Hi Renea from Akron Ohio!! Girl, you are awesome!! You can whip up any recipe in no time!! I love your videos, but I really like watching you how you get your recipes together!! You have given me so many ideas from baking to cooking canning and to freezing items!! May God keep on blessing you, your family your stand and your channel!! ❤️
When my kids were younger I would bake them the scraps left over from pie crust. They still remember that to this day and now they are grown. I like pies better than I do cakes.
Great minds think alike! I'm prepping chicken and beef pot pies today for my freezer! We are expecting twin granddaughters very soon so they will come in handy for my son, daughter in law and grandson. (hubby and me too!)😊
Just a tip: To make a pocket with pita bread. After the bubbles begin to form flip to other side. Then use a spatula to tap the bubbles to distribute the air. It should make one big bubble, then remove. Same with each additional pita. I came for the pie crust recipe, so excited for this recipe. I have the glass Pyrex pie plates, they need the larger crust.
I finally purchased and received your cookbooks. I just Had to do it. Love your videos and I would love to start selling baked goods. I need to check on our Cottage Laws here.
Your pita bread looks so good! I will have to make your recipie, thank you for showing. I love your big pie pans, that would make an awesome chicken pot pie 🥧 Have a wonderful day
I use lard for my pie crusts as well. I have substituted a butter flavor shortening before but really prefer the taste that comes with a lard. I've never used it for a pot pie even though I'm sure it would be good. I really love seeing you cook & bake, your style is so much like my own. Thank you for sharing with us all!
I hope you will decide to make a video when you make your chicken pot pies. I make them sometimes, but it's interesting to see how others do that. You make it seem so easy!
Hi Renea and John! Beautiful pita breads and pie dough in the freezer is so handy. Yum, chicken pot pie is one of my favorites. Chicken and dumplings are right up there too. Is Tracey doing ok, haven’t seen her in a bit. Have a blessed day!
I’m so excited. Just ordered a set of 2 Dutch dough hooks(just like yours)if you’re able to manage it with your arthritic hands, I should be too. I have a Ninja precision food processor with a dough blade that I use for small dough batches(like a pizza dough) or cutting butter into pastry flour for pie. I tried lard in my crusts, but it was just too greasy for me.
I had absolutely no luck using lard to make pie crust. It almost seemed tasteless. I love crust and make cinnamon pie crust instead of cookies for myself. I finally found a recipe I love that has both butter and vegetable shortening in it. I sub cheap vodka for half the water. I also discovered through utube that I wasn’t making my dough quite wet enough. That was the game changer to rolling it out thin for a beautiful crust😊 I make several recipes at once and vacuum pack to make them last longer in my freezer.
I really need to try to convert these to gluten free recipes. It would be so convenient, and so much better tasting and so much more economical if I could make ahead some pie crusts
Renea you make it look so easy. After watching all these high flying chefs tell us, you need to use butter, your water needs to have ice, your butter needs to be frozen and grated, you need an egg, you just need an egg yolk, I mean seriously, give me a break.
I agree. Up the expense for little to no reason. This year, we may have to cook with few ingredients. This blog is our SPOT for recipes that save money and help us make do.
Hi Renea, I've only been watching you for about 4 months now, (we watch on our tv) and I really enjoy your videos! I am retired, but although I love to cook, I've never been a good baker. Your pie dough looks fantastic (everything you make looks good) I was wondering what kind of lard you use? I want to try it! Thanks for your great videos! 🙏💖🙏💖
I used to use a pastry cutter to dice to fry hamburger! You can make Greek Gyros (Tzatziki sauce), maybe diced Tomato, with pita bread. Think it would be a hit! Good morning! dayz off woo hoo!
I used to buy bread years ago called pita pockets around where I live in WV and you opened them and could put filling in them. I loved to put salad in mine. Is that how yours are used....as pockets??
Renea, I really need to try your Pits bread recipe and put some pie dough in the freezer. How long do you end up with your pie dough frozen till use you all of them? I have froze mine in the past least a year.
Great kitchen video Renee. Do you use commercial lard or do you get it from a butcher? Could you possibly put the camera a little closer, thank you very much.
Thank you for this video! I just have a question about those pita breads: are these suitable for making pockets, where you put the filling inside? Or are the for rolling, like tortilla's?

My grandmother made the best pie crust and she used lard. Not a popular ingredient now but best tasting, in my opinion.
Yes, please film the making of the pies!
Such a wonderful teacher

I get so upset at all these cooks who make a recipe too expensive or nearly impossible to make without the Waldorf Astoria kitchen.
I think they are more interested in showing off than teaching any one how to cook any thing.@@LittleVillageHomestead
@@LittleVillageHomesteadThat made me smile because my Grandmams♡ husband worked at The Waldorf Astoria. I have been there several times!!!.. 🦋
Hi Renea. How do you store your left over seeds for the year? Thank you for being so knowledgeable. You are a human encyclopedia.😊
