the voices of the void have permanently effected the librarian.. 1st helldivers, and now ultrakill?
I was NOT expecting him to play ultrakill, but im very happy he is
Honestly would love a series of this game. Most gameplays don't pay attention to the world building and you taking the time to read and learn about the enemies is very cool. Also this is the first game that when I tried to 100% it was actually very fun trying to find all the secrets and easter eggs.
This is what makes Librarian picking this game up particularly exciting to me! He might need a little time to get used to exactly how Hakita (the lead dev) likes to hide secrets all over levels, not to mention the secret levels as a whole, but Librarian is a meticulous reader who actually takes his time by researching recent encounters and it's super neat to see my own playstyle basically mirrored here.
He's playing Ultrakill now? AWESOME!
Tip: This is very much a "You can do that?!" type of game, have fun trying new things with your gear!
REAL. If you can think of something that might be possible, IT PROBABLY IS!
I audibly yelled "OH MY GOD" when I saw this.
This is one of the most influential games of my life.
Librarian, I forgot when you said this, but when you were talking about how difficulty should make you play a certain, more effective way, this was the first game I thought of.
This game not only has extremely fun easter eggs that we'll definitely force you to play, but it also gets really tough. And the only way to conquer it is to just get right back in and kill stylishly.
you gotta play more games if this is the peak dawg im so sorry 😭wtf is your top 3 then?
@@gothmfsalem you have NOT played Ultrakill to its full potential if you think it isn't worth praise
@@gothmfsalem ultrakill may have flaws (both inherent and not) and i might not even like it anymore at all, but i'll stil yell out how damn worthy of praise it is
@@gothmfsalem
I don't really have a top 3, I just know that ultrakill is peak fps.
This game also made literally half of my music taste. It introduced me to Keygen Church, MASTER BOOT RECORD, HEALTH, Godspeed You! Black Emporer, and Swans.
This feels like watching Isabelle play DooM
Ignoring the whole "horror youtuber playing ultrakill" situation I love the new intro!
@@ItsRevival Like, a drama? None. It's just Librarian deviating from his usual genre, which is horror
11 PM , it was time to sleep. I turned on my phone to see how much charge is left. My eyes saw "Librarian" and "ultrakill" in a single notification. Sleep is irrelevant now.
Few months ago I was thinking “what if librarian played ultrakill sometime” but realized that would be too ridiculous. Now I’m not so sure..
When I saw this i was SHOCKED that the LIBRARIAN was playing ULTRA-GODDAMN-KILL. You are going to LOVE the lore i bet.
Also:
Tips of the week:
-Punching you shotgun's primary fire will PARRY the "bullets", making them faster and EXPLOSIVE.
-Shooting more nails on a enemy you have attached on to with the JUMPSTART nailgun makes it do more damage, and the electricity can flow through groups of enemies.
-If a melee attack or hitscan attack has a YELLOW flash, you can parry it by hitting the attacking enemy. Projectile attacks with a yellow flash are also always parry-able
-CORE EJECTS/GRENADES can be shot by the revolver and other hitscan weapons, causing a larger explosion.
-Coins can be PUNCHED.
-Parrying heals you.
-Dashing gives you invincibility frames.
ADVANCED TIP(S):
-When an enemy is using a HITSCAN attack, coins can be thrown into the way of the attack and DEFLECT the attack back into the enemy or other enemies.
Ah yes, my favorite horror game, Ultrakill
Something wicked this way comes...
Honestly, I really hope there's more content and Violence gets covered, because that layer has outright hostile vibes and actually approaches the tone of a horror game.

I hated it so much when i encountered it for the second time

never thought I'd see the day. PLEASE make this a series.
Oh my... obviously The Librarian drank a Red Bull after his 3 cups of coffee. Lets go!!!
Today I broke a mouse while P-ranking act 2 levels and had to run out to get one, you would not believe how action pumped this game is. It feels seeing you play this after reading all terminal entries instinctively with your exact voice.
I love how he actually took his time in the tutorial and takes his time with the game. On your first playthrough you dont have to speedrun anything its more entertaining seeing someones genuine first playthrough instead of rushing everything. This game has surprisingly deep lore behind enemies and characters too.
More of this. I can't wait to see his reaction to Wrath and Violence.
Word of advice: almost EVERY projectile can be parried, and anything with a yellow spark can be parried as well.
I need to see librarian play Layer 7: VIOLENCE, anyone who has played that layer will know why.
We got Librarian to play Ultrakill before GTA 6... that's wild.
PLEASE MAKE THIS A SERIES!!!
this is the last thing i'd expect The Librarian to play, but hell yeah im into it
It’s nice being able to look at a comment section of a new *Ultrakill* player and not immediately see top comments telling the creator how they need to play “correctly” or what they did wrong.
God, I love this game- watching someone else play it for the first time really reminds me just how incredible the game design of ULTRAKILL is, how everything is so intuitive and so SATISFYING. If you do play it on the channel again, I'd love to see you check out the secrets (especially the prelude secret level, 0-S.) Speed is rewarded, but so is curiosity and thoroughness.
i was not expecting my man who played liminal maps to play ULTRAKILL one day 😭🤯
Compiling a bunch of tips here for you Librarian, which I've picked up from watching others play this:
- Parry E v e r y t h i n g. 'Nuff said.
- You can parry your own shotgun shots, doing massive damage.
- Sliding is more time efficient than walking. Which means more style points, which means taking less damage and therefore losing less health. Speed is key!
- You should be moving, constantly. (Helps to avoid damage)
- The coin trick is OP.
- Then again so is every weapon type.
- Oh, and, say hi to Benjamin for me when you get to him! (Tip: He doesn’t like coins)
Librarian playing ultrakill gotta be one of the craziest crossovers of the century
where the HELL am I?
Librarian playing ULTRAKILL was the last thing I was expecting!
Can't wait to see this!
I wasnt expecting YOU of all people to play this, funny, hilarious even
I've been wanting to suggest this as well, because many of the environments and horror/liminal-esque elements just fit in so well with the channel
I know why this was suggested. Despite the high action, the secret levels in this game often breaks up the normal running and gunning for different game genre styles. I can say this: Prologue's secret level is bit of a thing and not for its difficulty. If you find it, remember this: The game's aesthetic is merely how V1, and many other machines like it, sees the world.
...well now you've got me wondering what Something Wicked actually is.
My friend, you have no idea what you're in for and I'm all in for the ride. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did
New intro and Ultrakill!? I can't WAIT until you see the Violence Layer!
Ultrakill lore with Librarian is going to be superb
I would love a full playthrough of this
I’m not trying to backseat here but I’ll give you some tips to help
1. Most enemies attacks can be parried look out for a yellow flash right before they attack to parry them.
2. Each act has at least one secret weapon, 1-2 secret missions, 3-5 secret orbs, and one challenge per level, and one prime soul.
3. To get the hang of the combat definitely buy all the upgrades and practice them in either the sandbox or cybergrind.
4. You can parry your shotgun pellets.
Hope this helped. 😄
Please continue with Ultrakill. I really like your live commentaries and I also really like Ultrakill, so seeing you commentate Ultrakill is a dream come true :D
Ok im convinced im in the wrong universe.
Absolutely *blindsided* to see it on my home page.
I never even *considered* an overlap between the two.
I'm glad he's having so much fun though.
I would love to see more ultrakill if you're up for it
no WAY librarian is playing ULTRAKILL??? Hell yeah!!!
I really hope you do continue playing Ultrakill as a series. The game is really fun and surprisingly full of lore. and secrets...
Yeeeeesssss. I Was JUST Playing Ultrakill And Listening To One Of Your Gmod Videos In The Background! ^w^
@@DudeStrange Yep! But I'm Really Bad, So We'll See If I Can Even Keep Up!
and..... yet another ULTRAKILL gameplay that I'll have to fully watch till the end...
Love that you're playing this game! Glad you take time to read the lore, AND DON'T FORGET TO GET OTHER WEAPON TYPES!!!
i never thought this game would come, truly. you're the most intriguing THING that has ever graced my mind. and that makes me very. comfused...
This is the absolute last game i thought you'd be playing, but i'm absolutely here for it. Ultrakill bangs
I love that you take the time to read through everything, that was the one thing that i was missing from most ULTRAKILL playthroughs.
The Librarian is now a variety gaming channel. Cool.
No way he did it. Everyone said it wouldn’t happen. I called it and suggested it. Not saying I was the first but I stirred up the hive. I feel honored
I did not expect the librarian to play ultrakill but I'm not complaining
although I don't know if it's much of his game type
please continue playing this its realllly good and gets better
as someone who's spent hours getting perfect ranks in the two first acts of the game, i must say your slow paced "taking it all in" gameplay is very refreshing to see, its nice to see someone pause and let themselves read and know a little more about the game's world besides the action. great commentary as well!!
i love seeing new people play ultrakill
its so funny to see them struggle with something i can do without thinking
Please make this a series! I always wondered what you would think of this masterpiece, and I'm not just talking about the gameplay.
never expected you to play this
but I'm happy you're having fun
Few tips:
99% of projectiles can be parried
Most attacks can be parried, and attacks that have a yellow eye flash to them imply that they can be parried as well.
Parrying also fully heals you.
ALso, if you ground slam, and then jump. You can gain additional height.
As in you will ALWAYS jump slightly higher than the point at which you started to ground slam.
it's a great way to save yourself from falling off things and getting into higher spots.
What an unexpected surprise!
It'd be super cool to see you continue playing!
Even if it's a bit different from your normal content, variety is the spice of life after all.
Watching him avoid the Blood Orb in 1-3 was painful 💀
I would recommend making this a series, there is some really great lore further into the game that I'd love to see your reaction to! Besides, Ultrakill does dabble with horror sometimes, so there's also that to look forward to
"Heart Of The Sunrise" has to be a reference to the Yes song.
OH MY GOD!!! ONE OF MY FAVORITE UA-camRS PLAYS ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES??? IM IN HEAVEN HOLY SNAPPPP!! i’d love to see the rest of act I from you! maybe the rest of the game too!
I love your vibes with the game! Hope to see you play more :)
this feels like Librarian took a moment to enjoy playing game and have fun after all the scares from horror games, which is refreshing in terms of content variety
This was so much fun to watch. I hope you continue thr series :D
A few pieces of advice from a veteran of this game:
If a yellow 4-pointed star appears before an enemy does an attack, that means you can parry it by punching the enemy directly. This includes the Malicious Face's explosion beam.
On the subject of Parries, you can parry your own shotgun bullets to make them hit faster and harder.
The Electric variant of the nailgun, once connected to an enemy, will charge faster as long as you're shooting enemies.
One final note: Its a bit strange how the robots bleed, isn't it? I suppose it makes sense given how they're fueled by blood, but come to think of it, how does that work? it might be worth thinking about.
I really want this to be a series.
i think this is the last game i expected from this channel
Seeing this pop up on my recommended caught me so off guard, but I'm so glad you played this and I'd love to see a series on it
Oh man I love playing this game with official 3rd party peripheral device support
Tip of the Day: Don't be afraid to pick up a new weapon or variant. There's no such thing as too many weapons.
Oh my, I was about to suggest you to play this, guess you anticipated me 😂, if I can give you some hint on how to play I could tell you that, yes parrying is indeed very important as well as dodging and sliding since almost every attack in the game is parryiable (even physical ones) so I suggest you train parrying in sandbox mode and practice using the marksman too while you're at it since it's probably the most versatile weapon in the game and is deadly especially used in comboes, also try to keep yourself in the air the more you can and don't be afraid to try stuff out that's how you can find your play style, also keep well in mind that while you dash you are invulnerable you might need this information later in the game, you should also keep your eyes open for secrets, especially in the prelude levels, you might as well consider to revisit them to find some, because that's where the spooky stuff is 👀
OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME IN A MONTH YESS I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG OH MY GOD YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS
Comfy, creepy and Krilling Demons
This is the game I least expected Chris to play but I'm here for it.
Honestly i dig the new intro. And i know that the librarian is technically is horror specific channel but with his voice he could narrate any game and it would still be cool
Cant believe youre playing my fav game, Librarian PLEASEE make this a series
I started playing ultrakill recently, so imagine my surprise when i see this video pop in my recommendations feed! Hope you find the game as fun as i do! As the other comments have said, dont be afraid to experiment with your weapons and the environment. This game has a lot of thought and dedication put into it
EDIT: Im nearing the end of the video and i gotta say that despite mastering the first levels, im having lots of fun watching you play the game. Its very cool to see how others play and what weapons they prefer (For a while, the pump charger shotgun was my go-to weapon for almost anything haha)
Really hope this gets its own series, would love to see the reaction to some of the later shenanigans
"It seems like I've made it through a decent chunk of the game."
Has completed one fourth of the first of nine layers.
Im so glad you played ULTRAKILL, it's such a good game with an incredible lore behind.
Reading every terminal entry paints an incredible picture of everything.
I really hope you keep uploading videos of it, seeing your reactions to the lore, and also seeing you learn how to play the game is so fun.
Also uh, you were right that good players look like gods when playing this.
Librarian this is scaring me what are these uploads(fantastic)
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD FROTHING AT THE MOUTH YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS GAME AND HOW EXCITED I AM THAT YOURE PLAYING IT 💪💪💪💪💪💪‼‼‼‼‼‼‼
Btw. there are secret bosses in this game. but you have to get a perfect rank in every single act in order to unlock them. and by fighting them, you'll learn far more about this story than you would normally
gonna explain how electricity (jumpstart nailgun) works
1 attach close range cable (do not use secondary fire again, it will reset the charge)
2 wait for it to charge
3 sends electricity
electric damage gets buffed immensely depending on the amount of nails in the enemy
also this may make it too easy but: electricity chains to other enemies if they have nails or magnets in them
have fun : )
and small note: you can read a boss' entry before killing them, terminal is always right near the checkpoint
it will only show strategy though, lore will only appear after defeating them
gonna do a little silly with the electric rail[spoiler] and the nailgun now thanks for getting me back into this game!!
I absolutely cannot wait for you to experience the lore of this game. It makes me ponder the meaning of life more then the Talos Principle.
Never did I think I'd see The Librarian play ULTRAKILL.
From watching voices of the void season 2 to this is truly quite the change
i would definitely continue this series, there are so many surprises that I love to see reactions to, aswell as some creepier levels. btw, i'd recommend exploring the second level a bit more.
WHUH???? Dude I JUST went off the deep end (tone indicator: /positive) with getting into this exact game and now one of my favorite youtubers is getting into it???
Librarian, thank you so much, this is officially the best timeline. The lore is sick, you're gonna LOVE it.
Also, be prepared for backseaters/possible spoilers in the comments. this fandom is particularly notorious for being absolutely terrible about it. It's not something done out of malice, the ultracommunity just has this tendency to get very excited every time a new cool person dips their toes into the blood-bath.
I am particularly bad about this. I yelled when he missed the secret in the skylight in the last room in 1-1. Hell, he even broke the glass which made me think he was going to check and made me all the more disappointed when he didn't. As for what that secret is..... I won't spoil.
I try my hardest to not backseat this game but some of the things first tome players do pain me
@@mrthuggerson7919 oh yeah a lot of content creators don't notice that a lot of the lore books and stuff have scroll bars (this one book in I think 7-1 is especially bad for it because it's one line that's ALWAYS missed), but I don't think Librarian should have this issue - he should be pretty meticulous when it comes to books that hold exposition, methinks!
...unless I'm wrong and he has already missed something - I'm saving this video for after my upcoming wisdom tooth extraction so I can distract myself from some of the pain.
I was REALLY hoping you’d play this game! easily in my top 3 fav games
Definitely a change of pace, but not one that I mind, more pls, would like to see what you think of the wider lore.
I was not expecting to see one of my favorite youtubers play one of my favorite gamnes. I am so excited!
Finally! I've been searching for people who play the game AND read the lore! The farther you go, the more interesting enemy data will become, I can assure you
53:30 I really like your commentary after reading about small bits and pieces of lore you find in the terminals.
Please continue making videos on the game at least until you've beaten it, there's so much more to it than meets the eye, in particular its suprisingly interesting plotline and themes.
i did not expect this to be a librarian video
I left for months, and I come back to this.
Not the game I was expecting you to play... But this works, and it's quite entertaining too.
Nice intro, by the way! Fits nicely. It's snug.
please play more of this game, it's incredible and has so much insane tech to learn
He'll play this but not YumeNikki not that I really mind, Ultrakill's great.
I think I'm in some sort of alternate dimension. And this alternate dimension is friggin AWESOME!!!!!
Hey librarian, just letting you know there’s a secret level in every layer - including the prologue! i think you’d be extremely interested in the prologue secret level in particular. hint - the entrance is in the second level of the prologue, remember to look up for puzzle pieces
