Nice to see the topper on the Deere harvester doesn't pepper the tractor driver with the cut tops, unlike the Massey Ferguson's I operated many years ago
Damn good vid. I was pleased to see several were actually using those 'top' cutters instead of poking them up in the air. Did the farm actually own all 3 different combines or was one or two on hire, - it seems odd to have 3 different ones when most operations only run 1 or at the most 2, - granted they were all the same make.
I shot this video close to the beginning of the season when the cane was still standing straight. It usually isn't too long before some weather occurrence knocks the cane down to where the toppers become useless . And yes, this farm owns all three of these combines.
@@AerialAg Thanks for your replies. - Is there any reason why they have 3 different models of the same machine, or do they just happen to have been bought a year or two apart hence dear old JD's model numbers change. I presume the cost is much the same as an ordinary combine, - half a mill +.
@@christopherlovelock9104 No particular reason.. they just bought them at different times. I think they're planning on replacing two of them with the two row Deere in a year or two.
Vacherie, La. My home town. Thanks for the videos.

We used to haul their cane years ago to the Lula Sugar Mill. Good people.

I can imagine these machines being driverless 10-20 years from now, all without cabins, all automatic..
If and when that day comes, I will no longer make these videos..I don't find the autonomous stuff nearly as cool
