you miss labeled the old Calverton Airport as Westhampton Airport. Westehampton Airport is south of Sunrise highway on the southern side. Otherwise nice video.
That wasn't west Hampton Airport - which would have been on your right (south). That looks like you passed Brookhaven National Lab and then the old Grumman property in Calverton on your left (north).
Thank you for watching and feedback. You are right Calverton Executive Airpark is on the left at [02:10]. The West Hampton airport (Francis Stanley Gabreski airport) was just in front of the cowling (right) at [02:16], it was not very clear in the vid.
Soy español de Madri. Me gustaría saber si toda esa área urbanizada de Long Island se considera como formando parte del Gran New York área metropolitana. Gracias.
New York City consists of five counties. Kings County and queens county are part of New York City and are located at the Western end of Long Island. They have about half of New York City’s population. I am not sure how exactly the New York metropolitan area is defined. However, my guess is that it extends a distance of about 50 miles from the queens border on Long Island. These 50 miles are covered by an intense network of suburban roads. Suburbia in the United States, and Canada is very different from any other place in the world. It consists of single-family homes on large plots of land. These homes are typically miles from any shopping, so you have to have a multiple cars in order to live here. Except for a few cities, the entire United States is built around the automobile. This is not perhaps a wise method of development, but it is what Americans want. I think you’re gonna be seeing more of it in the future as countries become wealthier. .
By the way, as you go for the eastern Long Island, you will find a few farms. The West End consists of the homes of some of the wealthiest people in United States. Very few lived there all year round. They fly there by helicopter in the summer months from New York City. The island of Manhattan is considered one of the most desirable places in the United States to live and much of the population consists of wealthy individuals. You may find this strange, since you may have heard that New York City is a hell hole of poverty and misery. These statements are a gross exaggeration of a complex reality. In fact, New York has one of the lowest crime rates in the United States, and has created a high social safety net for the poor. Millions of immigrants pour into the United States each year. They do this because there are and have always been great opportunities here. My grandparents came here as children in the 1880s.
You are absolutely right, from NYC to the End, there are 2 class-B, 1 class -C, 3 class-D, and 5 class-E airports. 11 airports within 100 miles. I live in Northern Virginia, there is a airport about every 20 miles. Probably this is the case across east coast including VA,MD,DE,NJ,NY,CT,RI,MA. It is very good for general aviation , you can always find a place to land especially under emergency. Thank you for like my vid.
Long Island is beautiful, thank you!!
1:52 - the white, large building in the lower right is the IRS building. 1040 Waverly Ave in Holtsville. I used to work there. Miss living on LI.

What altitude were you?
We were at 7500ft over JFK Bravo airspace, descend to 2000ft at Montauk, cross the sea to the Block Island.
Why does it seem to me; that Long Island has a huge number of airports per its geographical area? Or is it just me? Great video thank you!

Yes, but JFK is an international airport in the city. Only small private planes are used at republic, MacArthur is domestic flights.
