Is it possible to mistake this for something poisonous? 90% sure I have this in my backyard, but 100% sure I don’t want to die anytime soon…

Hi Maria--I now have a small cabin in the woods in northern MN--no lake just a creek and a pond and lots of wildlife. I have Service Berries--at least I am pretty certain that is what they are. Do the berries have large pits? Do the pits take up much of the interior of the berry? I was surprised to find that because no one talks about the pits. I have a nice amount of berries--enough to share with the birds and maybe even a wandering bear which has been known to happen up here. Good to know that you can crunch into the berries. Thanks for the info. I intend to make June Berry syrup. What do you think? --M

Hi Mari! Serviceberries have several small seeds. Is it maybe chokecherry? Here is an id page for reference: minnesotawildflowers.info/tree/chokecherry

You are totally correct. I did some more investigating and now I know I have 2 beautiful chokecherry trees. I am still looking for Service berries but I think with all the hungry wildlife around I will have to wait for next year. Thanks so much for your knowledge and sharing. --M

Great video! Very helpful! When you’re talking to the camera or an audience be calm and natural! As if you’re talking to your mom or your dad, or you know the person on the other end.

I'm jealous if they're still in season there! Although I can't complain since I've still got a lot in the freezer.

Sadly, they’re not anymore! ☹️ It was a short season, and it takes a few weeks for me to complete the video after I shoot it

😆 They’re along the Midtown Greenway where it crosses 28th St. There’s LOTS of fruits growing along the Greenway. Unfortunately the juneberries are over and done with, but you might be able to find something else!
