I just called mercedes of seattle and they said it would be 2200 for an alternator and new battery i have a mercedes cls55 amg and i wanted to ask if its in the same place as the cls500
I would guess the battery is in the same place. Mercedes is usually puts the battery either in the trunk or under the back seat passenger side. Now your engine is a a different version, I would guess it would be in a similar place but you will have to look and find it. But here is a warning - if you replace the battery yourself some functions of the car will not work properly until you re-program the car to the new battery. With the alternator you will have no problems. This is how the corporations get you now, all the new cars have computers running them. I would suggest replacing the alternator yourself and taking it in for the battery, really there is no way around it. Hope this helps
I bought a new Alternator for about $210. I tried to rebuild it but with no luck, it never past a voltage test so i just got a new one. I am not sure what someone would charge to rebuild your alternator and to have a mechanic do the repair you are looking at a couple hours so depending on what they charge an hour in your area. It will also very from a dealer to a general mechanic shop. If I had to guess it would be between $500-$800.
