    I love that items were split between the museums. Gives folks on both sides of the world to enjoy and learn!

      Primarily this, but its also nice to have these things split for unseen circumstances. It would be unlikely both places are destroyed somehow.

    In my opinion it is good that items are split to multiple Museums and such. This allows more people an opportunity to share in the experience of seeing these artifacts. Not everyone is fortunate enough to travel overseas or even across the Country. Additionally, what you are doing with these videos helps immensely! Thank you for doing them!

    We have found a picture of a German Flag, where a bunch of men signed it, including my Dad. He was in Normandy with the 893rd TD BN. I wish that would be in a museum like all of these other things.

    Always great to see actual uniforms and photos of the time… especially anything about the Band of Brothers. Thanks and great job. Can you only sponsor a soldier in person at the museum or can you do something online?

    It’s commendable that Erik and DeTrez can work in concert to preserve and present the priceless treasures for us to see. Oh yea, I’d LOVE to own them but, here’s the reality…in those two museums, millions get to share in them. Too many of these items are buried away in private sheltered collections that no one but whomever was willing and able to lay out the cash, get to enjoy the turkey bump feeling! That’s just unfortunate! These men don’t hide them away with a prideful of boastful spirit…they freely share them. Absolutely I’d love to hold them in my hands…but if all I can do is see them, my soul is warmed by the experience. A salute to them, and to you…for taking us there…virtual is better than not at all. 🇺🇸❤️👊🏻

    Through the Orville Martin story, I just realised I own an original press release photograph of him wearing the helmet! The original press copy, it only mentioned the soldier’s unit: “505th Airborne”, the photo was taken of him in North Africa, prior to the Sicily drop, I believe. He’s wearing all of his jump gear (aside from the parachute itself). Very moving, great video!

  • @BigLisaFan

    I'd sponsor one for Capt. Sobel. Not the most popular person, but is generally acknowledged as the officer who helped make Easy Company into what it became.

    • @1776PartyAgain
      @1776PartyAgain 2 роки тому

      Lol, what the Lieutenant Colonel did for Easy Company was only for himself to look good. Did it ultimately help, possibly. He also tried to commit suicide, then he basically starved himself to death. The guy had demons from his early life. He got a Bronze Star and that Rank, that's all he deserves.

    • @BigLisaFan
      @BigLisaFan 2 роки тому

      @@1776PartyAgain True, but it did achieve something that possibly saved lives, Getting relieved of Easy Company certainly saved Sobel's life because it was bantered about that if the Germans didn't get him, someone from the company would and his field tactics appear to be considerably lacking.

    Love your work guys. You’re my favorite channel on UA-cam. Some folks don’t realize when Easy returned from Normandy they received new style uniforms they used at Market Garden to the end of the Euro conflict which explains why they had different sets of combat fatigues that you now see in different museums.

    Interesting. I'm glad the unused items from the D-Day experience museum are somewhere we can see them and not just sitting in storage somewhere. I'm sure the fact that he wanted that helmet was a contributing factor.

I plan to do some the same when I go back to France once this pandemic is declared over.

    As much as I respect the history with you both and I’m not so new on the channel since y’all merged, BUT, I did catch Erik on pawn stars a few times and hearing him say how he acquires stuff from a lot of 3rd parties with pretty much here-say and no documentation I think that should be something he looks into as a museum. I’m a freak with history don’t get me wrong but if you’re gonna display something make sure it’s what you say it is. Some people out there fake everything. No disrespect of course but I think his imagination takes over when buying some things cause he’s so emotionally involved

    JD if you are ever near Madison Wi it would be worth checking out the Veterans museum located downtown Madison just across the street from the State Capital building. The museum has an excellent life size diorama of the US wars complete with actual artifacts. The museum also has one of the best Civil War exhibits especially focused on the famous Iron Brigade which comprised some units mustered from the Southern Wi area. Some cool things to view are the flag staffs the Iron Brigade carried at Antietam as well as Gettysburg. The staffs have a story all their own and are riddled with bullet holes showing the intense combat the unit went through with Rufus Dawes as the leader of the 6th Wi regiment. Take care and keep up the awesome work you are doing!

    Just trying to clear up some confusion, which class a jacket is which? Or did they both belong to Winters? So which one is the jacket in Normandy?
