- In todays video we go into the history of the once abandoned Lamb house situated just outside of the centre of Brisbane City. Everything was left behind in this grand house and serves amazing views across the Brisbane river and city. It was sold last year for $12.75 million where new owners will renovate this mansion and make it their own private residence.

I am not sorry for the trespass I was charged with, the fine was worth having a chance to see the beauty of the past. However I am sorry if it hurt you that I trespassed.

It's ashame how the squatters, wreck these places. If they kept them tidy, no-one would know they were there

The original owners refused to pay council rates but also objected to the city council pushing the sale to claw back money owed to the city. Its a rather interesting story
People should have the right to own a house ... councils are just organised crime syndicates .. why do you think you get sent a rates notice and not a rates invoice ? you pay invoices not notices... enough taxes are collected in Australia so that people can at least be free from taxes on their homes.
@@paulmarshall248 it's a case of paying for the facilities that everyone uses regardless of wether or not you use them. This covered all public infrastructure. Don't know why it requires an explanation but obviously it's an organized crime thing or something that was made up

It is such a shame that nothing better was done to protect this property, and that people totally trashed it. I'm so happy it was finally saved from total destruction and hope it is going to stand tall and beautiful for many more decades :)

fabulous house, happy someone has bought it and going to fix it up as it used to be, that staircase you couldnt buy that today, panelling as well, great video lets hope the new owners puts it back to its past years

I find it hard to sympathise with the previous owner who was willing to let the grand building rot. Very happy that it was sold to someone who will restore it.
The person had been there for a very long time and the greedy government rates and corrupt local government officials ensured that the rates became so high that the person who owned it couldn't afford to live in their own home. Heritage Listing of any other persons private property by a government makes it impossible for anyone to even do their own renovations or painting for which you then need "approval" by public servants who will make it impossible for anyone to enjoy their own property.
Any fool Australians that want to say who can own a home, and judge whether they should be able to keep their own home without government interference is a piece of work, and I hope that in their old age they are told that some government people have decided to put conditions on how and when they care for their own private property ! Absolute imbeciles. The stupid remark than the previous owner was "willing to let. . . it rot" is not a thinking person, just a very ignorant person indeed.

Finally, great narration. I've seen many abandon home videos and most no narration or its next to useless. It was great learning about this house, the past, present and future. Well done girls. 684 liked. A bigger light would be useful.

How sad that Joy Lamb felt unsafe living here with people breaking in and having to move out and not even being able to come back and pack up her belongings due to squatters. That's just so wrong! I feel sorry for her. 😪 I wonder what she will think of the house once it's completed? It would definitely have been amazing to see inside and hopefully I will have the opportunity to do so once it has been restored. I believe the new owners will open it to the public at some point? 😊
I would not even want to see my house done up by someone else, if I didn't get paid for the sale. Council profited there.

Would have been a much better video without the constant droning background "music". It drowns out the narrator at times.

If this mansion is on the heritage site why can't they re renovated
On tv shows people volunteer to fix people's houses for them , why don't people volunteer there time fix it and split the sale money profit to be made , with social media easier than ever for people to work together.

We don’t know the circumstances of Mrs Lamb. No one has the right to sit and judge her. She may not have had the money to pay for the property taxes and rates. What I find sad is what the squatters and thieves have also done to the house.
