Loy Krathong and Yi Peng are 2 similar festivals that coexist on the same day, the full moon of the same month.
Since Northern Thailand used to be a separate Kingdom, Loy Krathong is traditionally celebrated in Central Thailand, while Yi Peng is celebrated in Northern Thailand only.
Loy Krathong is celebrated on a full moon night of the 12th month (in the Central Thai calendar)
Yi Peng is celebrated on a full moon night of the 2nd month (in the Northern Thai calendar)
These two months are the same month but from different calendars.
