ending, Shin Megami Tensei series pretty much did the same thing. I like certain Law routes, this was actually created peace for the city.
Outside of SMT2 when was Law ever depicted as Bad? They're just a choice like Chaos but it's usually encouraged to kill them all and go True Neutral because it's the only choice that takes humanity out of the reincarnation cycle. It's just weird to me, because SMT is heavily steeped in Gnostic influence which DD has none of at all. I thought it was more of a reference to SOR1's bad ending.
I really did not like Streets of Red: Devil's Dare Deluxe. It was way too simple and easy. Did you play it? And if yes, is Double Dragon Gaiden a big improvement?
It is challenging and you can adjust the difficulty to make it harder of you wish as well as well as choose to not purchase upgrades for your characters.
Nope, I never tried Streets of Red. This game isn't hard on default settings, but I'd imagine it can get a lot harder with the customization it allows.
I actually didn't even know there was another level. I figured choosing "no" would just restart the game so you can continue powering up your characters, lol. But yes, I'll probably just do that from now on with the other characters.
So they included the songs from all the double dragons game including Double Dragon 4? Now this makes me want to play this game because of this!

This imo is the best beat ‘em up from the genre revival so far. Rewarding. Simple. Depth. Challenging. Perfect.
Music is also amazing.
Pretty high praise. Do you like it more than Streets of Rage 4?

This game received an update that lets players turn off crowd control screens, turn off dead enemy bodies, lets you double tap to run, among others.
Awesome run. Yours is the best gameplay I’ve seen so far.

amongst the recent beat em ups?

Why dead enemy not disappear
There is a new update where you can choose to make them disappear
Move set un peut weak ça manque de variété. Mais à part ça il reste sympa. Un bel hommage
This game looks pretty solid, but the combat looks painfully slow. Hopefully the dev adds a turbo mode or something ha.
Not bad
