It's not on anything anymore. Parlophone yanked it when they re-released their remastered versions. This one's only available on the Rykodisc and EMI versions.
@@cubdukat It really seems so. That's why I'm more than happy that I have just that version of Ziggy Cd that you mentioned with "Sweet Head" and "Velvet Goldmine" as bonus tracks. 🙂👍
@@brianmacdonald8078 Good thing RCA didn't release "The Man Who Sold the World" when it first came out. "She Shook Me Cold" never would have made it...
Like most of all of you David Bowie lovers I didn't hear this out-take from the Ziggy sessions until.... What was it.? 25 years after Ziggy's 1st release. Like the rest of the album this song blew away the cobwebs in my head and I felt gratitude that this recording was pulled out of the vaults. To my ears David does a Jaggerish strut ting vocal with scorching lyrics and good Mick Ronson giving it an typical early 70's Guitar Rock sound. It is David's vocals that bring it to life though.
Thanks for the story on this one. This song really is the whole spirit of that album and should be one of the peak tracks of it. 'I'm the kind of man she warned me of' is one of the best lines I've ever heard. cheers David.
The BBC never banned Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed supposedly because no one there knew what "giving head" meant. We're a little island. Great track by a sadly missed genius
Brother Ziggy is, was and always will be 100% pure The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders from Mars album is as pure as Glitter Rock gets. David Bowie, Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder & Mick 'Woody'Woodmansey were the purest form of Glitter Rock Magic there ever was. The Ziggy Stardust album is just as fresh today as it was over 50 years ago when David Bowie & the Spiders from Mars recorded it.
One of my absolute favorites by David Bowie. I'm sure it was the lyrical content that caused it to be looked over for release. There are some really incredible lines in this song though. Mick Ronson's guitar doesn't hurt either!
What a fucking band the Spiders were. This song is as much a lead song as any other that was included on the album. This is what rock stardom sounds like.
Seems I've been missing something from my vinyl for the last 48 years . . . 😮 What The ****? I only stumbled on this due to a Queens of the Stoneage article (TVL band Sweethead) Thanks for educating a Bowie fan of 48 years
The name of the song, kind of grosses me out, as I explained 7 months ago. So I can't picture this dude's tattoo without my own gross biased visuals. It's not his fault. It David Bowie's fault. Edit: Also, if you think about it, he really is SOOOOO PUNK!!!1112345 @@melizmatea
You can find it on the 1990 reissue of the Ziggy Stardust album (from Ryko) or on the 30th anniversary edition of the album. The 30th anniversary edition of the Ziggy Stardust album is from EMI and has a full CD of bonus tracks. This includes Sweet Head ( take 4) with studio banter. I hope this helps you out.
They could record whatever they wanted; their record company just wouldn't put it on the finished album. This didn't show up anywhere until almost 20 years after it was recorded, when Bowie did the Rykodisc remasters. It sounds like he didn't even do it live; supposedly even the song's co-producer had forgotten it even existed.
This song is kinda....... gross. When he says "Sweeeet Head!" in that high pitched squeal, I can't picture anything but rumors of Bowie smoking Mick Jagger's pole, or vice versa. All while staring at me with those weird eyes where one pupil is dilated. Mick Jagger winks at Bowie when Bowie goes "Sweeet head!" And their girlfriends look at each other and get kind of uncomfortable, but then realize that they are making tons of money, so who cares if they are secretly playing "Slap our dicks together." Oh, and unfortunately for Me, Bowie is in full Ziggy Stardust costume, to make things even creepier. Sorry, I just can't get into this song, without seeing all the weird stuff, that comes with Ziggy Stardust World. It's quite broken for me. It's also a bit country blues sounding, for a song by a bunch of British Blokes that were touted as being super modern. Maybe they were only modern in their Androgynous Pop Culture posturing. The Main guitar line that shifts between E and E6 chords also really adds a boogie shuffle aesthetic, one that doesn't feel modern in my American Ears. The song sounds like something you'd hear in a dive bar in Tennessee during the 1950s, albeit with a pale woman/man with strange eyes. Who may have buggered Mick Jagger. EDIT 01.05.2019 Holy f I wrote all that about this? Whaaa?
The way you imagine this song is sorta gay bro, not gonna lie. Internal homophobia and denial are a b****. But you've got this. As for your obsession with David Bowie's eyes and him in full Ziggy costume, that's unusual, but I'm sure there's p*rn for it somewhere for you to get off over, don't worry
This is dreadful. I am glad it wasn't included on the original album as it would have spoiled it. The music is OK but the lyrics and vocals would have needed major rework (if it was to be released). His singing is too high pitched.
This song isn't on Spotify and that's a real problem

Too gay for the record. Also this sounds like A Jim Henson's Muppet Show Song.

Why exactly did this get taken off the remastered version? It seems kind of stupid for Parlophone to do that. They should have just left it on there.
