- A fun class of turbocharged "Modified Stock" tractors at a big pull in Cowtown, New Jersey in 1984 is described in detail by the youngest participant, the Dirt Farmer.
Boy I miss the old days of tricycles and real farm tractor pulls. Now a days you have to be a millionaire to pull tractors. Thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks for buying dad's tractor! I think you were the right person to get it. He's looking down on you smiling.
Hi Donna, it's so good to hear from you! Yes, I think it was almost divine providence that your dad sold that tractor to me. I didn't get to spend as much time with him as I would have liked, but I felt kind of a kindred spirit with him. I learned a lot from him and Leonard, and set out to do tractor pulling their way, being resourceful, making things work and not spending much money. I've done my best to keep the Deere Power philosophy alive, and I'm enjoying keeping Deere Power #1 and your dads memory alive too. 😀
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 I watched you pull Spirit of Deere Power @ the AA county fair this past Saturday. I thought you had 2 good runs that I saw, and it reminded me so much of watching dad pull way back in the day. I look forward to seeing you with Deere Power I @ Gladhill's next month. The whole family will probably be there to watch. ❣
That was A great story. I love listening to those old stories 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the old tractor pulling days stories!!! I and my best friend were about 14 yrs old when his Dad started pulling farm pulls. In the late 70’s, the pulls in SW Wisconsin were on blacktop with a 5 mph lawn mower pace tractor leading you down the track. His Dad had Massey’s, and that was the funnest times of my childhood, was them farm pulls. Neighbor vs. neighbor, friend vs. friend, enemy vs. enemy🤣 and like your story, he pulled the 9500lb class against about 10 JD’s, and I remember the top of their refrigerator at home being covered with pulling trophies. Thanks for your story….cause it resparked the feeling I had when the ol’ 1100 MF would inch up a foot further than all the JD’s in the class❤️🩶🤠
Always love to watch tractor pulling at the local Co Fair. Tried talking my dad into entering our stock 4440 because it was our big tillage tractor at the time. He just laughed.
Thanks for this story! I really enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing! And YES that 4440 shoulda been entered!!!💚😘
I’m 23 years old, been pulling 9500lb 2 cylinders since age 13, we pull with gladhills and live in chambersburg. I thank you sir for all your videos. You give me information that is a dying breed. I would love to having the honor of meeting you some day somewhere hopefully at pull! The parts about having a tractor and no trailer really hit home hahah
My dad pulled back in the late 70's early 80's. He has been gone 12 years because of cancer, i still have his tractor today.
I really enjoyed the video in the story you told
Participating in competition is great, but winning is icing on the top of the cake
Well said!
These long videos are the best! Im 20, about to be 21, and I tell you what not all of these kids running around have the short attention spans youre used to seeing these days. I love watching old timers and listening to your stories, I wish there were more of yall out there sharing on youtube!
Thanks Colby! Didn't know l had graduated to old timer status yet, LOL. I still think l'm your age! I'm glad you're enjoying the stories, thanks for taking time to write a comment.

What a delightful story.
Thanks!
J.F.🇨🇦
Glad you enjoyed it!
Incredible story man. Love it.
Great story Bill. Every tractor puller will have at least one story about a great run against all odds. Your story made me think of many from my 50+ years of pulling. Also in all the years I've be around pulling, I've learned not to consider looks into a tractor capabilities, often a showroom shiny tractor isn't a very good puller. Early on Dave Stangle with the "Solid Junk" G1000 MM became one of my heros that I always wanted to emulate. I have been fortunate over the years to have been acquainted with pullers from all around the country and I'm happy to know you personally 😃
Thanks for the kind words Paul, Glad to know you too.
Good to hear the pulling stories
Awesome story. Love to hear about the old days when they were built not bought!
It is great remembering those great times
As a city boy from Boston you have me hooked on tractors and Jesus
Hey Rich, Glad to hear it! What got you started watching? I'm really curious!
Haven't seen a video yet that isn't worth watching twice. Good stories like this are always better in full form. Looking forward to the next one.
I love your story. May God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much!

What a story could listen to you tell stories all night you are a gifted storyteller that young and old can listen to, you know at pulls I will root for the average or worst looking tractors to win guess the underdog thing.......hey more stories like this my friend from the day.
Hey Steve! Thanks for the kind words, more stories to come!

This is Timmy Pearl‘s wife, leaving a comment that he really enjoys all of your videos and loves listening to all the old pulling stories. It’s amazing how just some smart, ingenuity, overcomes, big and fancy expensive tractors.
Hey Brother Floyd! HaHa, thanks for the comment Timmy! l'm glad you've got a great sense of humor, I thought you might get a kick out of me sayin' that in the video. l still haven't heard from the other 2 guys Sean and Brad yet, you got 'em beat.
Love the story and all your videos! You make them as long as you want and I'll watch them to the end 👍👍. Keep them coming and always look forward to tractor church Sunday morning 🙏🙏. God bless you and your family and God bless our country 🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸

Ur are a cool guy love ur stories god bless u guys.
Such a fun video and great story!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You,sir, have more mechanical ability than any trained mechanic I've ever ran across.
Just trying to use the talents God gave me, and l'm thankful he was generous!
He also makes it look so easy that anyone could do it.
Great story! I enjoy seeing your pulling tractors! Neat to see the ones out in the weeds too!
You pick beans like my husband ha. Ha good video.
Your husband does more talkin' than pickin'? LOL
Awesome video Bill! Determination and ingenuity goes a long ways;)
Thanks 👍
Nice video

Great to hear the old pulling stories i pulled from the age of 23 up to 34 give it up when my daughter was a year old was a big block guy
I'm sure you had some great experiences!
Thank you brother! that was a good story I love tractor. Pulling yes the good Lord was smiling down on you back then love you channel and God bless
Story Time with Uncle Bill🤠
Gotta admit, I was glued to the screen for the whole show!
I recall a local legend in the Modified class, E.J. Potter with UGLY & DOUBLE UGLY, Allison Aircraft powered contraptions that the announcers would just ridicule to egg on the crowd.
Great memories, thanks for sharing!
Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Wow Tedd, my opinion of you just went up yet anther notch, you in the Michigan Madman's neck of the woods?
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 Hey thanks Bill, it’s great to know that my respect level rises in relation to my geographic location! Hah!🤦🏻♂️ He hailed from Ithaca, Mi., about a hundred miles to the NorthEast of us.
I never met him, but was always amazed at his Wild machines. Even though I enjoyed those classes, I’m really more of a Super Farm - Super Stock fan though.
I guess I’m just more partial to
machines that are built from “Real Tractors”😉
Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Imagine if you will going out to the local dragstrip for a nice Sunday afternoon racing and having E. J. Potter showing up with his sideways mounted v8 motorcycle. Kinda makes the old 114 inch shovelhead seems inadequate. Was a great time to be alive.@@sawsurgeon
@@orsonwells7997 Indeed! The Boss Hoss v-8’s got nothing on Ol EJ Potter.
He was the genuine original Michigan MadMan😎💪🏼🇺🇸
Of course “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”!
Love the old iron and the
storys. THANKS BILL
Im thankful i found your channel , your stories are great. You and your old tractor pulling adventures are awesome. You sound like Farmtruck from Oklahoma city with his old beat up 72 chevy long bed truck. He drag races and beats Lamborghinis , Ferraris all the time. Chrome and shiney paint dont make hp!!!!!
Sounds like my kinda guy!
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 He is a good guy, he's on TV streetoutlaws. He has a bigblock chevy with alot of nitrous he tears up those 200k buck supercars. He's a funny guy , he even beat a Ferrari in a drag race and he was towing a boat lol!!!!
Nice Giant handbasket. Great for pickin' beans. Good story too. Thanks.
Loved the video! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I remember those runs. It seems like everything just felt right. Magic just happens.
Hey Jeff! It's a great feeling isn't it.
It’s been almost 40 years since I pulled but I can still remember the full pulls. I still have my tractor and I start it occasionally
What were you running?
Great video. Was interested to hear you reminiscing about the old days. Those old pulling tractors are something else. Very neat.
Love it.
Interesting video thanks
These old stories are really cool. Keep up with the great work
What an awesome story! I was hanging around tractor pulling in Illinois when you stood along the track and stepped on the sled before the mechanical sleds were around. Probably 1969 ish. Good times.
Thanks, great to hear from a fan of pulling from the truly early years.
Absolutely good story, I love tractor pulling.
Great stories!! I'm 33 and enjoy hearing about the old days of pulling. I saw your tractor down at Classic Green in June. What a great show it was! My wife and I love our two cylinders. Liked and Subscribed.

It was great that your dad supported you on your quest to build a pulling tractor.
Never judge a book by its cover!
Great history of your early pulling history.
I love your story and the best part you give the glory to the Lord.
Great Video!
Bill honestly guys like you are the reason I'm starting my 30th year of tractor pulling. I have a very good friend who is going to have his 50th year tractor pulling this year as well. August 25th at Washington County fair new York for both of us
Good to hear from you Jason, keep on pullin'!
@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 my grandfather used to say " God hates a quitter " I'm never quitting anything I do
Awesome story buddy
Hey thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Got some other stories up, more to come.
Great story and video
Hey Joel! Great to hear from you, thanks for the high praise.
I remember when Dave Miller used to take his 4010 off the silo blower, shine her up, and take firsts in multiple classes. He always figured she was around 200 horse. Fun times!!
Those were the best times in pulling!
Awesome video
😁👍👍
Always had more respect for the men who build the winners over the men who simply buy the wins sadly builders are far and few between .any one can write a check. Keep em coming bill .god bless .
Great point!
Love old time pulling storys I'm the 1/2 video watcher
I knew you were hidin' somewhere.
I enjoy your videos! Beans, wheat, corn, tobacco, manure hauling, chopping morning glories with a wore out hoe, the breakdowns, the repair, hay hauling, old barns, John Deeres of all ages, and tractor church. I love it all brother! Keep being you and keep bringing the videos. See you upstairs...
Hey Jeff! I thought l already responded to your kind comment, maybe l forgot to hit reply when l was done typing. l'll do my best to keep making good videos. Upstairs looks better every day!
Always enjoy your stories!
Thank you Shawn!😁👍👍
Love the slow motion tractor pulls and doodle bug pulls at Zegray farm in Connecticut.
Very cool
Awesome memories and videos
Great video, again! I would say that you got the " HORSE" before the cart. And don't apologize for being young and cocky, because many of us were the same way in our youth. It's not bragging when you can back it up!😅👍🚜
Thanks for that!
I got to got to go to work now but I'm coming back.🤠
Really enjoy seeing your videos! I still farm with old junk too and I love it
Thanks Nick! Great to hear from you.
Enjoy all your stories
Love your pulling stories. Take me back to when we had pulls here in south Texas.
Love the stories and picking the beans lol
Great story glad the lord lead me to your videos. May God bless you always and your family Amen 🙏. I always say .ay God bless you because I heard Red Skelton say once he said it that way because he never thought he should be telling God what to do. I agree with his thinking
Good thought Frank!
I grew up hearing stories about Cowtown and Laurel Delaware, it was good to hear names like Earl Harmel that I haven’t heard since my grandfather passed away, when you’ve got a couple extra hours I’ve got a photo album you need to look through,if everything goes right Kay’s delight will be at the fair next year with Deere power
Hey Will! I'd love to look through the album anytime. Can't wait to see Kays delight goin' up the track again, please stop by soon so we can talk about it.
Great story telling... keep them coming
Thank you! Will do!
Yes a very good video loved the story keep them coming
Keep it up Billy we love the videos
Bill, I recently started to watch your videos. I grew up on a dairy farm in the 60s. I recently bought back the 4010 that was our big horse on the farm back then and am restoring it. I would like to suggest a video that helps educate people on the process of food production. Too many have no concept of God's provision out of the earth and what it takes to accomplish that. God bless.
Hey, Congrats on buying back the 4010! I'll see if l can do a little something on growing your own food, thanks.
I like your videos,,very entertaining. Thank you Sir.
Thank you Joel, for watching and taking the time to leave a nice comment.🤠
Nice hearing about the past
Pretty nice story.
Glad you enjoyed it
