Same, This episode ended me. Like Reese I was still grieving the loss of Carter.
I love how important Carter was to Reese. Before Finch, Carter was there for the Reese, a struggle Vet who got in a subway fight.

The episode is great - POI is a show that knows how to do sci-fi action-thriller to a T, but I would have never guessed that they would be able to do a high-concept episode like this, and done it so well. Getting Henson back to play Carter again would've made sense as a traditional flashback, as the framing device the show uses well throughout, but she does such a great role in this imagined Carter through Reese's subconscious. Thanks for your reaction

The reaction I have been waiting since the start of Season 4. One of my top favorite episodes of POI.
I loved having Carter back even for an episode. It was like she never left.
9:14-9:21 Like that, she's gone. Again.

I somewhat disagree about your statement that it felt like carter never left. The care that reese and carter have for each other is very genuine and sincere, that's the bit that never skips a beat. But we all, like reese, even though we moved on, feel her absence that's why this episode hits so hard. Carter was great and this made me miss her, but it helped me let her go too. Because having her die in an alley so abruptly was pretty unfair.

@@catewright1575 I said "It was like she never left" but obviously she did since a large of the episode deals with the impact of that loss. And I agree that this was a better sendoff for Carter than The Crossing.

this episode was bleak and hopeful and bleak at the same time, great storytelling, well timed formula departure, and backstory between John and Carter. Carter was my 2nd fave character, so it was hard to watch, but as John said, it was a chance to be close to her again.

Great reaction video! I've been looking forward to you seeing this ep.
Your dislike for Iris is strong--and hilarious. And understandable. The other women in the show has a lot more character and nuance. And the fixer, Zoe! Reese seems more alive whenever she's around. Makes me wonder if it's deliberate, making Iris rather flat. IDK.
The Brotherhood feels less threatening than Elias, imho. We only get glimpses of how Elias' operation works, but the way characters react when it comes to his organization, you can feel Elias' palpable threat. But with the Brotherhood? They're growing in strength only because Elias was getting cut down thanks to Samaritan. In fairness to The Brotherhood, though, Elias had two seasons' worth to build his reputation, so there's that.
This was a very angsty episode. I'm rewatching S1 and S2 with a friend who's gotten on POI recently, and it really brings home how much Reese was affected by Carter's death. He's more somber; he no longer has that playful lilt to his voice. Hell, his voice got more whispery (idk how other people still manage to hear him, lol). It's like Finch is the only reason Reese is still ticking. But after Carter's death, and battling a more powerful ASI, on top of saving numbers, it's like we're actually seeing how all these things are really wearing him down.
Funny that you also mentioned how Reese is having this conversation with himself, and even has the self-awareness (despite being in a hallucinating daze) enough to realize how he's closed himself off against his friends. One could say that his therapy sessions with Iris worked, only that he just wasn't bringing her in to this development (if that makes sense).
What a poignant, bittersweet episode. It was nice to see Carter, if only as an apparition.

One of my favorites. The episode was for Reese to let go, so he can move on.
