      That is the oil I was leaning towards... seems to be the safest bet. Do you have a stock fuel pump? My local tuner is recommending I install a walbro 255 before the protune. I do not see many people doing that mod before they are tuned, so I'm kind of skeptical whether I will need it or not. It seems straightforward to install but I cannot say I would be excited to get into the fuel tank like that. Do you have any issues if you are running the stock pump. Thanks for any info.

      Brooks Vaile I do have the stock pump. it was good for 317 whp in my car but we were pretty much at its limit at those numbers. It's a pretty easy mod, depending on how much power you're trying to make it couldn't hurt.

    • @brooksvaile4639

    • @tr4ck_day

      Brooks Vaile It's completely normal for some of the lines to get a negative vacuum pressure in them after you turn the car off, there's no reason to worry about that, while it's on and running all the lines will flow just like they should.

    I need to follow through and do this to my 2015... I'm already at 100k miles though. Wondering how much longer I'll have before it won't be worth the money. :(

    are u running the stock calipers with upgrade rotors, stainless steel lines, pads and fluid? or are u running Brembo/Stop-tech/Ap racing calipers? i find that the stock brakes are pretty mushy mushy and heel toe is pretty much brake checking sometimes.

      @tr4ck_day  7 років тому

      looopandlooop I'm using stock calipers, but I upgraded pads, rotors, lines, and fluid. I swapped out my gas pedal and it makes H&T easier. I have a Stoptech Trophy BBK kit with Pagid pads in the mail as we speak though so it's about to get even better

      Paul Brumm no wonder ur H/T down so fast, the extra leverage by making the accelerator more level is significant in my opinion. also, did the tune get rid of the delayed throttle sensitivity? in stock config, when i did heel toe i have to push down harder on the accelerator sometimes to blip or else i dont get a blip or high enough rpm to match.

    Paul, awesome video! With these engine mods, how does it hold up for emissions testing?

    • @Currancchs
      @Currancchs 2 роки тому

      When tuning, emissions monitors are usually set to always pass and codes for any removed emissions equipment are disabled, although COBB and others have been disabling these options in recent software releases due to EPA crackdowns (previously, it was allowed only for "off-road use, but no proof of off-road only use was required).

    I wish they would keep uel headers for the 2.0. I know it makes more power like this but it sounds like any other inline 4, I wish subaru would keep the 2.5 flat 4 with uel headers across the wrx line. Sounds good tho.

    hey man I know you probably won't read this but i'd seriously suggest not using the harness unless it's properly setup with a roll cage (not just a harness bar or bolted to the rear seats). If you end up looking into it theres many cases of people becoming paraplegic or breaking both sides of the collar bone and so on, nice car though!

      mat werry First of all thank you for the very good advice. I took a lot of time fitting my seat, making sure the harness holes were above my shoulders and that the angle of the harness won't put any downward pressure onto my shoulders in an accident. I set it up with wine country motor sports, the shop that is at Sonoma Raceway, and a local shop that specifically builds and maintains track cars. Both of them brought that up and both of them were satisfied with the results. cheers!

    I'm looking to buy your exact car. either the 2018 with performance pack( I don't want a sun roof) or a 2017 if it's a better deal at the time. Wondering if any mod you did, helped reduce understeer a lot? I figured I would start with a rear sway bar and some negative camber.

    • @tr4ck_day
      @tr4ck_day  7 років тому

      shane mcnally Rear sway and end links is pretty much the biggest thing you can do to reduce it (don't get a front sway) without spending a lot more money. Good racing coilovers made a huge difference helping the car to rotate instead of understeer too, but that's quite a lot more money to spend.

    I Just recently bought a 2017 WRX Premium 6MT and I'm a little nervous to mod it. If I did I was going to do an Intake, TGV Deletes, Cobb AP, a Grimmspeed EBCS, and a protune. I want this car to last me at least a few years with minimal to no engine issues, I'm just looking for reliability to be honest lol. My question for you is, how long have you had it modded, and how many miles do you have on your car? Has it been reliable for you or not? If you could let me know I'd really appreciate it, thank you!

    • @tr4ck_day
      @tr4ck_day  7 років тому

      Dylan McKinney I've had the car for a year now with 20k miles and many track days. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to really make sure you get a good tune. Reliability is all in the tune. Go to a good, well-known shop and ask for a conservative tune and you should be fine. Use good gas and try your hardest not to make boost under 3k rpms in 5th and 6th and it should last and last.
      oh, and stay the fuck away from E85.

    • @tr4ck_day
      @tr4ck_day  7 років тому

      Claud K It really depends on how loud you want to go. The Grimmspeed, Invidia Q300 and Cobb all come to mind. It all depends on how loud you want it to be.

    are you on a stock clutch? if so, how's it handling this power? trying to get a gauge if stock clutch can handle some stress.

    • @tr4ck_day
      @tr4ck_day  7 років тому

      Gancho Ivanov Yeah I'm on the stock clutch and it handles it great. However, I never launch my car so that's where you may run into trouble. I hardly drive the car on the street so it doesn't get stoplight to stoplight all that often and on the track you're as smooth with the drive train as possible so I may not be the best judge.

    • @ganchoivanov1713

    Do you heel toe and if so how do you do it because I find the pedals are too far apart

    • @tr4ck_day
      @tr4ck_day  3 роки тому

      I've been doing heel and toe for most of my life so I find it fairly easy to adapt to most pedal boxes. That being said, I agree that the VA chassis is not the easiest to start out on. I only place the ball of my big toe on the brake pedal when braking and let the other 70-75% of my foot hang off to the side. It helps to bridge the gap on pedal boxes with a large gap and makes it easier to swivel my heal and keep consistent pressure on the brake.

    Anything special with your harness? I am at the point where I need more support during hard turns but I cant sacrifice any functionality of the back since my daughter rides back there with a car seat.

    • @tr4ck_day
      @tr4ck_day  7 років тому +1

      There's no way to install a harness without effecting the rear seating area. Just get a better seat, that's 90% of the support right there. The harness is mostly to hold you in place under massive braking loads.
