I drove 1000 miles in Alaska last week. drove to Whittier, ferried to Valdez. drove to Mcarthy ( rough!) then to Copper River, onto Fairbanks then back to the valley. We have been home 3 days and I am still exhausted!

I am a 74 year old widow living in Kansas. I lost my hubby of 55 years last year. I fractured two vertebrae in April. I spent some time in the hospital. I am finally getting better. The views from Mark's plane never get old, and it truly is spectacular being up above Alaska. Weston and Bennett are crazy swimming in that weather. Kids living their best life!!

@@ThisAlaskaLifeI live in Washington state and while we don’t get a lot of snow,one year it snowed a lot and kids were out in freezing temps. Kids just have no fear I guess😊

Loved this video. So nice of Mark’s dad to share the cabin. It looks very cozy. Love the bunk house! Have you ever seen a bear while using the outhouse? What awesome parents you are. The boys will have wonderful memories of their growing up years!
I have thankfully never seen a bear near the cabin. I have seen a few down the beach a long ways and the minute they see us or catch our scent they high tail it the other way.
What an amazing family. It is so nice to see a family like yours being the stewards of America’s last frontier. You and your husband are the best parents. I am in awe of your amazing life and how all of you respect and utilize every aspect of it.

Why risk flying, when you can drive? Take two cars.
He would have take a car if the weather hadn’t cleared up. It’s tricky driving too, lots of things to consider. We are glad we all safely made it.
🤍✨HERES AN IDEA, THE WATERFALL MARK FOUND ON THE BEACH, IF YOUD LIKE, TAKE A SHOWER ( WITH A BATHING SUIT ON OF COURSE) IN THE WATERFALL IF YOUR WATER SUPPLY GETS TOO LOW! 🤓🤗🤍✨
That would be fun. The waterfall is very far away but it was sure cool! Thankfully we have a lot of water this year from all the snow melt.

Wow, nice and cozy although the weather wasn't so great. Spending time with family and making memories is what counts. Boys really enjoyed themselves. I love your videos. They are so detailed and beautiful. I feel like I'm in Alaska with you. I have a daughter with severe autism and intellectual disability so, it is difficult to go anywhere. Your videos, though, make me feel like I'm there. I've always wanted to go to Alaska, and you just make me want it more. My daughter loves watching your videos with me (especially your cruise videos) so she may be ok with an Alaskan vacation in the future. We are in western Pennsylvania and it is so hot here. I'm not a hot weather kind of girl. I would love to be in a cooler climate. Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful videos. ❤

Glad Mark and the boys made it to you. Nice to have some fresh fish albeit not your preferred fish. The eagles certainly were not fussy about the breed of fish. That waterfall was just beautiful. It might not have been all the you wanted weather wise but you guys still had a ball. You managed to get some fish ( small but edible). It seemed to me that your break away was wonderful, family love and happiness is all you need. Stay blessed ❤

The best clams I ever ate was when I ate them with Bennett. He told me not to look at them. Just put it in your mouth. "Eat the whole thing". Truth.

The rope course is made from things we found. *plus hundreds of dollars of hardware. I am bring another few hundred$ for the zipline next month. Woot!
That is a good side note, all the hardware you use to make it so awesome. We’re excited for more creations!

The cabin is Mark’s parents, we are grateful they let us use it. I moved here when I was 14, my dad transferred with FedEx

He thought they had, but sometimes they still have reflexes or you make a mistake and they didn’t die fully when you gill them.
I so enjoy watching your family playing in nature. I used to love hiking but back injuries have changed that. So, living vicariously through your videos. Simply fascinated by learning from you and your husband as your children learn so many important life lessons. Thank you for helping me through this week of 100+ degree weather. Hi y’all l love ur family the way u use raspberries & garden veggies. A clean living no alcohol. Many years ago l did have a beer after l washed my car. Also l decided not to drink. I take pain meds & l think it’s the best way to live. It makes life simple. Keep on living a wonderful life u & Mark r setting the bar high with great examples of how to live a clean life. Enjoy u travels & life in Alaska. It reminds me how my family did road trips & camping in our tent trailer that my Dad built & ordered canvas to fit. Great momories from childhood. ❤B. My son and his wife were on a cruise to Alaska. He was impressed with all of the eagle congregations. This year they are off to Europe. They did like Alaska.

Very unlikely .It's a remote area , they are safe.I do worry about brown bears , it's Alaska after all.

. Maybe, I missed it, why does mark have to take the plane, rather than drive?
He chooses to. It costs a lot to take the ferry and drive. It is much quicker to fly. If the weather hadn’t cleared by afternoon, he would have hopped in the car and driven. There are also only 2 ferries a day, so you have to plan your drive perfect to catch them.

We saw all your recent AK Cruise vlogs and thought you all did such a fun and fantastic trip…so we subscribed. Then came upon this Vlog…WOWIE! Talk about folks being the real deal. You and Mark and your handsome family are the real deal! Watching your children play and family interaction was reminiscent of life decades ago. Keeping themselves occupied, outside til called in and chores? What? We watched with delight and at the end said to each other those were the days.
Your boys may be the future Constructors with environment being key, Creators with inventions beyond our minds eye, Caregivers with absolute love and devotion and Culinary experts fending from land and sea.

Weather is a fickle beast, especially when flying. Safety first. It's amazing how differently the sky looks: airport vs cabin. I'm so happy Mark and the boys made it safely. I've had a few scary flights: large and small planes. l love flying, but when those wheels touch down, my heart rejoices 🛩️

I can't eat sculpin, but that flounder looks tasty - pan fry it in butter, garlic, lemon and dill, some coarse pepper, perhaps some capers... Yum 😋

Loved the cabin and surrounding area tour. Quaint lil cabins are nice, especially when remote and the scenery is beautiful... rain or shine. The look on Hunter's face was priceless. Like, "seriously Mom. I'm having my switch time" 🎮

Flounder are pretty easy to clean. The smaller ones can be tricky because the cuts you make are basically the same on a small one as a large one, so it's easier to clean the larger ones as you don't have to make such small cuts along the spine. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

How did your husband ended up being a pilot and owning a plane?
Got his pilots license at 17. His dad also had a small plane and they always flew. We bought a plane about 6 years ago and have enjoyed all the places it can get us to explore Alaska!

It barely gets dark.. 1 am to 2 am. My in-laws built the cabin with some other families. Those families have since moved on and it now belongs just to our family.
It is just amazing what can be 're-purposed' and used for a mini-boot camp for the boys!! Living off the land and family time is what life is all about!💙Your boys will treasure these times together for years to come😊

Watching your family take long walks along the shore, do you ever worry about meeting bear?
There are little black bears some times but they are really scared of humans and always run away long before we get close. If there were brown bears here it would be a different story!

Lots of exposure to interesting things to eat, there is also something special about food at the cabin, fresh out of the ocean.

My parents get home in May and we close down the Airbnb. Sorry! There are lots of great places to stay around Anchorage and beyond.
