Motionsickness is a crazy 2.5D, 90s inspired free fighting game with one, single design idea: "IMPOSSIBLE MOTIONS FOR IMPOSSIBLE DAMAGE"!
Perform half circle into pretzel or double charge input... or ditch everything away for one-button specials with the Basic style, for maximum flexibility!
Change input style on the flight and raze the competition!
The open alpha contains 9 playable characters, local multiplayer, vs AI, arcade mode with an unplayable arcade boss, training mode and moveset tutorials!

I ended up missing the premiere due to a honeydo XD
But this looks good! Like a Tekken/Virtua Fighter meets the hyper combo juggly chaos of a VS Capcom. I'll have to see if the motion blurring gets to the eyes after long sessions, but I'm gonna jam with it anyway.
Juggly is a real word. I promise.
It's 2.5D, but I would define it as a weird mixture of Tekken absed strings - but mostly juggles, juggles, juggles and obnoxious special moves! No third dimension here and a LOT of strange inputs, but also two input styles for accessibility (Basic and Standard), so that one doesn't need to unroll their fingers after perfroming a half circle forward bretzel!
@@AndreaJensDemetrio It's been a blast so far. I'm sloooowly picking up the mechanics. Maybe then Teufel and Fleur won't be both really excellent at smacking me down in seconds. XD They are harder for me than the final boss which is no pushover.
Either way, thanks for sharing yet another lovingly crafted game (even as an alpha) for us fighter fans.
@@Mozzaratti I have troubles against Blaze at high level, but Fleur's mixups are deadly - and I hate when she jumps over my reppukens (Zodiaco main) :'D TBH the AI still needs tweaking, but I'm glad you are having fun with the game! Also, Subject X will receive an upgrade later down the line ;) Arcade mode was a "maybe" until the end, and you probably are the first one outside me that faced and beat the boss, as not even my beta testers had access to arcade until today!
@Mozzaratti I know one year has passed since this last comment of mine, but due to some scheduling conflicts and other gigs, Wontolla can't manage to complete the soundtrack... and I was wondering if you would be interested in accepting commissions for a couple of missing character themes! Thanks! And yes, Tekken and KoF were two huge inspirations! Not much SF though, at least not compared to the other two! It was still a blast to come up with the concept and try out something new!

It is planned, but likely when it is more complete! At the moment I am redoing some engine stuff, so the progress is not as fast as I would like it to be. That said, Motionsickness will be very different from SCHWB, but I hope your friend will enjoy it too!

Suggestion: Don't use "iron crosses" 0:53 and such, it's still considered offensive.
The Iron Cross is a Prussian/WW1 symbol and is considered pretty much separate from WW2 iconology. Von Teufel was inspired by the Red Baron, Manfred von Richtofen, a famous aviator from WW1 times, and has a pointed Prussian helmet to actually contextualise him better. I used the cross as a symbol to recall the design of the red biplane he became famous for.
At least, this should be the case in Italy, where I was born. I don't know if the symbol is seen in another way in the US, as I don't have a cultural connection with it. But if this is really a problem, I will definitely change the hitspark to something more neutral. Von Teufel is NOT a n*zi and I don't want him to be seen as supporting any such ideology. Since I despise that era and the people who keep on supporting those horrible ideals, both in Germany and in my own country, if there is a chance this is misunderstood, I will edit the imagery to avoid any possibility of it happening.
So, thanks for the feedback, I will research it a bit more.
@@AndreaJensDemetrio In the US, it may be used as another symbol of the "Alt Right" etc. for those who don't want a more obvious one. We never thought fascism could become a 21st century issue here! But as you may have seen on the news, it has. Of course, fascist soldiers often appear in video games or anime. Maybe just give him more generic military symbols.
@@VJFranzK OH DAMN! I was totally unaware that in the US the iron cross has gotten this horrible connotation! In my game, it was never meant to convey that idea. Thanks for pointing it out, I thought it was innocuous as a WW1/Prussian symbol and I wanted to use it to connect this character to the WW1 era aesthetic of uniforms and planes, but I think I will rework it to avoid any possible misunderstanding. I already have an idea on what to do and will implement it in a reasonable time frame.
That, or I will try to make absolutely clear that it's not to be considered like that for the character and that he is strongly against far right positions (which I planned to do for him as win quotes already, when talking down the villain - who has an autocratic, "law of the strongest" point of view). Honestly, I am not a fan of having to change my designs because of some less than pleasant people appropriating symbols that don't belong to them. I will see what I can do. Measures need to be taken, but I have to choose which ones.
I'd suggest making the motion inputs migae clearer so it's easier to understand what the motion is. Like maybe use numpad notation or show an example of someone's input while doing it
I am addressing it in the newest update, with improved icons, as I have received player feedback about it. Move lists will also have a toggle between symbols and plain arrows to make the motions easier to read (I don't remember if they are already in the current alpha)
Next official update will be around end of January. I am gathering some beta tester feedback and fixing some stuff here and there, but most of it is ready.
