An interesting fact that I learned not too many years ago. Ronnie called himself The Mississippi Kid and he was from Jacksonville, FL. He also said he would never live to see the age of 30. His friends and band mates got tired of hearing it. He died in Mississippi at age 29.
Lisa Michelle Thanks I didn’t know Ronnie was the Mississippi Kid. Unreal!
Skynryd was always unapologetically themselves and I always appreciated that real-ness.
Wow ..first time I seen this one reacted to.....very nice LOVE this band.
You can talk about Beetles, stones, Doors and more, but Skynyrd is the greatest band of all time. Hands down.
I love this song glad someone is reacting to it because it is not one of their well known songs
Bout time someone done this song
Lynyrd Skynyrd from my hometown Jacksonville Florida another nice reaction man
Do you ever feel like Ronnie's lying to you in these songs? Course not. Their beauty and appeal are built on his honesty. For me that's the principal reason they work.
I was also raised up on that cornbread🌽🍞
This is the only song Ed King played guitar on the first album; sweet slide work!
How many bands can go from screaming 3 guitar melt your face rock to a stripped down mandolin/ dobro acoustic and still have the same effect? None I've seen .
Skynyrd never had a bad song but Mississippi Kid may be their greatest hidden gem.
That Deep Down Delta Sound 🤠🤘🏼🎧🎤🤠🤘🏼🎧🎤
Loved your reaction ... these boyz are from my neighborhood in Jacksonville.
I haven't heard this in years ! I love it always have
that right there is a deep cut for sure............a fave of mine for years and never hear this one unless i'm droppin the needle!
Cheers Brother!!!
Things going on
Poison Whiskey
Hey great choice, Try “ Things going on” next. Another one that nobody does but a real good song and the message still rings true today! Life lessons is what this band gave us.
This has that feeling that you pulled up a chair on the porch & you're passing 'round the jar of moonshine! Love me some Skynyrd!
Yessir, more than 40 years listening to them, that is one of my favorite songs, and MADE IN THE SHADE, a couple of down home Jams.
Another less well known Skynyrd song worth a listen is Four Walls of Raiford
One of my favorite SKYNYRD song, need to check out Four walls of Raeford by them it's awsome!!! Enjoyed this reaction
Much better than curtis low.
Right on
Thank you for your reaction. Long Live Lynyrd Skynyrd
White Dove By skynyrd is a song that is so underrated. It's on first and last.
That was the end of the song simulating pistol shots. Great song, nice reaction brother! ✌🏻
My fave!
Might have heard this one before (have a friend who listens to alot of LS) but never noticed it.
Started out felt like just a simple song-a singer and a guitar, kept adding layers - still felt like it was just a simple song but ended so pleasantly full sounding (to me).
That whole album rocks but American music during the late 60s and early 70's just rocks. Americana folk, blues, and soul. It's just great music!!!
Love that harmonica though. As always, appreciate your honesty and integrity. ✌️
One of my favorite lynyrd skynyrd songs!!
LOVE, never gets old..You Da Man!!!
There is “Truth” in every Skynyrd song ! Try “Am I Losin”
One thing I enjoy, is you playing songs you know. As a huge fan, I’ve never heard this! Thank you!
Oh yeah! Love these guys.
That's what I love about Skynyrd, even their most subdued songs are on another level. I've listened to their catalog of music for 47 years and I can not find a song I dislike. Every song has some bit of truth and wisdom to it, and every song is packed with some of the best guitar work ever produced, imo. That raw/dirty sound that you mention is exactly what draws me to their style, too. Their recordings all have that certain sound/feel to them, as if the whole band was in the studio, the engineer yelled, "We're rolling" and it was all recorded in one big live take.
Thank you. Yes it's about the music.
Proud of ya man , you have found one of them gems ..
Workin for MCA...Is pretty heavy. Trust me, try it
Got a Lightnin Hopkins feel
This was the only song from this session that Ed King played lead guitar . The rest of the album he played Bass , except for guitar fills on Tuesdays Gone .
Mandolin by Al Kooper .
There's so many great Skynard songs.
I just had the utmost respect for your reactions and who you are
thank you David
The singer was known to be a street fighter.
Loved this reaction❣✌🇦🇺
Love Southern life
Their songs are so diverse. I love their bluesy tunes!
Man I love this song!!! I've not heard anybody else react to this one! Great job man!! Another great one is "four walls of raiford" or "mr banker!!!"
Nice choice.
Might I suggest
Things going on
Thanks for reacting to this song, I did not know it but I think it's great. It actually made me think of Rory Gallagher, probably because of his song Going to my hometown.🙂
Could you please react to Rory Gallagher? Before mentioned song, or any other you would like to react to (but please do a live one).
Can you react to Coming Home and/ or Every Mothers Son by Skynyrd?
Two Great songs !
Try the song Poison Whiskey by Skynyrd. Based on Robert Johnson.
Like your reaction and your transparency
lynyrd skynyrd was heavily influenced by the blues and in my opinion their best songs are the ones that lean more on the blues side . They were one of the best bands to ever do it
I know You Ain't the One, but I bet you are Double Trouble - you know when a black cat cuts your trail - LORD they come in pairs of two ...
Were you a Simple Man before Tuesday left ? You probably have a lot of Things Goin' On now that you are a Free Bird .
Take care of that Mississippi Kid and stay away from the Poison Whiskey .
If you can, please Gimme Three Steps for learning how to resist the temptations of going to the Jug and meeting up with Linda Lu .
The Little Brown Jug was a bar, not far from the high school .
Swamp Music - LYNYRD SKYNYRD .
Hey - it's a simple song as far as lyrics but the band churns out the rhythm, bass and side riffs so busy and non-stop that it is very hard to concentrate on any part because there is so much goodness going on from each member . I promise if you listen to this song on headphones you will want to play it over and over at least 100 times .
It is my favorite song of all time :
The reason why I like this song so much is that every member of the band is steadily slamming out the jam during the entire song . I can taste strawberry, peach, apple, raspberry, grape, cinnamon, cherry, banana, pecan, watermelon, avocado, persimmon, and fried bream . ( with salt and black pepper )
I would very much like a ' Second Helping ' ( Their Second Album 1974 )
I just listened to it 5 times after making this comment .
Make that 6 times .
I went to the same high school they went to - 10 years after them .
Robert E. Lee High School
They named the band after their gym teacher who kept bugging them about their hair . ( Leonard Skinner )
I have about 8 thousand mp3 files of about 40 rock groups from the 70 ' s .
That is the only song I play - over and over and over - sometimes more than 10 times in a row .
Please allow me. While visiting a live chat of Reactors I followed, it was their first live. I thought they were a loving couple. Then they let loose on how racist the South is! But never been there, opinion based off a movie.
Same with the stigma that followed LS because they flew the Southern Flag from the Civil War - marking the South from the North (of which a bad group of people made it a bad symbol). Have your opinion, but KNOW what your talking about first!
Check out double trouble if you want some funky stuff
As Caption will say....Make it so..
Searchin is another good one
Love it 👍
They were bad ass.
That’s the Deep South sound
Did not know you had more channels. Try Marshall Tucker can’t you see. Watch the thumb pickin
Ronnie never wrote any lyrics down, if you have any opportunity to listen to the demos you can pick it up right away ✌️
Jacksonville sons
Can you play "The Last DJ by: Tom Petty" Please! 👏
Let me help you. 2 Skynyrd songs you have missed... both full of meaning.
"Was I right or wrong"
"Don't ask me no questions"
BTS dropped Dynamite yesterday! Hope you will check it out!!!! They pay homage to Michael Jackson!
It's coming!!!!
Yeah I guess Bob Burns didn't want to be left out on drums,so he got a drum roll at the end?
