Rick Derringer on bass and Dan Hartman on guitar. If you watch the video of them doing Frankenstein you will see it in reverse. Thats how versatile these guys were.
on the studio version, ronnie montrose played lead guitar, and dan hartman and rick derringer both played rhythm guitar, while randy jo hobbs played bass.

Good observation not only that Edgar's supposed to be singing it and he's not and the lead guitar player I forget his name he's playing he's supposed playing rhythm the only one who's playing the right instrument is the drummer I think they just did it for fun
Dan Hartman on vocals and guitar, extremely talented musician, writer and producer. Wrote this song and died way too young. He had a solo dance hit in the late 70s, wrote Living in America for James Brown, and wrote I Can Dream About You for Hall & Oates but they had just finished their album so Hartman recorded it for the Streets of Fire soundtrack, it's one of the best songs from the 80s.
Ya, Hartman was good. I didn't really dig that cheesy song he did in about 77....another channel reacted to the video ..Disco ,not at its best

Edgar was a busy man. He had solo work, Edgar Winter's White Trash, The Edgar Winter Group, he and Rick Derringer did some tours together, and let's not forget the Winter brother's work, he and Johnny. I saw them both in concert individually, but had always wished I saw them together. Lots of talent there.

This is the stuff that was filling my ten-year-old mind on newly discovered FM radio. That transistor radio was the best thing I ever got.
Live versions are rarely better than studio versions, especially when the studio version is the one that got airplay. This one isn't bad.
You got to check out the long version, this was played on am stations while the FM stations played the long version.

It was rare but once in a great while there would be a lip sync on MS. I just saw one with ABBA. Of course their sound was difficult to replicate live.

I remember riding in the back of our family's station wagon when I first heard this song, and the rhythm guitar riff gave me goosebumps. It has been a favorite of mine ever since. It also has such a positive message. Edgar Winter always rocks the house.

Great video. (Frankenstein is an instrumental) ... the guy on bass is Rick Derringer who wrote and performed and sang as well. He wrote some of Johnny and Edgar Winters biggest hits. Seldom if ever see him not on lead guitar and EW usually lead sings. This was one of the best albums I bought that year!
This song was most of my party tapes for college fraternity parties in the early 80’s. Always got people up and moving!

The Midnight Special was a great show. Everyone had to play live, and every band wanted to be on The Midnight Special. If you couldn’t really play you were exposed. It separated the musicians from the pretenders. These guys are musicians.

Dan Hartman went Disco after he left EWG by 1977 . The big hit was Instant Replay and then in the 80s I Can Dream about You and James Brown had a huge hit with Living In America that Dan composed also ..

Hi gentlemen ,you need to check out a album by Edgar Winter and white trash called roadwork ....saw the perform live in 1970 a smokin album from start to finish really highlights Edgar but also features a vocalist and sax player Jerry LaCroix ....a killer recording for live concerts back then .....and live they sounded perfect .....nothing but smoke👍👍👍👍👍👍👍☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️btw love your works great job

Wow classic rare treat hear. I've heard this all my life but never watched it. Now the players are all doing different stuff. Got this young dark haired dude that looks out of place like he's from the eighties, playing lead, the normally base player, playing a fender Strat doing rhythm and lead vocals, Rick Derringer playing base. Man the tallent is just oozing from these guys and they're switching it up here.

I seconded someone's suggestion to listen to Edgar's "Give It Everything You Got" off his White Trash album. But also try Dying to Live from the same album. It was sampled in Tupac's posthumous "Runnin'."

The singer here was the bass player and the bass player was on lead guitar on Frankenstein ..and there were no vocals on Frankenstein...

The album that this song came from, "They Only Come Out At Night", was my first album purchase back in 1973. I was 10 years old. I bought it for the song "Frankenstein" and ,bonus, this song was on it too. Still have it. I listened to it about eleventeen bajillion times.

Hey guys Ned from Spain back again. This a stellar super tight performance of some classic Edgar Winters White Trash. Lead singer Dan Hartman normally played bass but is on guitar this time wrote this and many other hits including James Browns' Livin' In America. The lead guitarist is Floyd Radford who's band Tin House is a must for you to check out. It was an obscure record for many years but more and more people are picking up on how good it is.
Whoops my bad ! The lead git is Jerry Weems ! Floyd had played with both Edgar and Johnny and I thought it was him, sorry y'all, but you should still check out Tin House.
Wasn't Frankenstein an instrumental? Edgar Winter was just ridiculously prominent in Frankenstein because he played so many different instruments.
C'mon Edgar, MORE Cowbell!!! Seen Edgar a couple of times, including once with his late brother Johnny. Every time was great, Edgar is a musicians, musician, talented and energetic.

I watched every Midnight Special in real time. It was so great to see all of our bands perform live, something most teenagers couldn’t do. That said, the song/sound quality is always pretty bad. Personally, I like the recorded first, then the performance. You lose the production value performed live in the 70’s. Yeah, no soundtrack back then. Enjoy you guys!
Try some Tina S guys, especially the cover for Steve Vai's Oh For The Love Of God. She's about 22 now and just come out of a 6 year exile. You will not hear a better guitarist anywhere!!
