Shout out to Dan Murphy’s for selling me this EXPIRED beer. Please don’t judge Two Birds from this video. They brew some great beers so show them some love. Cheers!
What an absolute disservice to that brewery. Sadly though, these beers in particular are doomed to gather dust there as the average slob tends to just barge in and grab their slabs of XXXX Gold that the staff are continually forced to pile high for a below wholesale price. A true act of futility in a world gone mad.
Spot on, mate. When I bought this beer (along with a few others), another bloke was buying 6 cases of XXXX Gold! The best way to support independent breweries is to buy direct from the source, which also means much fresher beer. Cheers!
Yeah I’ve said it before, especially when buying from DMs. I inadvertently bought an out of date Moo Brew Pilsner from there a few years ago and it was bloody awful. Cheers!
I don't know how current regulations would deal with stronger beers of the past with 'Best before' dates etc..... My old school and drinking mate and I bought a load of different commemorative beers in the early eighties, around the time of Charles & Diana's wedding. One of which was Eldridge Pope, Thomas Hardy Ale, from the now defunct Dorset brewery. The strength varied over the years but I believe it started around 12% ABV and increased with age? On the bottles it said to lay them down for up to 25 years? We opened two of our six bottles around our fiftieth birthdays near the end of 2008. My mates was perfect and had probably matured to 13+%. Mine? You could have probably sprinkled on your chips? We're due to try two more this year when we're both 65. Fingers crossed!
That’s fantastic, John. I held on to a corked bottle of a Hahn Millenium Ale (brewed in 2000) for many years but unfortunately it went AWOL during one of the many moves I’ve had since then. I did just drink a 2019 Imperial Stout (aged in Shiraz barrels) that I’ll post soon. Cheers!

Following your advice some time ago (I think it was you) I now check the expiration date

thats a shame for a good beer like that to go that way. surprised they still had it on the shelves, must have been overlooked?
Yeah, very poor form. You’ll be pleased to know that I finally got another batch of home brew down yesterday! Cheers!
