    Oh my goodness! Somehow your amazing videos showed up on my screen and I am indeed gobsmacked.
    I’ve always been fascinated by tumbling blocks and have found several sites I can easily follow. Right now sewing isn’t possible but soon I will have the studio of my dreams in our new house.
    My spatial skills are well-“interesting”. I can immediately know when something is off but then make the necessary adjustments. Your explanations were very helpful but when you didn’t explicitly cut the strips I panicked.
    I could follow everything else but the idea of finding something in the description below absolutely buffaloed me. I don’t know if I’m alone in that.
    When you were showing the pink block I could tell something was off but couldn’t understand what the problem was. For people like me it would be lovely if when you noticed the mistake you stopped immediately and showed how to fix it.
    When you began by demonstrating how the various colors defined the blocks I almost cried. I’ve never ever been able to understand how the blocks led to the magic.
    Right now I’m going to just use 3 fabrics: L, M, and D for the traditional block. And then I hope I can graduate to the gift you’ve shared here.

      Melinda thanks for all the great comments! If I understand you correctly, when I said "in the description below" that means the information posted on UA-cam just below each video. I think you are smart to start with one block and see how easy it really is. I usually make test blocks before I make any quilt. Thanks for watching!

      I loved seeing your reply, Carol. I just finished watching this again and then reread my comment about stopping right away and fixing mistakes.
      This time I tuned in to you saying you didn’t see the mistake until you were finished and had to take things apart. Now that I-quilters-completely understand!
      I could watch your videos all day.

    Fabulous tutorial. Thank you for taking your viewers through this technique at a calm pace as it made it easier to grasp each step.
    One thing I did notice was when you put your larger quilt together, many of the pink blocks were pieced incorrectly as they were in your example. I thought perhaps you had digitally duplicated the blocks to make it look as if a whole quilt was arranged until I saw the strip pieces together on your design board. When I saw that all the quilting had been done with those pink blocks unchanged, I was a little shocked and wanted to know if you had noticed the blocks had been pieced in the incorrect order?
    Please do not think I’m being critical of your quilt as I think it’s amazing. I have completed a two quilts where I didn’t notice I had made an error in a block until after the binding was on. After a bit of heated self discussion, I’ve just accepted that errors are made and are part of the charm of each of those two quilts. 😀👋🇦🇺

    • @CarolThelen
      @CarolThelen  2 роки тому

      I agree that errors are part of the charm!! In that case, I have a lot of charming quilts! If I see a mistake and am able to change it easily, then I change it. Otherwise It is what it is. I make quilts for pleasure and for giving. Nearly every one of my quilts is given away Most of the recipients are members of my very large family and they wouldn't know a misplaced patch if they saw it.
      I think in my Hidden Cubes quilt there were several other blocks in error that I found only after quilting. I think they were blue and/or brown but I'm not sure. I get it that some quilters want everything to be perfect and that's OK because we all have different paths to happiness. I am so appreciative that people take time to send me comments. It is a true pleasure to learn what people are thinking after viewing my tutorials. It is a learning experience to me. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
