  • This video gives an explanation of Animus integration and how to integrate the archetype of the Animus.
In Jungian Psychology, the Animus is referred to as the inner opposite or the inner man in every woman. This is the counterpart to the Anima, which Swiss psychologist Carl G. Jung defined as the inner woman in every man.
Jung explained that when the Animus is unconscious, repressed, and disintegrated, this can lead to a complex called Animus Possession where a woman's masculine side takes a stronghold in the conscious personality.
Someone who is Animus possessed is typically very armored as the Animus possesses for the purpose of protection.

Great video, I definitely learned some new info. I always thought the wizard of Oz was a good animus story, outlining how the ego (Dorothy) can integrate the repressed animus traits (heart, courage, and intelligence).

    • @TheDiamondNet
      @TheDiamondNet  3 роки тому +23

I never thought about it that way before but it makes perfect sense as an Animus story. That's especially true because the wizard just officializes and certifies what's already there in all the characters. In the book, the scarecrow is the one with the smartest plans yet he thinks he has no brain. The tin man has the biggest heart and is the most compassionate yet thinks he has no heart. And the lion is the bravest and fiercest yet believes he has no courage. And the wizard certifies what's already there. And the Animus is that way. It makes sense of what's already there but hasn't yet been named.

Loved this. My animus definitely takes over my personality. I am enneagram type 3, competitive, and always want things done. I have been held to high standards my whole life. That pushed me into a masculine energy.
I’m trying to face that I don’t need to accomplish so much to make people proud of me and am trying to connect more with my feminine nature.

Peterson had an interview on the Telegraph's youtube channel that sent me here. He mentioned
Cathy Newman's famous interview with him where he figured out early on that she was animus possessed. And that helped him navigate appropriately against her dominance seeking behaviours. I wanted to understand more and found this. It's really great as it helps me have a better sense of how to respond to people who treat me with puzzling levels of aggression. To even try to defend myself seems to be doomed to fail as the accuser will say my view is a misunderstanding...as they mischaracterize my view. And it gets too convoluted to even try to untangle their reasoning. It seems motivated. And this shows hints of what's going on. That shield is there for a reason but it doesn't need to be there for me, I can partially see through it, and that itself seems to cause terror. It's someone powerful I needed to be able to connect with who excluded me from their inner circle repeatedly. Gestures I thought would show deep sincerity and courage they snapped at. So I backed off and am still puzzled years later. It was a job of about $250,000 I was near to landing but lost due to these factors. The environment itself there is highly toxic, and the fellow was complicit in that. Even not commenting on explicit calls to violence from some of his staff. While those same staff are hyper vigilant for the most minute perceived moral impurity.

I shared it with 2ppl. I find it very unique that u know all this. I also found out that each person biologically has a certain level of feminine as well as masculine energy that needs to be satisfied. So some people for example have little feminine but lots of masculine energy. I’ve learned to be able to see that by looking at them. Ppl need to, based on their energy, interact with the world to satisfy both these needs. If a person doesn’t do this it will cause diseases, fantasies, fetishes and or darker ways of satisfying the need. The masculine is dominant and needs respect and the feminine is submissive and needs appreciation.
Masculine suppression can lead to adhd, long term back injuries, depression. Feminine suppression auto immune diseases, self harm, skin disorders, allergies etc.
Someone with little masculine energy needs less respect to be satisfied. That same person could have high feminine needs tho. It’s also possible to have both high feminine and masculine needs which is often the case with bi sexual ppl. Have you noticed this too? I’ve never read this in a book or found anyone talking about this. I’m referring to the notion that the masculine and feminine are needs based on how much of its energy their body is made up.
I’m able to tell through pattern recognition and combining patterns. You for example have high feminine energy, higher than most females, and high masculine energy for females but a bit lower than an average male. About 2.5-3x more masculine energy than the average female. I’ve found that women as a whole have about 3.5x more feminine energy than men and men about 3.5 more masculine energy than women. You are totally right that in our western society women are told that they should be more masculine. Men are told they should be more feminine. It’s a trend that changes back and forth over time. Now men who look masculine but act feminine and women who look feminine but act masculine are the most popular. Just look at the top 10 Instagram. Looking forward to hearing your views. It’s rare to find people who can talk about this.

Good video except it’s technically incorrect for a woman to have anima issues. If a woman has an issue with her feminine side then is a Shadow problem, NOT an anima problem. Same with a man having to develop masculine issues, it’s a shadow problem in contrast with an animus problem.
Emerald would likely have a negative mother complex given she finds herself more at home in the masculine qualities of logos.

    Hi!
I want to thank you for your help and for this amazing information.
I am a women, 35 years old, I am in the process of my inner work, integrating the animus, dream work.
My story begins 3 years ago after a painful breakup.
The story short is that all my 3 long term relationships have in commun my retroactive jealousy, also know as Rebeca Syndrome.
I delve in to the jungian psychology from January this year and basically changed my evolution dramatically in a good way.
But I still can't figure out where is the root and where to search in Jung psychology the answer for retroactive jealousy, I can't figure out if is about the animus, the shadow, a father complex or another thing.
If someone can help my I am open to any suggestions.
    Thank you so much!

Dear Emerald, I feel I have to comment to make an important point to you known.
You have wonderfully thoughtful videos on your channel. However there are some important points you have missed in comprehending Jung’s work which are common misconceptions but nonetheless actually distort the reality of the archetypes in the psychic substrait of the collective unconscious.
Hopefully this helps to rectify and clarify also for anyone else reading (these are very important for comprehending Jung at a legitimately personal level - rather than a purely mentally contemplative - level).
    - A woman does not (and CAN not) have an “anima” problem. People assume Jung’s statements about gender were based upon his “time” and the “gender roles” of the period. This is absolutely false and not the case. What he found in the collective unconscious with the archetypes are not his opinions - he mapped legitimate psychological territory - it was not his ego opinions that imposed these gender rules upon the unconscious. These are clear to any analyst who is expert in navigating the unconscious.
He worked with thousands of clients and had an incredible amount of experience. The reality of the anima and animus as the contrasexual counterpoint is a fact of the psychic substrait and this is proven to anyone who begins working with the dream space. The are types have evolved along side our physiology and are a psychic reality. The animus will reveal itself to the woman, and the anima will appear in the man’s dreams. Many people get these points wrong, it seems, as a consequence of not having actually gone through analysis, and this actually put the theory into practice through encountering the unconscious.
Negative feminine dreams in a woman is not indicative of an anima problem in the woman’s psyche - it is instead a SHADOW problem, as well as often being a reflection of a negative mother complex in many cases.
Emerald, for instance, is hinting at (potentially) a negative mother problem in the psyche and not an “anima” problem. The negative mother in a woman often creates a strong “logos” or spirit principle in her psyche, informing aspects of her conscious self and parts of the animus.
However, the negative mother and the negative animus tend to go hand-in-hand. Before analysis, the complexes are often blended and confused in the dream space as a result of a lack of comprehension and differentiation by the ego.
Another quick point also is that: the contrasexual aspect leads one into the unconscious - this is not specifically an “anima” trait. The conscious ego in its relationship to the unconscious in and of itself isn’t inherently an animus/anima dynamic. (The conscious ego in and of itself is NOT the animus, for instance.) The animus leads the female psyche into her unconscious, while the anima does the same in men.
Unfortunately it is a bit of an animus problem in and of itself to take a conceptual understanding of something and inflate this as of dominant importance over, let’s say, are more incarnated, embodied, intuitive KNOWING of the psyche through working with the dream space.
One can’t really know the reality of these structures until we become aware of the exact moment an archetype possesses us in our daily lives, speaking through us, as well as working with the dream space.
With that said, Emerald offers some great general and specific points that encompass some great fundamental understandings of some masculine/feminine dynamics, and I can see how she can very easily serve as a positive anima figure in the case of men especially.
Hopefully this is helpful and insightful!

1st 4 minutes, You did OK explaining, ,,, glad you mentioned both concepts are not as stricyly divided off froma person, a woman can have both emotional outbursts = Thye anima and men can be stubbornly stuck on poor understnading = the animua. which is why Von Franz I believe mentiuons this fact, that these psychic states can not be so pined down to one concept, But in other aspects you g= failed to take full recognition of what the aniums REALLY is, You do mention the shadow but ina vague and sort of foggy terms, = Your animus. You see a woman's animus is basically OPINIONS,, which may have some INKLING of verity, but mostly its nothing more than hand me down opinions and only lead a woman to poor understanding. = THE SHADOW,, w/o shadow work = EDU/reading/study, knowledge, the anaimus will feed off her ignorance, especially in crisis/critical decisions.
Its very difficult fora woman to gain mastery over her opinions if she is a 1) strong personality = big ego 2) she is not old enough = under 30ish , her EDU /reading is still not advanced enough 3) lacks experiences/fails to understand her experiences. 4_ also depends what attitudes her mother/sisters instilled in her, friends also can reinforce a strong animus. = women LOVE to social bond together, and also what the grandmother of her mother thought, went into her mother, now she has to deal with strong opinions handed down gto her. = a woman has alotttt of forces working against her to develope her masculine side = consciousness.
Thus shadow work is essential to work through and transform her masculine side to become aware/conscious/knowledgeable/approachable.
JUng had a terrible time w his anima, he had huge emotional outbursts. at least this is what I believe, via ancedotal testimonies.

I think we have big problems with animus possession in the culture. You don’t really cover misandry browbeating of others, poorly formed logic, blanket statements, and negative assumptions of others. I can detect an animus possessed woman. The negative animus possessed woman is bullying and usually undermining particularly of men and the masculine.

So could that explain homosexuality and transgenders? Their opposite side being more polarized rather than having their “original” gender role integrated in this lifetime

    • @TheDiamondNet
      @TheDiamondNet  3 роки тому +15

Being gay or transgendered stems more from someone's natural masculine/feminine signature. Everyone has both masculinity and femininity in varying degrees. So, people have an inborn masculine/feminine energetic signature. And this masculine/feminine signature is very unique to the individual and is there prior to conditioning. So, that means that a person can't add or remove masculinity or femininity from themselves. The only options are to either integrate and own what's there or to repress what's there.
Now, most people have a masculine/feminine signature relative to their sexuality that matches the masculine/feminine signature of most people of the same gender. For example, this means that men will most often have a masculine/feminine signature that is more masculine relative to their sexuality and so the attraction will be towards women. But when a man is gay, for instance, the masculine/feminine signature relative to the sexuality (and not necessarily the other aspects of the personality) is more feminine and so the attraction will be towards men.
As for transgendered people, the masculine/feminine signature as a whole tends to be reflective of what would typically be associated with the opposite sex from the sex written on their birth certificate.
That said, no one is exempt from issues with the Anima and Animus. So, regardless of gender identity or sexuality, it's very important to have an integrated relationship to both the masculine and feminine side and to drop resistance to, integrate, and own whatever is there.
