- Making a wooden flatbow using hand tools. The bow ended up drawing 35-40 lb at 28". I haven't worked with ash wood for a while, I've almost forgotten how beautiful it is! The grain on finished product looks just stunning. So far it seems to be sweet shooter, more tests ahead!

Thanks for watching guys!!!
As an experienced bowyer, I love the way this guy reduces a frigging log 5 in in diameter to a thin, elegant trad bow without using several thousand dollars of electric table equipment, unlike some of the "expert" bowyers on yt.
Appreciate it!!!
I did my first Flat Bow from an round about 8 cm thick ash sapling. it might not be perfect, it might not be powerful (about 28 lb) but i love it cause I made it all by myself with a knive , a drawknive and a file!
would like to try to chase growthrings one day but i cant get proper ash trees for that. But if i ever do i come back to watch this :-)
Simple but elegant design. She's a beauty.
Thank you sir! The siplicity is what I like the most when it comes to my personal bows.
great looking bow! ive used ash in a few pieces and its awesome to work with. gotta say the way you chased the growth ring on the back was cool to watch. definitely a little nerve wracking but cool!
Thank you sir! Yes, it's decent bow wood and wonderful looker! Yeah, I've got tough time with it 😂😂
Amazing as always 🙌🏼🫶🏽

Can you do a video on how to add wood to make a high riser handle on a bow that came from a thin stave
I will make such a one in the future 💪
Amazing
Thank you sir!
excellent
Thank you!
Hey, do you use dead ash wood for bowmaking? Here in Europe you find nearly more deadwood than alive ash. I always go with deadwood, because its already fully dry but still good inside. Otherwise, i would have a guilty conscience ;)
I'm not felling trees by myself, I buy wood as already harvested logs. The ash I had was already suffering from diseases (judging by the latest growthrings). You're right, ash is definetely not doing well here in Europe. Greetings from Poland :)
What do you use for 'sealing' finish on wood ?
What is that milky Liquid you use for finish? It looks like diluted wood glue, but i think its smth different. I always finish my bows with danish oil or linseed oil.
It's a water based varnish (Vidaron). I used linseed oil too, have to try danish one! Thank you for the comment.
@@DreamcraftBows danish oil gives a shiny darken look. But it’s a bit sticky if you wipe it off a little bit too late. But I like it the most.
красава, мужик, уважаю мужчин, которые умеют работать руками. Мой дедушка был токарем, слесарем и с деревом работать умел
Thank you!!!
Your videos are very cool. Just curious where did you learn to speak English?
Thanks! Mainly in the school :) (we learn English and German)
Хорошая работа брат хотел спросить сколько фунтов в этом Луке
Thank you! The draw is approx 20kg
Яка вологість заготовки перед початком роботи?
Approx 9%

Why did you remove the back wood ?
Growthings on the back were very thin. Such ash growthrings are very brittle. I removed wood from the back to get better quality rings for the bow
@@DreamcraftBows ok but I thought the narrower the rings the denser the wood is
That’s bloody beautiful 👏👏
