3 and a half years later and this video is still so valuable. Thank you for sharing all of this. I am now confident about buying these specific models. Thanks again!
ok. So you manage to explain the system so easily and efficiently without all the bullcrap...and even canon werent able to do this as well. Thanks for the quick tour. made it easier to get my head around the system.
I have been stressed out for days trying to figure out why they weren't connecting. It was my ID was off! Thank you for being one of the only helpful tutorials on these products!!
Wow, I have just watched a full 3 day class followed by another 3 day on studio strobes because I've been trying to learn the Yongnuo YN-E3-RT II trigger with my 2 Yong. YN600EX-RT II speedlites; There was maybe a total of 3 or less minutes where they mentioned "Oh, and you can use a trigger too." Instead of a lightbulb flashing over my head when I finally "get" something, they basically turned the light off and locked me in with no food!! SO- when I found this video completely by accident earlier, I was hearing that angel-choir "AHHH" sound and a whole 'GROUP' ;-) of lights went all stroboscopic, lol. And even tho this is for the original and the display/menu's slightly different, they do the exact same thing and YOU MADE MY DAY!! Thank you so much for posting this, it goes to show even 4 yrs later this information is so vitally important to anyone learning!! And now I am gonna see (just cuz) if there is a separate vid on the 'RT II model. I learned more in 8 mins than 2 full 3 day courses on a 'creative' learning site! Somebody should be paying YOU to teach live streaming classes, for getting straight to the goods without hours of filler!! Thanks again, I finally got excited for off -cam flash again!
Just want to say that I upgraded from the Yongnuo 560III flashes to the 600ex-rt flashes and was looking for a video showing the setup, well yours is the best and explained in the simplest form, I appreciate your time and guidance in setting these up, I am now good to go and ready to put them to the test, thanks!👍🏼
Holy Moly! What a great, simple, and clear demonstration of how to use these two products. I bought these years ago and was decent at using them, but haven't used them now in several years. But now I need to dust 'em off. Looked up "how to" and found this video! Bam! Awesome! Back up to speed so quickly! And even learned more than I knew before! Great job. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Thank you!! I just bought 3 600EX-RT II/s with the YN-E3-RT and wasn't sure how to get them up. (bought them used with no paperwork and was only shown once how to do all of this) I can now refer back to this video until I get the hang of using them. Thank you again for a perfect explanation that was EASY to follow. I appreciate it!!
This is a great video!! I am new to flash photography and I bought the speed light first, and then ordered the trigger unit immediately after I got the flash because I already knew that I was going to want to get that bulky flash off of my camera to do more of the artistic portraiture that I had envisioned. These two products opened an entire new world of photography!!! I am on a very tight budget and you can't beat the price and functionality. I will definitely be buying another yn 600rt ex or 3 in the following months!! Thanks for posting this video. You answered most of my questions.
can't thank you enough, I have 3 Yongnuo flashes that don't support high speed sync nor the 2nd curtain, but now I am comfortable buying something that I can use for indoor and outdoor shooting. Really appreciate it.
I just wanted to thank you for this tutorial. It helped me to quickly set up flashes for an event I recently photographed. Your instructions were easy to follow & you covered everything I needed. I continue to watch & review this a
Thanks for the very helpful tutorial. I use the Yongnuo YN-E3-600-RT with three Canon 600EX-RTs as I wanted the focus assist functionality offered only on the Yongnuo. Your tutorial was just as applicable to using the YN-E3-600-RT with the Canon flashes as with the Yongnuo units.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together. This will be bookmarked and viewed often until I have all of the button pushing hardwired into my physical memory. Grateful.
Many thanks for making this video. I just got in 3 flash guns and the trigger system. You make it very simple to understand and take hours of guess work out of the equation.
What an excellent walktrough! It made me understand easily lots of options I have no idea how to configure or use... It's great for a newcomer to the strobist world like me. Thank you very much. Fernando, from Argentina
Thank you very!!! I just got these a day ago and I'm going to use them at an event tomorrow. Your tutorial really helped me understand the Yongnuo system.
Very comprehensive, thank you. The book that came with the speedlites had me frustrated almost to the point of tears but I am on solid ground now thanks to your video.
thank you so much for creating this tutorial, T ! Ive just bought these speedlights and trigger. This video has been a great help. With respect to you.
I just ordered this system. I've got a few days 'till it arrives but your video has me already ready to go (or at least start). Thanks so much for posting!
Just getting into flash photography, both x2 600rtxii an the controller, I am very happy I saw this video, very detailed and perfectly explained 🙏🏻 thank you so much
Thank you!!! This is the best info I have found on using the Yongnuo trans and controller. I have been slogging through the user manual - ugh! This is just the information that I needed!!
Great video. Thanks bro!. Just purchased YN-E3-RT and 3 YN600EXs. This is all the tutorial i need. I have subscribed and will be coming back to check for updates. My little take away from researching the RT system when using YongNUO products is always to apply latest firmware update when things do not seem to work (when you're sure everything is setup correctly). Another one I have heard is to make sure you turn off the power-saving feature....where the flash will automatically shut-off if not in used. I've read about some link issues associated with this. So, the best thing is to turn this feature off. Thanks for a great tutorial!!!
i dont know how many times i have seen this video :) im gonna download for offline reference too.. Most detailed tutorial i have seen ever.. thanks a tonn
Thanks for this post. This is the second time I've been to it because I don't take my flashes out on a regular basis. I'm sure I'll be back to the post again but this sunk in a little more this time.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with all of us. Well explained. I will refer to this video every time I have issues with my flash system. Cheers!
Great video that I will definitely watch again. I'm glad that at the end of the video you showed how to get back to the original settings as I touched everything and screwed up all my settings LOL. Thanks for the video, you've got a new subscriber.
aloha, when i considered buying a radio triggered system i came across this lovely instruction. Loved it and ordered one young nuo 600 rt with the e3-rt and for my canon 430ex2 a e3-rx (wil start portraitsat home and maybe in future on location. So big tumps up for thsi video its great
Thank you! Well crafted and executed tutorial on using the Yongnuo transmitter and speedlites! This really helped me out. I work in higher ed and I know a great tutorial when I see one! Well done.
Good afternoon thank you for the response. I just finished washing your youtube video and it was very useful. Thank you for posting it and answering the questions again. I would like to see more videos on the flashes and how you use the ratios when shooting. I think they came up with a great affordable product for entry to intermediated photographers. However, we all have seen their instruction manuals and pretty useless. Again great video and lets see some work with different setups.
+Humberto Morchano as I have time, I will make more videos so that you can more easily understand how to use them... yes, the manuals are pretty tough to read and comprehend..
Thanks Tim for such a detailed demonstration about setting up it. Indeed this video is a great reference. I would request if you can make a small tutorial about YN-E3-RT-II, it has little different overlay. Thanks
Wow, When I decided to get some extra learning with off camera flash, dam, what a lot to learn. Thanks so much for you excellent video of these Speedlite's and controller. It makes the learning curve so much easier to know and learn. Thanks heaps. Kev.
Thanks for this video. It's stopped me going mad! I had two YN600's working perfectly with the E3 but not my third. I could NOT work it out. Until I found this video and the point about flash ID's. Bingo! One of my flashes had a different ID (my fault I was playing with it) so I set all the units with the same ID and they all locked together perfectly. Thank you.
Had to search to find this. Glad I did. I would label it "Using 600ex-rt with another 600ex-rt and/or yn-e3-rt. I'm planning to use the 600ex-rt on camera as the transmitter. Your directions for the yn-e3-rt work for the 600 ex-rt, too, so can bill it as such. Thanks so much!
I just got my second Yongnuo YN600EX-RT II today to go along with my other Yongnuo YN600EX-RT II and Yongnuo YN-E3-RT. After following this video all three worked great. One thing I noticed is that after installing fresh batteries ( and they also warn you not to use LiFePO4 and/or Li-ion batteries use only alkaline or NiMH batteries ) I noticed that unit will not turn on. There was an issue with the metal contacts in the battery compartment. After cleaning out the contacts it finally worked. Really didn't know what that wall all about.
Great vid, Just got mine in the mail yesterday. And this vid was real helpful walking me through it. Hope you do make a follow up on more features. Will be watching it. Im going to watch some other vids you posted that looked interesting and hitting subscribe.

Yep, you gotta come back to it a couple of times.
Congratulations, the best video I have seen about this trigger. No bullshit, clean and focused video, clear and simple words.
Thank you!! I just bought 3 600EX-RT II/s with the YN-E3-RT and wasn't sure how to get them up. (bought them used with no paperwork and was only shown once how to do all of this)

I appreciate it!!
Cheers for that. Just got my new 600ex-rt ii. This was so much better than reading the manual.
