Hi Kevin , I’m looking at a 2019 RXT 230 with IBR. It has 90 hours in it. Is it still worth getting and is there anything to look for..it has 90 hours on it. ? Going to be used up in Ontario in fresh lakes . For every day use kinda thing . Touring around and that kinda stuff . No jumping though. Lol Thanks Kevin.
It's hard to say without a stringent physical review. Depending on the level of care, 90 hours isn't much or it's near death. Again, it depends on how well it was maintained and treated.
Thanks for taking the time to put this all together. I'm an (ex) avid snowmobiler from the Northeast who just relocated to GA/FL border last month. I just purchased my first ever PWC last week. I did end up going with the RXT 230 in the end for my new toy. Seemed like the best value and enough machine to not get bored or grow out of it too soon but man are these things $$$$ The GXR had only the different seat it seemed so almost identical. Can't wait to drop it into the St. Mary's River outside Cumberland Island this Thursday or Friday. Hope I like being on the water as much as sledding on the snow. Thanks Again
Im the first comment! Yey...lol... I’ve gone to seadoo website, but I get overwhelmed by all the models. They are all similar, its very confusing... first time buyer...
Well, if you're starting to feel a little overwhelmed, make sure to check this review out, as well as the full-length feature article just published at www.watercraftjournal.com where we break it down in detail. We've also got reviews on the RXT-X 300, GTX Limited 230 and 300.
Hey, Can I get your honest opinion, since I'm sure you have rode both extensively. Which do you like better, the Gtr230 or the RXT230? Here in canada it's a $1900 dollar difference. Just wondering if it's worth the cost? Thanks, really enjoying your videos.
Neither. I'd go with the GTR-X 230 because of the Ergolock seat. It's so much worth the improved ergonomics. The RXT (ST3) demands a set of RIVA sponsons and unfortunately, the RXT-X and RXT have different bolt patterns, so the current RXT-X sponsons won't fit. So yeah, if you can find a GTR-X 230, go with that.
@@watercraftjournalOk, I was wanting to do a 3 seater just for the odd times I have the wife and little one with me. I appreciate your quick response. Thanks
Yamaha's reliability is still superior. The VX Cruiser HO is more comfortable in rough (thicker hull/deck material); VXR is sportier and quicker. Same hull, deck, powertrain.
Thanks for the response I also see that they were about the same top speed but what about in terms of acceleration are they pretty similar or does the 50 Hp difference really make the 230 feel a lot faster
Non-adjustable sponsons, and ABSOLUTELY NOT. The ST3 hull is in no way conducing to playful riding like the craft from the 1990s. The Spark is. In fact, it's based off of the HX hull.
Looking at the 19 Yamaha VXR vs 19 Seadoo RXT 230 and I’m torn between these too any recommendations as to which model I should go with? I’m currently leaning towards the VXR mostly because it’s non Supercharged and mite be better on fuel
The VXR benefits from a 18.5-gal fuel cell and yes, better fuel mileage. The RXT 230 has far more in the way of features (tilt steering, LINQ accessory mounts, center storage bin). So it's really a matter of what matters more to you.
Like most it comes down to reliability, love the all the extra features the Seadoo has tho really torn, price also plays a big role up here in Canada the VXR is almost 1000$ more is it justified because of the Yamaha reputation of reliability?
Certainly! Everything tops off at 68+ (be that Kawasaki, Yamaha or Sea-Doo). It'll peak at 70.2mph, and back down automatically. You won't see a sustained top speed above 68mph.
Well, kinda. Two totally different engines and performance scales. The ACE 1500 replaced the 215HP 4-tec, and the 260HP Rotax was replaced by the ACE 300. Sea-Doo only kept the 260HP Rotax for a couple of years after the ACE 300 was released because it fit under the suspension models. With the suspension models retired last year, the 260 died with them.
C'mon now. YOu know the answer to this. The top speed for EVERYTHING is around 68mph (and change). The USCG sees to that. Acceleration between the 260 and 230 hasn't been measured yet. Now between the '17 300 and '18 300, yes, there's a significant difference.
We have both a video on the GTX Limited as well as a full-length feature article discussing both the 230 and 300-horsepower versions HERE: watercraftjournal.com/perfection-in-degrees-2018-sea-doo-gtx-limited-230-300-video/
I just went today to look at buying the Rxt 230 but I'm in Illinois so it'll be winter soon was hoping they would have a sale soon but nothing yet hate to pay full price for something that came out 9 months ago with the 19 model coming out shortly
@@m1gard1987 I'm wanting a gtr230 and gonna try to see what deals come around then. They want to off load those last year models so they will negotiate better then. That's how i got my 16 yamaha vxr. Sorry but seadont is a big NO. Brp dropped the ball not taking care of my warranty repairs. Still haven’t received the check for the repairs that I had to pay for out of pocket on a unit with only 20hrs. Looks like a quality machine unfortunately I’ve found out their real flaws are with their poor Coustmer service and untrained techs.

Love that colorway. Just got a 2017 green GTR X 230 and I absolutely love it. That being said I’d really like that storage layout.
Yeah, the center storage sure beats leaning over the handlebars.
Just bought a 2018 RXT 230 yesterday! Loved my 2005 GTX 155 but I need more acceleration. Cant wait to get this baby out there!
is it any good? I just bought the gtx 230 2019

What year would say seadoo did a good turn around it terms of reliability and also would you prefer a vxr or vx ho instead of the 230 ?
