Something I didn't mention is that I'm not certain we can rule out the existence of advanced machine intelligence based on what we've seen so far. They don't get deep into the weeds about RDA tech in either film, but it would be interesting to see how how a synthetic intelligence would interpret the situation on Pandora and how it would react to what's taking place there.
With all their advancements in interstellar travel, genetic manipulation, neurological signal capture for the Avatar/Recom projects, and even the ability to scan people's thoughts like Ardmore did with Spider, it's not a big leap to assume they could also do artificial people, androids, cyborgs, etc. I'm not sure yet whether it will mesh with the story they intend to tell, but it's become an extremely relevant topic and I think Jim wouldn't be able to resist addressing it in some fashion.

Maybe a terrible event in the future caused the humans to limit or severely restrict AI to keep it under their control. That could be one of the reasons the humans weren't able to manage their own planet, versus Eywa, who is basically an AI, keeping a balance on Pandora.
I think there were still some hints of AI with robotic attack dogs in the high ground comics.

you can't really call Eywa an AI, since she's not artificial (probably)

Um, excessive amounts of electromagnetic pulse throughout Pandora, especially around Unobtanium deposits?
Much more powerful than any EMP weapons produced by humans on Earth.
Also, the area around Bridgehead seems to have AI bots working yet the humans didn't land around the Tree of Souls so that explains it.

they do have AI, it just doesn´t work too well on Pandora, remember, before entering the magnetic field of the hallelujah mountains they switch to manual control, meaning they do have AI flight control, I guess we just don´t know enough about Earth in 2154 to see where it went

This is the true and most obvious answer but it's fun to think about!

@@AVTR i bet he would answer like this, jame is super straightforward guy. I remember someone point out that time travel not work like in the terminator in reality, he just said I don't care.

maybe the interference messes with ai too much on pandora? but also, just because it hasnt been focused on in the movie, doesnt mean it isnt there. though what would rda use advanced ai for? sure, simple ai is great for those assembly bots and other various machines, but i see no real need for them to use an advanced ai for anything

James Cameron was little low on knowledge of humans as if you want to explore any other planet we send robots not humans, humans are fragile, robots are not
