I've been giving free practice readings to my friends, and my friends friends, and I did a reading for this guy, everything seemed to be going great until I got to the last card on the Celtic cross which was the 9 of swords, and so I pulled out a clarity card hoping to be able to put a positive spin on it, and I pulled the Tower card. I felt so bad, and that reading haunted me for a week, I actually messaged the guy to help give a more positive spin, and I told him that we all have a choice to choose our own path, and maybe the card meant he will have a spiritual awakening of some sort, and then a few days passed, and he was kicked out of his band for seemingly no reason, and then the Tower card made sense. It made me realize that I have to learn how to read in a way that my querent goes away feeling empowered, and not scared and depressed, even though I know there's not much choice when it comes to the Tower card.
Wow, I have to say, even on youtube general readings, if I see an outcome like that I leave the channel because I am afraid it will imprint on me and via "law of attraction" make me surely create it, if I see that in my future. But if the Soul knows that these old things have to crumble, it is probably inevitable. So, the best I could see for that, if it came up for me (which kind of just did as just got fired from a job I liked) I would see that the client must be ready for some huge Soul growth and to the Soul the tower may be one of the greatest cards in the deck...and in the end we all have to detach from this world and its structures and find our security and sustenance and even abundance within. Thank you for sharing your experience by writing back, I have clarified this for myself.
I think if I ended a free reading with the tower, I would take that card as position 1 and do a full Celtic cross starting with the tower as the base. (Ending with a tower card feels like I read half a book and the pages are gone)
There are few things as wonderful for a Tarot reader than having a nice, organized clear physical space to work. A good physical space helps me with my emotional & mental space for readings. What kind of camera did you get? I'm still using my old iPhone! 😆 Oh, and I am completely with you about making sure there are tissues for querents. Some folks just need a safe place to cry & process their emotions. (And after some readings, I need those tissues myself.)
Omg... I saw this title wrong and thought it said "6 tips for when it hurts to crap" and I was like .. When did I out that in my watch list??? On a serious note this is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. So much great info.
One tip is to remind the client that the "internal factors" card, right before the outcome card (if you're doing Celtic cross) are within the clients control. This is where they can make changes that can affect the outcome. The more I do the Celtic cross the more I understand how all the positions build upon each other and interact and affect each other.
I always remind people from the moment the cards come out that they have free will, so take responsibility and do your part (even if it means taking care of yourself before others)!
I was doing some practice readings and I had some that were really harsh like this and one that started out with "you are being selfish" and I struggled with how I would say that to a person. It made a lot of sense as I got into the reading but it was a rough start.
I love the way you put it - we all need to hear things in different ways. When I first started doing readings for others (which was not very long ago) and would be doing reading by email and the cards would be all good and then their would be a bad one; and I'd be like oh no. I don't want that card, I must've drew the wrong one for them, this was meant for me instead of them, can I take this one out and draw another one (all the thoughts went into my head) and I was hesitant to not share those. Like this was going so good, why did that card have to come in and throw a wrench in it. But I knew in my heart that I had to share those too even if they made no sense to me, when everything else seemed to be going so well. So I went ahead and shared and I learned real quick from their responses that that is the card they needed to hear the most. At the end for more guidance and to leave on a lighter note so they wouldn't fret over that, I would soften it up by drawing some oracle cards and/or talking about how this negative could be a positive, how they had the choose free will to change that if they wanted and in the end all would be well if they made that their intention and/or did the work to go a different direction. Thanks Ethony!
You're welcome and thank you for allowing me to share and letting me know that I'm not the only one that that happens too and what to do when that does happen. I'm so glad to have found you and all on the Tarot Readers Academy. I've learned so much this year and you've been a big part of that. Eternally grateful. Namaste'
I am the straight talker. I do have a different problem. You may have this situation pop up as an educator of tarot readers, and I wonder, what do you do when you realize the querent is not with you? I have a strong sense of empathy, a good sense of self, and a decent grasp of the intellectual meanings. But some people don't like me. Strait out of the gate. I've tried changing my tone, I try to be gentle, but there is something about my voice or vibe... How do you deal with that?
Maybe it's not you that's the problem if you've been trying to rectify the problem, it could be just that these people are in a negative state, so everyone around them is a negative person, they're probably just projecting their feelings on to you. I would try not to internalize it, and remind yourself that you are a good person who is just trying to help people in the best way that you know how.
Thank you for this! How do you feel about predicting death in a reading? I recently saw a sudden death in a friend's reading and I really didn't want to tell her. One reason I didn't want to is because I didn't know who it would be or even if what I was seeing was actually death. However, I did tell her. It was a three month span reading and within the first two months her grandmother died suddenly. This really had me in my feelings. So how do you forewarn someone? Do you tell them in the beginning that it is a possibility that these things can show up and if it does do they want to know? Please help.
I am very, very careful when it comes to predicting death. While I have seen it a few times I can only remember saying it once to my client. The Nine of Swords and Death came up and they stopped me and said, it is okay my grandfather is passing and we know. Then we talked about it. Thoughts are powerful things. I don't want to lay the seed of doubt in anyone's mind. So I may talk about a period of change and healing instead.
Ethony thank you so much! In my friends reading the eight of wands, three of swords, the ten of swords, the death card, we're all near each other. You are right I didn't want her to be waiting and on edge about the death. Thank you for the advice I will discuss it as change and healing if it ever comes up again.
The real question is "How do you combat bullshit of card reading?" Y'all have bought into fantasy and have become experts in feeding off of people seeking you out. This is sad and bullshit period. Go get a real job instead of scamming souls in the universe for the real work they do.

I love your advice but the music made me sort of tense. Thank you.
Great tips Ethony! I will definitely apply these when I launch my new website. Which should be very soon.

Love your bullet points and tips!!

What about when the reader only reads the not so positive cards and skips the good ones?
Honestly, I am not sure of the whole story but if they are only focussing on the negative, find a new tarot reader
Thanks

Nope, false start below. Video starts at 3.00
video starts at 1.42
Have tried about ten times to watch this and it keeps stalling out and buffering. No problems on other videos. Just FYI.....
Hmmmmmm, I will have to check out possibly why that is happening. Thank you for letting me know.
