To the haters; George’s videos and knowledge that he shares have helped this ordinary average blind guy become quite the competent and successful blind home distiller!! To the folks new to home distilling; stick with George’s videos and you’ll learn so much on this great hobby! Once I learned the basics; I was able to go ahead and adapt all my equipment for a blind person to go through all the steps needed to make some fantastic spirits at home. Good tasting, high quality spirits that rarely give one a hangover! Next up for me is to build an audible PID controller. I got a line on a guy in Italy that sells one that goes through an app. But right now it is in only Android format. I’m hoping he’ll come up with an IOS version soon. Thanks George and God Bless!
You are a true hero of mine. Thanks so much for coming to our defense. No one can counter your comment given the situation you deal with and that is impressive. Many thanks from here. Haters: you see this? This is what true diligence looks like even though our friend may not be able to see as we do he sees much more than you'll ever experience. George
George talk as long as you want .. you present information in a relatable way .. and I'd hangout with ya ..I love the videos keep it up ..I dpnt know why you dont have more subscribers
George you by far have the most influential and informative videos about distilling on UA-cam. Haters just don't know what they're doing or tried to do it and failed then took it out on you. No matter what you do haters will always follow so don't mind them and keep on doing what you're doing. You're a distilling master and have helped the community pretty much more than anyone else. Thanks again for taking your time and making these videos. Theres really not a right or wrong way to distill all it comes down to is you have fun doing it and you keep trying until you find your own routine.
You are absolutely right. I just finally felt compelled to say something to the haters. I will refrain from commenting to them in the future. I do enjoy the hater posts but sometimes it is just ridiculous. Thanks George
I have watched so many of your videos and your dedication to teaching this craft is unsurpassed, you make it as easy to understand as possible, covering as many angles as possible for the novice to comprehend. I like to watch you and then do my own fact check from other sources and then there is the joy of learning from my failures... I think some people might lose sight of the joy of the journey and not just the destination. Keep up the good work.
Your Channel and Stillit, two best channels on on the subject on you tube, both of your channels have helped me to become a very good brewer, I believe. But still, I can still get better. I have been watching your channel for years. Every time I watch I learn something. It dose not mater how basic the subject may be, there is always something that will reveal its self. As I already know 99% of what you are talking about it makes it easier to find that 1% that I do not know or add to that bit of knowledge to find that are are moment. I have read lots of book on the subject and I still have lots to learn. Thank you for all you do. Don
Excellent video George. Knowing a wash/mash's ABV makes a huge difference in the distilling process especially when it comes to cutting and knowing how much you will end up with after the process is finished. That alone has helped me out tremendously. To calculate how much you will get you simply multiply the batch size by the alcohol by volume percentage that the batch has.
Thanks for the educational videos George it truly helps the average home distiller/hobbyist, much appreciation. such great knowledge and very easy to follow and understand your video topics. Clears the air on a lot of questions
Been thru the entire beginner series and enjoying the heck out of this new knowledge. Those playlists act almost like an index for me. Getting to know the answers to the questions you ask...👍
George, you are the best! THANK YOU for helping a newbie. I have subscribed and viewed many of your vids. I have compared you with others on YT and know that you communicate clearly, precise so that a high school chem student could replicate your process and, you display a passion for teaching that will challenge those who want to DO.
I really enjoy your videos. I've been making shine for about 20 years. I've learned a bunch from you. I have a pressure cooker pot still with 2 thumpers. I've been getting 20 + ABV from my mash for several years. Ive tried several different kinds of brewer's yeast and I get about the same result. I add 8 lbs of sugar to 5 gallon of mash I use both enzymes or malted barley to convert just depends on what I'm in the mood for. And my yeast. Then after 3 days I add 2 lbs of sugar and a lil more yeast then I do that every other day till the yeast dose not seem to take off the next day. Then I wait till it's done fermenting completely and cook off the best I've ever gotten is a little over a gallon and a half of whiskey from 5 gallons of mash. I run it till my mids and tails make a 100 proof. I kind of like keeping things simple but I'm interested in giving some of the things you do a try. Thank you for all the information and effort you put in to teaching us new things. I didn't even know what ABV was till I started watching your videos. I just kinds self taught through trial and error.
George, Hello from Australia, Thank You for your deep dives into the Science and your unique teaching style, I bought my first still a 2nd hand T500 reflux (Only Used twice) and have my first batch bubbling away just nicely. Been binge watching your vids and filling my gaps in the theory now to practice and get some experience. My eventual goal is the more exotic spirits like Absinthe, after I produce some quality Single distill cycles spirits, and learn my local water qualities. God bless & protect.
Thank you for making these great videos. I am learning so much and the community is incredibly helpful. This channel has become a really wonderful part of my life. I hope you keep going, this has been a fantastic learning journey. I truly appreciate the work that goes into this, you have a talent for teaching and I’m so happy I found this beautiful place.
I remember when i thought you talked too much, i have since found out it was only because i didn't know what you was on about, AT THAT TIME..... now, i can only sing your praises, it was my ignorance, not you talking too much..Keep talking George, i now know exactly what you mean....
Nice to see you here George :) My ABV , 45 to 48% + 9 can's of 12oz Old Orchard,100% Juice Then, Added 4Lb of Raw Cane Sugar ~ 270 = 11 to 12% ?? Is this right??
Can you use an old water heater for a still? Just saw an old episode where the pot was a boat oblong wood and steel. Moonshiners use large ones several hundred gallons. These were set on concrete blocks with a gas heat source under it. Tim is the shiner I am referring to. Thank you for your service always watch and I am so interested in all that you say. Please keep talking. I watch episodes of you and others over and over in order to gleam as much as possible out of what you say. Thanks in advance, keep on stilling.
It is already activated. You don't really need to do anything with it. Place the carbon in some sort of container where you can pour the spirits in and allow it to flow through the carbon and out into a container. George
@@steviertommoethompson5932 Actually fish tank carbon can be problematic. Until I started researching this topic I was not aware of the science behind carbon. It will do a fair job at best but the carbon chamber (without going into this too deep) are different from fish tank filters and carbon designed for filtering spirits. Of course there is a cost difference as well not too much but it is a little more. Hope this helps George
Sorry for the delayed response. I was on vacation in Vegas for the past 5 days. The Specific Gra=vity will be affected so I would recommend using the proof and trale hydrometer as a guide. Check out online calculators for measurements of cutting agent to proofed alcohol to see how much you need by volume to achieve your desired proof.

How do i test my OG when using a continuous distil like UJSSM....?
GOOD STUFF THANK YOU !
Hey Uncle George Can one distill the alcohol a second time to achieve a higher proof ?
Awesome
You have again left me with a new question which I love. What is the other 15% of table sugar that isn't fermentable?
What is the shelf life of the apple pie? Does it need to be refrigerated?
Thanks again.
What is in table sugar that makes it only about 85% fermentable?
what song you use at the beginning video?
Do you think that almost 200 or a 180゚ is too high to go even to get any alcohol
What’s the difference between ABV and alcohol contents
hi george I have just purchased a bag of activated carbon for filtering my finished distillate how do use it and activate the carbon
It is already activated. You don't really need to do anything with it. Place the carbon in some sort of container where you can pour the spirits in and allow it to flow through the carbon and out into a container.
George
cheers the carbon was for aquarium fish tanks is this still ok to filter without doing anything to the carbon

If you cut with juice instead of water, is the alcoholometer still accurate or does it throw off the ABV because it's reading sugars?

Send me an email and I will send you the MP3

Excellent. They are everywhere.
Btw your awesome!
So moonshine is basically everclear
Can you make a mash with fresh corn on the cob?
Yes, but you do need to remove it from the cob.
George
You gave it recipe for apple pie moonshine and you said to use to Star Yeast and you normally suggest daddy East what is the difference
One other question about the apple pie recipe you didn't say how much water to use in the pot just simmer
Star anise
george, we need to find someone like you to discuss and teach the liberal democrats in va and other states about gun owners.
Those who critics don’t want to learn. They are already blind.
Missed some more:( My ABV , 4.5 to 4.8%
Sounds reasonable. I can't tell because you didn't provide any gravity readings.
George
Have you done a video on how to get high ABV?
No. Getting a high ABV is not the purpose of distilling unless you are making fuel.
George
You say what you gotta say George.
Thanks Michael
