Steamboat, CO: Pony Express - Take 2

This Garaventa-CTEC Stealth II high-speed quad was installed in 1998 as part of an expansion known as Pioneer Ridge. The terrain off this lift is mostly advanced and expert level, with several mogul runs. Longhorn is the main blue run off this lift. In 2023, a second lift was installed north of this lift, in a new area called Mahogany Ridge. The lift still has a 1200 pph capacity, with 54 chairs and 15 towers. The speed in this recording is 1000 fpm.

You guys went on Pony a few weeks after they put the new motor was put in. I heard the old motor gave out and it took a week or 2 for the Steamboat crew to get a new one in its place, that meant the Mahogany Ridge terrain was hike-to only

It sounded like you had to either hike up Lariat or some of the chutes, but I’m glad they got it working again. The only problem I have with the lift now is that they recently shifted the unloading ramp slightly forward, so you don’t get as big of a launch off the chair as in previous years.
