My favorite player during my junior/high school years, got a pure drive because of Andy. So glad he’s doing this pod! Someone should snatch him as a coach in the next few years, he’s very knowledgeable about the game. Should make this pod very interesting for serious, casual, and new tennis fans.
Thank you Gill Gross for recommending this new channel ! You are still my favorite, but loved to have another place where we are able to watch good quality tennis analysis!
Brilliant! Fast, paced, humble, quirky, and funny - and packed with real nuggets onthe reality of the tour. I’ve listened to Gill Gross every week for the last five years and he is first class. Shout out to Gill’s confidence in the competition that Andy will bring. Bravo. 👏
This is gold. Immediate follow. A tennis podcast like nothing else that exists today. Learnt about the new body type in tennis . Slogmode and so much more.
Andy, thank you for this lengthier format. It's a real pleasure to hear you dissect tennis, you're both eloquent and insightful. Never a word too many or rambling kind of feeling. Here's to many more!
Djokovic (and Big 3) fan here. I loved Andy as a player, loved him as a commentator too - so this is RIGHT up my alley. Invaluable insight, look forward to the pod!
I'm a longtime tennis fan and a fan of you and your wife. Just found this podcast - love your insight. Could not agree more with your comments re: Medvedev. I'm a Sinner fan, but Medvedev's heart and head in this final have not been recognized, except by you. Keep doing this!!
Stayed up till 4am watching Andy hit that ace against Ferrero for the 2003 US open title. Felt like just yesterday. Keep up the good work Andy! So happy to hear about your podcast
This is awesome, Andy Roddick has joined the podcast universe!. With his vast knowledge and experience in tennis, his contributions to the podcasting world will engage and inspire tennis enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Andy, there are a lot of tennis podcasts out there, but this has the potential to be the best because of what you bring to the table. Very much looking forward to going through the upcoming grand slam seasons with you.
Andy, man, I've been waiting for a podcast like this for a long time, you nailed it! Loved how you talked about Medvedev's and Zverev's tennis tactics and about the differences between Alcaraz and Federer first serve and how their ball feels to the returner. This is the kind of insight nobody talks about during Tennis Matches. It would be great to hear you talk more about this kind of things on future episodes! Good luck on it!
Very informative, and answered a lot of questions that I had. I would like it if he were to have guests like The Williams sisters, Agassi, Martina, and people like that, people who are going to be honest with their answers and analysis, and some of the active and up-and-coming players. Loved the show.
Good to see you all are not afraid to talk controversial topics, hope that will continue to be the case as the podcast grows and inevitably gets more pressure to be less "controversial"
Suscribed! We needed this. When JJ Redick started his podcast I thought about how lovely would be to have a former pro talking for more than 3 mins about the players, matches, and trends on the tour. Now we have one of the most elocuent grand slam champions doing it! Love the take on Alcaraz serve. We rarely hear such a detailed description about the difficulty of dealing with lively serves with different spins, speeds and locations. Fathers/psychopats... well said!
Tennisnerd led me to your channel. He has a good racquet recommendation video for you. Andy, you were my childhood hero. I'm so happy you're still around the game. For me, there is no tennis without Andy Roddick.
I just found this channel! I am so glad, Andy, I always loved how articulate and funny you were in your interviews during your time on the tour. Good luck with this new project!
“It’s not going to be this bad forever” is 100% false modesty… im only 14 minutes in already absolutely loving it! Great start Andy and John! If you keep going with this you will make the youtube tennis nerds so happy.
So happy to have direct access to Andy’s perspective without me trying to hunt down Tennis channel. UA-cam is infinity more accessible. Coming back to the sport as a spectator and player after years away this kind of conversation is encouraging and keeps me engaged between the grand slams. Love the first ep can’t wait to watch/listen.
Dear Andy and Jon, love the podcast. I particularly love the insightful analysis of Alcaraz's serve you did at 31:25, and would love to hear more of this type of (more technical) commentary. Would you consider doing a serve (and perhaps other shots) analysis of the best opponents you have faced and seen throughout your career? From, say, Sampras to Federer, and from Ivanisevic to Karlovic.
Such a privilege to get this insight from someone who's been there, done that, and has such excellent analytic skills. Kudos to Andy for being so modest regarding his own achievements in his comparison with Daniil regarding best player to win one slam, given that he was a three-time finalist at Wimbledon, was tantalisingly close to winning in 2009 and lost those finals to arguably the GOATOG (OG - On Grass)). Excellent contribution by Jon also to this opening episode. Great start...long may it continue.
Thanks Andy for the discussion on your work with Coco Gauff, who has the talent to be the best player in the world. So many fixes to problems in tennis are actually simple concepts, de-complicating movements, and not unfathomable occult secrets knowable only by the select few. Kudos to Coco and her team for being open to making a change.
I was always a big Andy Roddick fan from Vietnam when I was a teen! :) Brings back the memories, still remember his run when winning the Cincy masters. Was staying up at 3am to watch it! This channel deserves many more subscribers! Brooklyn should help spread a word as well :) PS: doesnt Andy speak too much about Coco's technique? he could earn $$ for this lessons with any other players
Great! Thanks for putting your podcast on youtube - video of facial expressions adds a lot. The 62 minutes flew by (I did have it running at 1.15 speed.....:)
Really enjoyed the podcast & am glad I was lazy enough not to listen before it ended up on YT 🙂 I feel like we've seen Djokovic struggle more often physically since the American hard courts last summer. Of course that's struggle physically relative to Djokovic standard, not other ATP players. The Big 4 have conquered the "suffering" aspect of winning slams better than any era before them. It will be interesting to watch going forward how long Novak hangs onto his locker room mystique. We've seen w/ so many past champions that once it goes it's incredibly hard to get back.
Hello from AZ! My favo tennis player since 8th grades! Good to see you doing something I can listen to while dealing with house chores 🥳🥳🥳 Way to go, Andy!
Yeah, sent here by Gill Gross. So many great podcasts/youtube channels these days; it’s hard to keep up. Don’t forget The Game to Love boys and their crazy songs 😂
It's amazing how much stronger a player can get mentally when they eliminate fundamental technical flaws in their game. Sabalenka's mental fragility was the result of technical issues. When you can't depend on your serve OR your forehand because they are flawed shots, it's bound to make you a head case.
its ok that i listened to this earlier today and now im watching the full video version? thats a normal thing to do right? Andy you talk a crazy amount of sense.
This was wonderful, so happy to be here since the first episode. The insights and commentary offered wow! Almost seems wrong that it’s free (but please keep it free lol). Can’t wait for the next one!
Always love listening to Andy talk tennis. Remember watching you late one night in the 3rd round at the 2008 AO against Philipp Kohlschreiber. You were not having a your best night ;-). The crowd had thinned drastically by midnight. Snuck down to the corporate seats right next to your box with Connors and Shane Warne (I think?) among others. You were not happy, but it was still an entertaining night. Welcome to podcasting. Hope it works out. Like deployed.
Andy, let me give you the term of what you did to Sabalenka. It’s called the anchoring effect. Look it up. Good on you for seeing what she is now and what she accomplished but look up what anchoring effect is. Thanks for the podcast. Thanks for the UA-cam show. They’re awesome.
Andy I can’t tell you how many hours I spent in middle school and high school trying to nail your insane serve! I’ll give you that pity subscribe gladly!
I love the fact Andy that u are a guy that never used peds, I’m not saying any names but remember they got Lance Armstrong , 66 slams largely in the same era apart from novaks recent slams, completely unheard of and somewhat baffling
Shout out to Gill Gross for calling this podcast out. Beyond excited for this to take off and it’s exactly what Tennis needed! Thank you Andy
Yes! I’m here because of Gill as well!
I’ll add this to Gill Gross as my weekly tennis listens 🤝🏼

Andy definitely sold a LOT of Pure Drives for that generation 🎾
Me too!!😊
Andy is a joy to listen to. His commenting offers great insight into the game's nuts and bolts.
this is a perfect addition to the tennis world. Thanks to Andy and John, please be as regular a guest if not a co-host!

Our pleasure!
Hey! Glad you’re doing this, Andy! Love watching you on court, love hearing you here!
Love Andy Roddick when he was a player. I bought a pure drive, Reebok hats and baggy shirts as a kid.
Subbed and so happy this is a thing. ❤ Andy!

I'm a longtime tennis fan and a fan of you and your wife. Just found this podcast - love your insight. Could not agree more with your comments re: Medvedev. I'm a Sinner fan, but Medvedev's heart and head in this final have not been recognized, except by you. Keep doing this!!

Andy, there are a lot of tennis podcasts out there, but this has the potential to be the best because of what you bring to the table. Very much looking forward to going through the upcoming grand slam seasons with you.

Amazing first episode! Cheers to the great A-Rod from Italy!
Ciao!
Love that you have created this show Andy. Look forward to seeing more episodes.

Gill sent me. Thanks Andy for great podcast and for covering women’s tennis too. Love Anisimova, Rybakina, Sabalenka, Ostapenko, all the big hitters.
Very informative, and answered a lot of questions that I had. I would like it if he were to have guests like The Williams sisters, Agassi, Martina, and people like that, people who are going to be honest with their answers and analysis, and some of the active and up-and-coming players. Keep it on UA-cam! Love the content and the insights
More to come!

I’d love it if you worked with Alcaraz as well!! You mentioned his serve could use some fine tuning.
Gill Gross sent me here. 🚀
When are we gonna get a biopic movie of Andy’s tennis career with Sean William Scott playing the part of Andy? 😁
Finally something andy is good in
Hi Andy, Cam Williams (Tennis Talk) sent me here :-)
Go there Andy, go talk to Carlitos. He's coming Stateside. Go catch him

Finally someone saying it. Sinner is more Austrian than Italian......
