Stopping people writing with the left hand went on in the 1960s, my sister was left handed and they tried to stop her, didn't work, mother put a stop to it.
My mum, born in the 1940s, was also told she was wrong and bad for using her left hand, my nan same your mum, she marched down to the school and demanded they stop trying to force my mum to use her right hand. My small family has 4 left handers out of 7 people, a lot of "sinister" people in my family. My mum taught me to write as a kid but she struggled as I'm right handed so she taught me as best she could with the upshot that i mostly use my right hand but I can also write with my left.
I'm thankful my kindergarten teacher taught me to use both hands. I eat and write with my left hand, and use scissors and basically do everything else with my right hand. This was in 1966.

Left speechless for a number of them, WAY over the boundaries of my modern times rational to comprehend. All I'm left with is people back THEN were effing nuts!
And when they grew to be our parents age, they knew the younger set showed little aptitude . Yep, mom and pop knew best. Espicially their own. Many young people these days are identified by their tattoos .

Writing with your right hand so you don't smudge the ink using quills or fountain pens.
