Interesting that this Vice video mainly focuses on Dr. Block's phone sex therapy - which is excellent. But she also conducts group therapy and theater therapy, which this just shows glimpses of. We need a part two!

I know quite a few men that could learn something from talking to a therapist like Dr. Suzy about their fantasies. I would think couples could really benefit from being able to have an experienced sex-pert to be a sounding board. Dr. Susan Block looks and sounds fantastic and, as always, on point with excellent advice and good times, and it's good to see Dr. Suzy's wisdom and the Bonobo Way reaching Vice TV's massive audience, but honestly, Vice's presentation is kind of disjointed and crass.
If I wasn’t studying to be a behavioral specialist, I would go for sex therapy. I’ve dealt with sexual trauma and I am a person who loves to help others. I praise you Dr. Suzy!

Very cool. I am a licensed psychtherapist myself. I work in addiction and trauma. I dislike getting sent consults for sex addiction as for one it isn't a diagnosis, and 2 most of what i find people label sex addiction is peoples family having a problem with a person's sexual activity and not the person themselves. It is usually normal sexual behavior that is viewed through a hyper Christian lens here in the bible belt. A lot of sexual issues are people being told they are dirty or bad for normal sexual bx.

Whenever people tell me that they're a "sex addict," I ask "Who called you that?" and usually it is someone in their life with an ax to grind. I hope Dr. Suzy is telling people to practice safe sex!, condoms etc because a sex "problem" might turn into a health problem. (I Didn't hear the words safe sex not even once)
Of course, Dr. Suzy constantly tells people to practice safer sex - because no form of sex (or life) is completely safe, but you can always lower the risk. Using condoms is certainly a big way to practice safer sex, as are dental dams, forms of outercourse and, of course, masturbation! Vice filmed Dr. Suzy for a whole weekend of interviews, and then used only a little over 17 minutes - it seems to us that they want to emphasize the most salacious parts - while at the same time, being a little sanctimonious. So, we're not surprised that they cut parts where Dr. Suzy emphasizes the importance of being as safe as possible in engaging in any sex practices.
Yes, on Her shows and in her journals, Dr. Suzy is always tell people to practice safe sex. She is very health conscious in very many ways. It's Vice that's leaving that out.

This is an interesting if somewhat trashy peek into the wonderful world of Bonoboville and Dr. Suzy's work as a sex therapist - it may be "controversial," but her work has been very effective for over 30 years and helps a lot of different kinds of people who really need help. Full disclosure: I'm a fan, and finally I got a chance to comment here, mainly to say Yay!!! Dr. Susan Block looks and sounds fantastic and, as always, on point with excellent advice and good times, and it's good to see Dr. Suzy's wisdom and the Bonobo Way reaching Vice TV's massive audience, but honestly, Vice's presentation is kind of disjointed and crass.
If I wasn’t studying to be a behavioral specialist, I would go for sex therapy. I’ve dealt with sexual trauma and I am a person who loves to help others. I praise you Dr. Suzy!

Very cool. I am a licensed psychtherapist myself. I work in addiction and trauma. I dislike getting sent consults for sex addiction as for one it isn't a diagnosis, and 2 most of what i find people label sex addiction is peoples family having a problem with a person's sexual activity and not the person themselves. It is usually normal sexual behavior that is viewed through a hyper Christian lens here in the bible belt. A lot of sexual issues are people being told they are dirty or bad for normal sexual bx.

Whenever people tell me that they're a "sex addict," I ask "Who called you that?" and usually it is someone in their life with an ax to grind. Also kudos to you for helping people with real addictions and trauma.

Of course, Dr. Suzy constantly tells people to practice safer sex - because no form of sex (or life) is completely safe, but you can always lower the risk. Using condoms is certainly a big way to practice safer sex, as are dental dams, forms of outercourse and, of course, masturbation! Vice filmed Dr. Suzy for a whole weekend of interviews, and then used only a little over 17 minutes - it seems to us that they want to emphasize the most salacious parts - while at the same time, being a little sanctimonious. So, we're not surprised that they cut parts where Dr. Suzy emphasizes the importance of being as safe as possible in engaging in any sex practices.
Yes, on Her shows and in her journals, Dr. Suzy is always tell people to practice safe sex. She is very health conscious in very many ways. It's Vice that's leaving that out.
Dr. Susan Block is very safe-sex oriented. You should listen to her regular show, not just the Vice version which is so desperately trying to be "controversial."
