This a brilliant video Aiden, and all. I'm a keen viewer of all your deep dives, 10 day trends and even caught up on your most recent live video. Oversimplification alert. This is the trouble with the “branding” of global warming, for one, the word warming isn’t very threatening and secondly it makes it seem that the world will warm uniformly. Unfortunately, nature isn’t linear and tends towards chaos, so an overall warming can have very different effects on a local scale. This cold snap and snow in the UK is due to the behaviour of the jet stream allowing arctic air to cover the UK, mixed with warmer southern air. Global warming is predicted to make the jet stream more erratic, we could end up with more snow, even in November, combined with very hot summers.
A lot of weather presenters do more than just present the model output. They are qualified meteorologists and have input into the forecasts they give for the day. That 'human touch' element is quite vital and I think people will value it more as AI takes off.
