Thank you sir, I own a 2014 sprinter 2500 , I've often had trouble starting in cold weather but after watching your video, hopefully I will have better luck next time. 👍🍺

I've been to multiple Mercedes dealers across the west and they say not let it warm up for more than 5-10 minutes because the DPF clogs up. You need to drive it at highway speeds once a week for 1-1.5 hrs if you are doing a lot of warming up or short drives around town. Bottom line is it needs to get up to temperature so they DPF will reach the temperature for regeneration.

Just got my 2005 3500 started this way along with a jump start. Engine light is on now though.

What happens if it creates that condensation you’ve mentioned? Also, my van keeps the choke open even if it idles for ten minutes, the choke shuts only when I engage in gear. Do you happen to know what causes that?
    Thank you

Best not to leave idling for too long as it takes ages to come up to temp and is inclined to fill the DPF which then has to regenerate automatically or need a trip to Merc. Always drive as soon as possible to get engine up to temp quickly.

Am I understanding the video correctly that I should turn the key to "acc," not "start" on the first key turn?

Im sorry! i cant believe people don't know that this light is for your glowplugs? I know im from uk where there are lots of diesels, but when you purchase a vehicle you really should just have a basic knowledge of how to start your vehicle!

Not sure I see how this comment is beneficial for anyone, here. I think the odds of you having to deal with -25°C temperatures while trying to start your diesels, there in the UK, is an extremely rare event. More constructive input is all that's really requested. Personally I thank the author for sharing the info as they did.
