If the concept “I and The Father are One” is the essence of Vedanta, and I believe that it is, then Jesus was a Vedantist, and was, in fact, crucified for teaching Vedanta. The Pharisees called this teaching “blasphemy”.
You could postulate that. But in a biblical and Jewish sense, Jesus was crucified mainly because he claimed to be God, which I believe is the truth that Christ is our Lord and God, creator and sustainer of all things. In ancient Israelite thought, only 2 ages exist: The first beginning with Adam and ending with Jesus, and the second beginning with Jesus but never ending. We are currently in the latter age, the new covenant age. Hinduism and Vedanta fail to recognize the transition from the old age to the new one. Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24 that all things would be fulfilled before His own generation would pass away. In scripture, a generation is roughly 40 years. With this in mind, the eschaton (or consummation of the ages) occurred in AD 70 when Israel and its temple were destroyed, being replaced by the New Israel and New Temple, which is all of humanity instead of merely Israel.
Meister Eckhart a Dominican monk taught that God and mankind have identical ground of being. If God is the infinite ocean and mankind is a tide then the ground of being is water. In Christianity Christians had been crucified in baptism and born above transcendentally into Christ. Our lives ceased and it's Christ who lives in us. Holy Spirit dwell in us. This indwelling of divinity that deified us is called theosis. Theosis is the Gospel. Salvation is deification. At Assisi Prayer we saw how all major religions prayed together 🙏
Hi Swami Chidbrahmananda, Thank you for these talks. My experience of being "born again in Christ" ended up being a shocking revelation of a nondual Reality. I live in Simi Valley. Are there any ongoing study groups looking at the New Testament through a Vedantic darshan? Thanks, Ken Shaw
I enjoyed this, but It seems like “You” and “God” are two separate realities being talked about. I guess this is for people who still insist they are an individual. I would have like mor e amplification on Scriptures which hint at non duality.
I heard this lecture but doesn't make any sense to me. As a student of Vedanta first one should know Vedanta consists of Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and the Brahma sutras. The simple essence being atma is our true nature and atma is parmatma in the nondualistic school of Vedanta. We don't need religion to understand such basic true nature of self. The moment the conversion of religions happens we lose the soul of spirituality. Yes god is one and reaching it may have many paths but I don't agree we can ever combine Vedanta with any religion and if you doing to make the Christian followers to understand god your doing it wrong as god is above religions
Gbu bro and sis Today let's study about...FALSE INSISTENCE.... THE EARLY CHURCH WORSHIPED AND GAVE OFFERINGS IN SUNDAY..... Those who worship on Sunday, not on the Sabbath day, insists that the early Church worshiped and gave offerings on Sunday,by quoting 1Cor16:2.... On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a sun of money in keeping with his income, saving it up , so that when I come no collections will have to be made.... 1) If the collection in 1 Cor 16:2 were the regular offerings at the weekly worship service ,why did Paul say that no collections should be made when he came?? Apostal Paul said ..." When I come ,no collections will have to be made''.. if the collections were the regular offerings, they had to be made whether or not Apostal Paul came .How did date to tell them not to offer the regular offerings any more? The collections here are nit regular offerings... 2) Didn't they have to work to set aside a dum of money in keeping with thier income??.. meaning of verse in fact ,the collections in this verse were not the weekly offerings, but the special collections for the church in jeruselem... 1Cir 16:3....send them with your gift to jeruselem... To be more exact ,the members did not offer the collections on the first day of every week ,but saved them to offer later... Therefore thier insistence that the early Church worshiped on Sunday, quoting 2Cor 16:2,is wrong .. Paul wrote letter that when he recommended the church in Macedonia to prepare collections,he boasted to them about the church in Corinth which prepared collections, for one year to help the church in jeruselem.2Cor 9:1_5 I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give, and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action .... For if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we__ not to say anything about you ___ would be ashamed of having been so confident.... 🙏... Amen
How come a child born with deformities is good for the child, as per your logic that everything that happens in your life is for your own good? The discriminations he would face, the denial of a normal life ..... how is that good for that child?
I worked with adults with disabilities for three years. I'm not a bleeding heart either, and I used to think in the way that you are getting at. But the people I worked with, in general, were very happy, joyous even. They had lots of friends and activities and were often oblivious to much of the hardship or suffering that would have crushed myself. I often noticed that it was myself and my coworkers that were anxious, depressed or otherwise upset...and not the members that we helped. I hear what you're saying but I'm not so sure that a "normal" life equals a Good or blessed life. Actually, one of the more disabled and childlike member that I worked with...she's the one that "put Love in my heart" or perhaps allowed me to realize the Love that was there. Before I met her, I was very much an atheist and when people talked about a "transcendent love" I thought they were lying, but that's because I had yet to experience it. There has never been anyone more important in my life than that woman. I am here, still trying to understand more, because of her. It's almost like she was a spiritual messenger of some sort? I really don't know.. Like I said I'm still trying to figure it all out. Sorry to digress, but thanks for letting me say that.
The sentence "I and The Father are One" is just ONE SENTENCE in the bible, hinting at the sameness of the self and the Self; it is not the theme of the thousands of other sentences in the fragmented/disjointed books of the bible. So is the ONE SENTENCE "what you sow, you will reap" hinting at the law of Karma. There cannot be a thing such as Vedic christianity. Vedas presents the written collection of real rishis who speaks about attaining enlightenment and the techniques they used. christianity is fake for what we know about it is through the bible, which was written about several decades after christ, by the greeks and romans, and thus most likely fabricated. As a Vedantic spiritual seeker, I am tolerant of white christians, grounded in fake spiritual knowledge, who adopted the wisdom of the Vedas. I am not tolerant of white christians, full with fake christian knowledge, who are attempting to juxtapose christianity(fake spiritual information) with real spiritual wisdom. It seems like the Vedanta societies outside of India are tolerating anything to boost their congregation and thus their purses - money corrupts even Vedanta societies of the western world.
You are absolutely right sir. This is seems dangerous experiment. Christian Missionary here in India disguise themselves as Hindu Baba and wear saffron robes to fool Innocent Hindus in conversion and very cleverly they omit the signs of Hinduism from converted person's home and life. I don't know why Ramakrishna Mission Ashram is allowing such kind of things. Will Christian Pastor do the same thing in Churches, then why the branch of RKM ashram doing these things?? Appropriating the so called teaching of bible and whatever written in there with Vedas is like renaming yoga as Christian Yoga which is a dominant trend these in western countries.
Start with Jesus Christ and his words and work backwards. Similarly, one can start with the upanishads and vedanta and move backwards through The Vedas.

Dear Swami Chidbrahmananda, Is there such a thing as a Vijnana Vedanta commentary on the New Testament? Thank you, Ken Shaw
