We just had a bridge here in OK today too.
@@jensherman2771 The Oklahoma Department of Transportation was able to inspect the bridge and determined that it was safe for vehicle travel. The bridge is now open again.
Stuff is being removed. If you go to the livestream of the bridge, they have at least four barge cranes lifting stuff out of the water right now. It's a slow process but they are working on it.

this goes to show what happens when you don't plan for the worst when building a bridge plain and simple some bridges have concrete barriers to protect their bridges but Baltimore do not have it protecting their bridges and as you can see people died from it

Ships lose power all the time. Things fail and malfunction. Especially on these foreign flagged rust buckets.

I'm guessing that one of the most challenging aspects of this investigation will be cataloging the
previous inspections of that ship, and reviewing past procedures made to make any repairs etc etc
Components of that ships computer systems will be evaluated & examined.This is no ordinary vessel.
They will also look into the procedures & checklists prior to leaving port. Information will be kept minimal
to the public until investigations are completed for "Insurance claim purposes" & whatnot. But they will
most definitely find out if it was bad fuel, fire, bad engine (Engines go bad......Picture a car engine hauling
a load of 400 fully loaded locomotives as an example) An engine powerful enough to do this feat would have
some fairly complicated parts. If something went bad with it, they would disassemble it to find out what part
failed. LOTS OF WORK, LOTS OF INVESTIGATION, LOTS OF TIME. For sure, a whole bunch to look at.

That wasn't a piece or a part of the Key bridge. It appears to simply be a stabilizing piling that the crane barge uses to held hold the barge in place while the crane is in operation. It is difficult to see but the piling is more of a reddish/rust color while the Key bridge has a bright battleship grey color. My apologies to the Editors but it would seem that whoever submitted this video/story to you lied and has no integrity. Look carefully here>>>> 00:18 to see what i mean. The gov can provide immediate emergency funding. The shipping insurance litigation will take twenty years before reimbursement is paid out. Exxon Valdez still had unresolved pending litigation 25 years after the oil spill.
Insurance is paying and will be paying. The goal is to fix this ASAP, and the govt is on the hook to do it quickly.

well if they build it like in Canadian bridges are made with concrete barriers to Protect the bridge next time the bridge will hold plain and simple instead of collapsing they need the plan for what if a large ship looses power and collides with the bridge because if it can happen once it can happen again and again like a plane crash

@@1940limited12 to 24 months is not bad. This is a one mile road in front my house, took two years to patch and repair in Boston. So i think the whole process of rebuilding This bridge will take at least 10 years, unless the city hire a Chinese bridge company with Chinese construction workers.
There appears to be no videos of the cranes lifting any of the bridge derbies. No videos of the thousand ton crane lifting anything.

The Army Corps of Engineers are the ones in charge of the removal and eventual reconstruction of the bridge.
The bridges that the military uses for river crossings that are set up quickly, would block the channel for ships.
Only issue is the military bridge would eb a floating bridge and would block the port, Military can build span bridges that far.

If we wait for the insurance adjuster to come from whatever foreign country the clean up is going to take even longer. The insurance company adjuster will be able to look at the ship and all the footage and anything else from the national transportation safety board

Taxpayers should never have paid to replace that bridge. The company who owned the ship has insurance. Let the insurance pay.

The larger American economy is impacted by this. We suffer more the longer it takes to deal with this. Getting the ships insurance to pay will happen down the road, once the evidence has been collected, a proper investigation has been completed, and lawyers do their thing in court. But that could be years down the road. The best thing to do in the mean time is eat the cost and get this critical port open. Remember, it is a primary port for the import of vehicles and farm equipment, and has already put 8,000 people out of work in the greater Baltimore/Maryland area.
Insurance will payout but it’s going to take time. The long the bridge sits in the water the greater the economic impact will be.

Desantis, not saying fan or not. Sanibel Island bridge (heck of a bridge) had failed. They had a temporary bridge in 5 days. Obviously different challenges with each project but.... 5 days.... 5 days folks. Okay maybe the oxygen is thin up north but... 5 days.

The problem in Baltimore is different. We don't need to build a bridge in 5 days because we have other bridges and even a tunnel that connect us. The issue here is cleaning up the wreakage of the fallen bridge so that other ships can continue to come in and out of the port of Baltimore.
Cleaning up has been challenging due to various reasons.
What has he done? A simple Google search reveals nothing.
